We really enjoyed our meal here. The food and service were both excellent. We started the meal with…read morea bottle of Beau Sud Rose wine and that was quite good if you disregard the cartoonish label. For the starter we had the fried peppers. These were shaped like little hot peppers but they were not hot. We really liked that dish. For the main course, I had the cod & chips and my wife had the chicken hogao. Both arrived very hot and tasted great. The tartar sauce with mine was made at the restaurant and was excellent. The only issue with the tartar sauce was there was so little of it. By the time we finished there was no room for desert. We really like this place and may return tonight if we get back from Cambridge in time.

We were lucky enough to stay here in one of the lodges on a Secret Escapes deal…read more The lodges are part of a recent refurbishment to the pub and are nestled quietly at the back, surrounding a massive fire pit. Each lodge is unique in its design, and has its own private outdoor area complete with fireplace and chairs to snuggle up. We stayed in the Pretty Vacant lodge, the focal point being a massive Vacant/Occupied sign above the bed, which you could move from vacant to occupied. Attention to detail is key, and the room provides the guest with a host of thoughtful extras. From the local toiletries in the bathroom which you could purchase in the village, to the delicious cream tea that welcomes you in the room. We had dinner that evening in the pub. The food was really delicious, and well portioned. A similar themed followed at breakfast the following morning. The entire pub and accommodation is really quirky, and the staff are very friendly and helpful. Whilst there is not much to do in the surrounding village, this does not matter as The Bell is so charming you don't want to leave the room, or venture any further for food.

Lovely old building....used to be The Wellington Hotel back in the 1800's....very grand…read more However, time takes it toll, and it has has deteriorated. The rooms are very basic, only one chair and the windows are prevented from opening...soooooo, when it's scorching, you get a fan that not very effective!!! The all-you-can-eat breakfast isn't worth the £7.75 they charge for, (it is cheaper when you book online....only £6.50). Still not worth it. £3.00 Daily car parking charge, but they don't guarantee you a place. So, if you pay your money and can't park......go and get your money back!!!!!! They cannot charge you and then NOT provide the service. Can't recommend here

We stayed here a couple of weeks ago for the football…read more Travelodge has taken over an old hotel so it looks a bit grander than other travelodges. The rooms are also wildly different as I had a massive room, while some of the boys upstairs had attic rooms complete with severely sloping roofs. One thing Travelodge haven't updated are the floorboards, as not only can you hear your own creaking as you walk to the toilet, you can also hear upstairs wandering around and if you're unfortunate enough to be by the staircase, you can hear people trampling up and down stairs too. Another thing that let the hotel down was a lack of air conditioning. An early-May stay isn't the hottest that hotel is going to be, but with old and bolted sash windows, we were roasting. We also had to pay for parking, which seemed a bit tight as there were hardly any cars in the car park. Alright just to put our heads down for the night, but I don't think I'd stay again given the choice.

It is not everyday you can find such a reasonably priced guest house right opposite the sea making…read moreit so accessible to just cross the road and walk along the shore. You got all your main attraction in Hastings such as the town centre, the old town and the funicular railway all within walking distance. Same goes for the station itself. The guest house was a lovely warm yellow, you cannot miss it on the main street. But I praise this place for the detail to attention in every aspect of the house. Dale and Jo who runs it obviously has obviously put a lot of love and care into this place seen by all the family photos, beautiful collection of plates and paintings of Hastings. Everything was in place and well organised. Rooms were equipped with everything you need from a fridge, television, iron, hair-dryer and even lovely cookies and biscuits to enjoy with the selection of teas and coffee. There was even a ceiling fan and plentiful of mirrors for those who wants to do a #selfie. Free wifi too although we couldn't connect to the server upstairs so we used downstairs instead. It wasn't fast enough for streaming but good enough to read emails etc. Beds were amazingly comfy. We chose the double room and it came with a lovely firm king size bed made of two singles put together and lovely pillows and cushions. Shower had a dispenser of shower gel, shampoo and conditioner and were all very well maintained and cleaned. In fact the whole B&B was very clean and well maintained. As soon as we entered and settled in we were given all the information we need to venture on our own adventure in Hastings. Dale in particular was very informative and engaging. Don't think we ever saw him frown even when asked the most peculiar questions. Even during breakfast he was making sure no one was left in silence and made regular small talk with those who made eye contact with him. He was great at making recommendations too if anyone had trouble deciding where to go or eat. Breakfast had an excellent selection of hot and cold items with your usual full English and vegetarian option if you request beforehand. Within the three days I got to try their soy porridge, croissant, kippers and poached eggs, cheese and mushroom omelette and a few bits from their full English. It was standard, nothing fancy but all very fresh and satisfying. I particularly liked their coffee which was very smooth and rich as I like it. We also started each day with an orange juice. Would recommend they add another fruit juice like just for more variety. Although we did not get the sea view it was available for those who booked early enough. It had the charm, the perfect location and all the things you need to relax after a fun day out and about. Dale and Jo were even kind enough to let us leave our baggage after checking out at 10am to do our last wander round the town before coming back to collect it and head for departure. I definitely recommend Seaspray to anyone wanting to stay in Hastings. Make sure you do book early as spaces disappear quickly.
