Both of our girls go to Livermore Play School & we absolutely love it. Our girls look forward to seeing their teachers everyday & they have so much fun playing both indoors & outdoors with all of the toys. When we toured the school for the first time, we were impressed with the size of the school & huge play areas outside. The kids all seemed to be so happy in every classroom & teachers were very engaged with all of the kids. I highly encourage any parent that is needing childcare to check this place out. It was an immediate yes for us and now that we've been here since May, we are so happy that our girls come here & are so loved by their teachers. Our oldest little girl joined LPS in April of 2017. Teacher Robyn was her teacher at the time and noticed the change in our daughter. Robyn helped us potty train her easily and it's been such a loving nurturing environment. LPS staff has been our second family. The teachers are the reason why we chose to bring her here. Teacher Serena deserves a special acknowledgement as she navigated online distance learning in 2020. It was a tough year when she started kindergarten but LPS did an amazing job providing a nurturing and navigating through all the complexities due to COVID. I can't thank them all enough for everything they've done. We also have two little girls both in LPS in teach Sara's class and with Teacher Kathy and Becky! Our girls LOVE LPS. The staff has been there for 20+ years and even teacher Evelyn who retired comes back every now and then to help out when needed. She does this because she loves the kiddos. Robyn is now the Director which is fantastic she's been a teacher for many years and has always communicated effortlessly. Our kids love all the teachers but they absolutely adore teacher Stacey. They talk about her all the time and even ask for play dates and sleepovers with her, that's awesome!!! Before deciding where my two young kids were going to attend preschool, I toured a few places in Livermore deciding Livermore Playschool was the right fit for them and our family. The preschool has flexible hours and works with parents to accommodate their schedules. The staff and teachers are experienced, friendly, and supportive. The school and parent board works hard to plan fun, family-friendly activities- like movie nights, carnivals, and class plays. Through the pandemic the preschool has taken precautions to keep our kids and families safe; their communication and transparency has been greatly appreciated. My favorite part about my experience with LPS has been the friendships I've made with the other parents and the life-long friendships my kids will have. My 3 year old son, just started at LPS a couple of months ago, and we love it! We switched him from another preschool program so he was a bit shy at first, but loves his new school. The 3 yr old teacher, Robyn is great! I really like the flexibility with the schedule, as we need a random pairing of days, not the typical T-TH or M-W-F program. And I also like that for an extra $45 a month you can have extended care in the morning or afternoon, that also helps with the hectic schedule of the working family. I also really love that the school provides all lunch and snacks, that is a huge plus over the other school he was at. Plus they helped with his potty training, which he is now, YAY! He had been going to the other program since 18 months and didn't make huge progress until he went to LPS. Coincidence? Maybe, but I'll take it. They brush their teeth after lunch, school provides and cleans the toothbrushes and bedding for nap time. Again, another huge plus over other schools were the parents have to provide bedding and wash each week. Lots of room to play outdoors, school pets, lots of fieldtrips, just can say enough. My son is attending pre-K program over there. So far we are very pleased with teachers and the program itself. They are trying to prepare to Kindergarten as much as possible but they do have fun time, too! At mornings they have study time and afternoon they just play. They have a big play area, big truck tires are amazing climbing treat. There a lot of bikes, other outdoor toys, area where they can drive big toy trucks, swings. I like that they have nice outdoor space for eating. And on hot days they have cooling sprinklers outside. The nice thing about them they have their own lunch and snacks. I don't have to figure out what to put to lunch box, we don't have one! And there is no sheets/blankets/pillows to wash every week. You bring your own but they will wash them every week. Very helpful for busy working parents! My son who refused to draw a single line because he doesn't like how it comes out, started to draw nice pictures this week and can write his name fairly good. read more

Both of my kids went to Livermore Playschool for 6 years over a 7 year period. When I walked into LPS in 2005 after visiting 10 preschools in Pleasanton and Livermore, I knew my search was over. I can't say enough about the teachers, the curriculum, the learning through play, the outside activities, and Gina who is an amazing director. My kids not only made lifelong friends, but they were more than prepared for Kindergarten. After my kids went through the preschool program they moved onto the After school program which gave my kids a safe environment after school to do their homework and also to socialize and play with their friends. The teachers make all the difference and my kids have the best memories of all of their teachers and love them to this day. I can't say enough good things about LPS!! read more

