They also have a great a large knowledge of a lot of the books they sell. They often can give you a good summary of the book. The prices are very good as well. It's the large space formerly occupied by Pier 1, and they have transformed this into a spacious and amazing media store! 2nd & Charles is a subsidiary of Books-A-Million, and like its parent store, they sell lots of books! This includes used books, which have been in short supply in this area since Cottonwood Books sadly closed. However, this store has lots more! I saw pretty much every kind of physical media represented, as well as lots of cards and pop culture collectibles. There were magazines, comics, music (including vinyl, movies, and even some musical instruments! The staff were going about asking customers if they needed assistance, and there was a line of people checking out with their newly found books and other items. Everyone seemed to be happy with this new business when I visited. I'm glad to see new businesses coming into Baton Rouge, especially book-related businesses!

Barnes & Noble (B&N) at LSU meets the needs of the University, and the larger Baton Rouge…read morecommunity. They are conveniently located right across Highland from the Student Union Building. There is a pay to park multi-level garage attached to the rear of the building if you need it. The B&N itself is large and spacious, occupying two floors. Most of the downstairs floor space is devoted to one of the most extensive collections of LSU merchandise in Baton Rouge. Clothing, home items, tailgating paraphernalia, and toys are all here in their purple and gold glory. There is literally a whole wall covered in hats! Another important downstairs area is the B&N Café, which serves Starbucks Coffee, but is not an actual Starbucks location. Upstairs, are the books. You need to have those in a bookstore of course. There is the textbook area, where students can get their required reading for classes. Then there are the other bookshelves which include a selection of stock that you would find at other B&N locations. In addition to these features, the upstairs is where you find the Apple Authorized Campus Store. This area includes, Macs, iPads, and other Apple products all available at an educational discount price to students and other qualified buyers (and at regular prices to others). This Apple enclave is like a mini-Apple Store within a store. Overall, the B&N at LSU is tailored to its community. It meets many needs, and is a great place to browse or spend time. One can enjoy both the indoor and outdoor seating areas, have lunch or a snack, and read or work. It's a good place to visit if you are in the LSU area.

Didn't find anything I really wanted though; many of the crafted items were poor quality, it'd be nice if they replaced the badly made wooden boxes with used or antique ones, and maybe included some local candlemakers and other artisans.
