I went to Lizbeth about 20 times. I didn't realize how ineffective she was until I got my current therapist, who dug deeper and got to my heart and head faster in one session than Lizbeth did in 20.
In retrospect, Lizbeth seemed to be going through the motions, phoning it in. Her interests were in applying her preconceived Jungian categories to my situation and picking lint off of her outfit or inspecting her nails.
She completely let me off the hook regarding my pot addiction, going so far as to rhapsodize about how wonderful the strains of marijuana are today. (By comparison, my current therapist gently held my feet to the fire and, as a result of her, my wife, and MA, I've been pot-free for 2.5 years.)
In the end, I think Lizbeth was bored and in it for the money. At the end of my sessions, I felt like I was going through the motions too...like I had been eating junk food for 20 weeks instead of nourishing food.
My current therapist is brilliant and really connects with me. Keep looking: there are outstanding therapists. read more