LOVE LOVE LOVE This pre-school! I have so many raves about this school. My daughter started going here when she was 2 years old. She will be 4 soon, so close to 2 years. All of the teachers here have been here for multiple years and care so much about the children. They are also very knowledgeable about everything that you can think of when it comes to children. For example my daughter had a cough and one of the teachers told me I should get her check for asthma, I just thought she had a cough. So I took her to the doctor and sure enough she had asthma. My daughter will run up to the teachers in the morning and give them a big hug. It shows how much she loves this school and the relationships and memories she has made here. I was originally referred to the school by a friend who also said she loved the school. I did my due diligence and interviewed about 5 other schools, I will admit Livermore Playschool was my second choice but they opened up a spot sooner than the other school I was looking at. I think everything happens for a reason and I am so glad that we got into this school and not my original choice. This school also has multiple field trips for the kids and more events than you can think of. One of our favorite events is the Parents Night Out Event! During the summer they bring in water slides and the build a creek for the kids to play in. My daughter has so much fun at this school but she is also learning everyday. She comes home singing songs and already knows all over her numbers and letters. I truly believe she is getting a jump start on her education and social skills by going to this school. My last rave is the cost of the school, extremely affordable in comparison to the other schools I interviewed! read more

Livermore Play School is fantastic and phenomenal. They are very supportive and involved with the Community. As a student nurse aka "Health Hero" we were allowed to join the staff as teammates to work with the children and reinforce their knowledge about the importance of safety during COVID. This pandemic has been challenging for all, but Livermore Play School has gone above and beyond to ensure safety, security, care, warmth, and comfort. The entire staff was warm, responsive, alert, welcoming, and friendly. They were supportive and great with the children. The environment was nurturing, very organized, and fostered learning growth and development. The children were so amazing, well behaved, and respectful. You can tell the children are in great hands because they were always smiling and so excited to come on site and join their classmates. My son went through the entire preschool program here and we couldn't of been happier with the facility, teachers and staff. Lots of activities and fun stuff done year round. Plenty of outside play on large playground with fun obstacles. Special events for the kids on Halloween, Thanksgiving, X-mas, Valentines Day, Spring time, and the list goes on... Just a great school. Probably one of the most appreciated and affordable schools/daycare for the tuition costs. Staff is really geared towards each individual child's comfort and bonding is a true art of thiers...My just-turned-2-year-old started last month after a very brief stint in a Pleasanton daycare last year (do no think she was quite ready for it then). After researching almost every public daycare offered in the tri-valley area, we stumbled across an ad for Livermore Play School in a local advertisement flyer. Decided to make a visit to tour the facility and instantly was attracted to the school's operating style: Livermore Play School is not a state-run program but does abide by guidelines that are issued such as teacher to child ratio... The parents whose children are enrolled at LPS, are able (and encouraged) to serve on their Board of Director and members. Because of this aspect, a unique approach and execution of the school's mission statement is upheld and met at all times. The school's property is very large with a wide range of outdoor activities that the children take part in daily. Inside, the classrooms are clean and well ventilated (heat and a/c during appropriate months) while the walls are constantly displaying the tons of art activity projects by the kids. Most attractive to me was their offering of both part-time and full-time programs as well as all meals provided by the local Valley Care Hospital (you know it's healthy!) Academic and play-base curriculum center around the majority of the daily schedule, which is individually posted and can be reviewed by parents for each of their child's classroom (age group). My daughter's teacher this year has been a lifesaver with the encouragement of my daughter's potty training and the routine and repetitiveness used def reinforces such quick, positive results-I am just thrilled at my little girl's progress! Kudos Ms. Samina!! Security is also a high priority for this school and staff. Located off North Mines and East Ave, the actual facility is a bit nestled in between a somewhat busy street and side residential streets. Each parent(s) are given a code in order to enter the school property so as to keep unwanted rift-raft and unauthorized persons. The only complaint I have is the insufficient parking for the school size. Depending on what time you drop/pick up your kids, could be difficult to find a spot considering there is only a handful of spots and parking on the residential side street is not allowed (permit issue, I guess). My son went there for preschool from age 2-3 1/2, and we only left because we moved to Southern California. A very special place, with loving teachers, tons of fun and educational activities day in and day out, great special events that include parents, healthy meals included in tuition (and consideration for dietary restrictions/needs), and a good deal. My son was very attached to Samina and Serena and we miss them a lot. My older son went to the afterschool program, which transitions to an activity-filled summer camp, and had a great experience also. We love you, Livermore Playschool! read more

