Aneesh, I SWEAR you are my bff. I literally look forward to waking up at the god awful hour of 5am just to hear you!!! You were the missing piece to the morning show. While I am sad La is no longer with the show, Natasha has grown on me. I have been a fan of Joey over the years, and this mix of the 3 is just perfect. We love the morning show, the topics they cover, and all 3 of their personalities. I had no idea there was an option to review the station until today. So here it is! Thank you guys, for always putting a smile on my face, we will continue to be loyal listeners!

Love the morning mess and the vibe it puts out. Hate the music they play. Wish they could replace Dana cortez on power 98.

Pay no attention to the review by iain B., this radio station is Very Good. It is a master's…read moredegree in political science and a doctorate in COMMON SENSE! Which is what conservatism really is when you peel off all the BS stickers and labels the confused and easily misled like to slap onto conservative thinkers or speakers. I started listening to the station a couple days after 9/11 when I realized CNN, NBC and the rest of the alphabet media was just recycling the SAME OLD news footage of the towers crumbling over and over ad nauseum minus any real information. I wanted to know more about these enemies of my beloved country! (that I didn't even know I had, thanks to the sissified mainstream media) What kind of people would commit this kind of atrocity? Why did the Towers pancake so badly? The who, what, where, how, and why of real journalism was supplied by the various hosts and guests on KFYI. Ten years later, I am still a loyal listener. Yes, the commercials are annoying, and sometimes ludicrous - But aren't they all? KFYI will give you information and knowledge, not edited, censored, and politically correct pablum like the mainstream news stations deliver - If you are woman or man enough to take it.....I suggest listening to the station daily for just a couple weeks to see if you like it.

Heads up to the engineering team: your news update audio is totally blown out. The levels are so…read morehigh that the speakers pop, forcing me to mute the app every half hour. It feels very unprofessional for a major station. Please fix the gain on your news recordings ASAP! For your reference, here is what is happening (again, there is no way I believe you don't know this already): The technical term for this specific scenario is Input Clipping or Preamp Clipping. This happens at the very beginning of the audio chain:Mic Overload: If the person is shouting or too close to the mic, the sound pressure might exceed the microphone's Maximum SPL (Sound Pressure Level), causing the mic's own internal components to distort.Preamp Clipping: The most common culprit. The microphone sends a signal to a preamplifier to boost its volume. If the Input Gain on that preamp is set too high, the signal "hits the ceiling" of what the electronics can handle.A/D Clipping: In digital recording, if the boosted signal is too "hot" when it hits the Analog-to-Digital converter, the tops of the sound waves are chopped off, resulting in harsh, digital static.Because the distortion is "baked in" at the source, turning down your own volume won't fix the sound--you'll just be listening to quieter distortion. This is often referred to as a failure in Gain Staging, which is the process of managing volume levels at each step of the recording process to ensure a clean signal.

My review is about the the tour of the radio station - a pretty amazing place relative to the…read moretechnology and it is kept in top shape and did you know KJZZ was was one of the top 5 public radio stations in the country? Some discrepancy in the tour information as my tour guide seemed to be a bit more well informed than the other tour guide, based on the discussion of the two groups (our groups split into two smaller groups for the tour). If you do go tour the radio station set the tour so you can go to the cafe downstairs, in the Rio Salado Community College building - the restaurant is manned by students from the Scottsdale Culinary Institute and the food looks great, and it is well priced as it is a student run restaurant. If I could recommend anything to improve the tour - start with a quick video of the history of public radio - how did it come into existence, when did it start in Phoenix? What constitutes a listener? We got a feel for all the various initiatives of the KJZZ station, and they are amazing but about half my group did not know anything about public radio so I think a multimedia piece to provide context would be a good idea and it would make the tour a bit more substantive. Oh, we did find out people can volunteer to do some readings for the blind, for the Sun Sounds initiative for the visually impaired and a number of those in my group are considering doing some volunteering - a great way to get in some volunteer time and make a difference. Overall though, greatly enjoyed the tour and I'm extremely appreciative for the opportunity.

There's lots of news coming from NPR that I don't agree with. I think they take a liberal slant and…read morethey do not offer much for conservative viewpoints. You shouldn't know a reporter's politics from their story, and yet, here we are. I'm never a fan of yelling at the radio but I spent a bit of time trying hard to listen through the filter and not disagree. That didn't go so well. Is it too much to ask for unbiased news? Can you interview people who offer both sides of a story? It was an hour of entertainment that could have been better. [Review 17516 overall - 102 in Arizona - 1034 of 2022.]
