The massage was incredibly rough, not deep, it hurt. The therapist offered to shorten to an hour, I declined as I was looking forward to the massage. The pressure could have been minimized, but that's not what happened. She stopped and told me my body was too tense and I need to train my body to accept massages. She stopped and I was charged for an hour. I regret not speaking up more at the time. It felt embarrassing to be rejected in a spa. I was there to release tension and relax not told I couldn't handle it. This therapist was not in tuned to her client (me), very rough, and left me upset and angry.

I've tried multiple other therapists in the area, but they haven't been able to combat my pain in the way Nikki does. She offers a wide range of treatments. If you are struggling with chronic pain like I am, I'd definitely come see Nikki. She is the only massage therapist I will go to now.

I was a D1 college athlete and suffered a lot of injuries - specifically lower back and hips. Due to injuries (and just a love for spas!), I have received a few hundred massages in my life (everything from sports massages to the St. Regis & other luxury spas) and therefore I consider myself to be an extremely hard judge when it comes to massage therapy. I came to Johnny after reading his reviews - and to be quite honest I wasn't expecting much from such a small town in Montana. But oh was I wrong! Johnny is extremely professional, truly cares about solving your problems, and I would recommend him to absolutely anyone. He has an obvious passion for what he does, and it shows! My favorite thing about his massages and the experience is that he is very educated in various techniques, and is very communicative during the session. He wants to make sure that you are benefiting from each and every minute. The main issue that I find with trying to search for a new massotherapist - especially on vacation or while traveling - is that reviews can be very subjective, depending on the individual person and what their massage preferences are. The beauty of Johnny's approach is that he has many different tools in his arsenal - so he can satisfy any client, regardless of what their massage preference is. Most massotherapists have one routine and/or technique, and if you aren't a fan of what they specialize in, you are out of luck. Johnny will talk through different options to ensure you are enjoying the session, which I think is extremely rare. I would recommend him to anyone - one of the best massages I have ever had! Bear Roots does not meet the quality you can find in other cities, but it'll do for MT (no offense MT, but the quality of this area just isn't the same as other places sometimes). I had some scheduling errors that were the fault of Bear Roots (did not actually cancel an appointment that I cancelled in person for a future date), was charged for appointments I cancelled and was accused of turning off reminder notifications, which is a bizarre accusation. They seem a bit money hungry & their systems aren't easy to navigate. I don't want to triple check something that should be relaxing and they don't seem to be able to get it right the first time. I won't go back next season and would try to find something in Whitefish. I hate to give a woman-owned business a bad review, especially during COVID, but this was not a positive experience.