I am utterly shocked that this preschool received such high ratings both from Yelp and Greatschools.org. After 2 weeks of sending my child there, we pulled her out. I toured the school and the staff seemed friendly enough although Gina, the director was not onsite at the time. At the time of my tour, I was not told anything about my child having homework assignments. I was a little put off by all the junk piled up by the front gate but willing to look past it if the school was a good fit. I toured the school late in the afternoon and during summer time so the preschool program was not in full swing. I signed my daughter up and on the first day of school I was shocked to find out that she would have weekly homework assignments. Seriously? My child is 4 years old. Although the homework was not at all challenging, the assignments were mostly printouts from a website to help her practice her letters. I could download this stuff off the internet myself and have her do it if she needed to work on her letters. Be a little creative people. But really, homework assignments at aged 4 was a bit ridiculous. Upon asking my child about what her day was like, I find out that the teachers don't read to her, a cd player does the work. What am I paying the teachers to do? The teachers at her last preschool (in another state) took great joy in reading to the kids and interacting with them. They got on the floor with the kids and did projects with them which I never saw at LPS. I was also told that they played outside until 9:30 each morning. That lasted about a week. Then the following 3 weeks every time I dropped her off they were playing inside. It's early morning in Livermore in August (temps still in the 70s). There is no reason to be inside unless there is inclement weather before circle time begins and definitely not what was pitched to me during the tour. But the final straw was the 'mean girl' gang of kids that decided that bullying a new kid was perfectly fine and doing so while the teacher was watching and didn't do a thing. After a few days of my daughter (who has always been an easy going kid and gets along fine with both girls and boys) came home to tell me that a few of the girls were mean to her and convinced all the girls not to play with her, I decided to come in and observe myself. These little snotty kids were giving my daughter and me dirty looks, back talking to the teacher (who showed absolutely no backbone in return), and fostered exclusion with the boys. I asked my daughter what the teacher did when the girls picked on her and my daughter said that she was told to work it out with the antagonistic girls. Putting the responsibility of working things out with the girl being bullied is not a way to foster inclusion nor teach the child in the wrong proper socialization. It is encouraging the behavior. I promptly gave notice 2 weeks notice. The regular staff was not friendly at all. I should have picked up on it when I read the student handbook and it was page after page of rules and negative reinforcement for the parents but only 2 sentences about what sort of enriching environment they offered children. More often than not when I picked up my girl from school, the kids in the afterschool program were bickering and fighting. I get it, kids fight, but this is not the first preschool we've attended but certainly a very negative environment. They even were having the after-school kids watch a movie. Again, what am I paying for? I don't allow screen time for my child during the week and why aren't they outside getting some exercise? My daughter came home from her previous preschool with literally a dozen drawings a day (or other various art projects). At LPS, she came home with 1 piece of artwork in 6 days. I saw all the supplies the school has for the kids but apparently, they don't get to use any of it. Preschool is about building social skills as well as working on pre-kindergarten objectives. But at LPS, you get snotty girls, a cd player reading stories, very little outside playing time, and the same old letter writing pages that the kids will get again in kindergarten. We thankfully found a better fit. read more

We discovered Livermore Playschool a little over 5 years ago, and I am so glad we did. My daughter started in the Jr K program, and went all the way through the after school program until end of 3rd grade. We have had the best experience. The Jr K program prepared her so well for kindergarten, my daughter was able to read and write and was so confident it was fantastic. She was able to work independently, and loves to do homework. She now reads at at 12th grade level and is only in 4th grade!! My son has been there since he was 2, and is now in 1st grade in the after school program as well. He went through the 2, 3, and Pre K programs and enjoyed them all. The teachers were loving, and very patient. He too now loves school. He is very confident, and works independently and loves to read. He is exceeding all expectations in academics as well. I know my children are doing as well as they are in school due to the wonderful, knowledgable teachers at LPS. Not only can I rave about the teachers, I can also say the meals and snacks they serve are wonderful. My children have been offered such a wide variety of foods, things they would have most likely never tried at home. The teachers encourage them to try new foods, and they actually do. My daughter went from eating only macaroni and cheese to eating enchiladas, jicama, a wide variety of fruits and vegetables, and so much more!!! I am so thankful we found them and I have recommended the school to so many of my friends. read more
