It is not everyday you can find such a reasonably priced guest house right opposite the sea making it so accessible to just cross the road and walk along the shore. You got all your main attraction in Hastings such as the town centre, the old town and the funicular railway all within walking distance. Same goes for the station itself.
The guest house was a lovely warm yellow, you cannot miss it on the main street. But I praise this place for the detail to attention in every aspect of the house. Dale and Jo who runs it obviously has obviously put a lot of love and care into this place seen by all the family photos, beautiful collection of plates and paintings of Hastings. Everything was in place and well organised.
Rooms were equipped with everything you need from a fridge, television, iron, hair-dryer and even lovely cookies and biscuits to enjoy with the selection of teas and coffee. There was even a ceiling fan and plentiful of mirrors for those who wants to do a #selfie. Free wifi too although we couldn't connect to the server upstairs so we used downstairs instead. It wasn't fast enough for streaming but good enough to read emails etc.
Beds were amazingly comfy. We chose the double room and it came with a lovely firm king size bed made of two singles put together and lovely pillows and cushions. Shower had a dispenser of shower gel, shampoo and conditioner and were all very well maintained and cleaned. In fact the whole B&B was very clean and well maintained.
As soon as we entered and settled in we were given all the information we need to venture on our own adventure in Hastings. Dale in particular was very informative and engaging. Don't think we ever saw him frown even when asked the most peculiar questions. Even during breakfast he was making sure no one was left in silence and made regular small talk with those who made eye contact with him. He was great at making recommendations too if anyone had trouble deciding where to go or eat.
Breakfast had an excellent selection of hot and cold items with your usual full English and vegetarian option if you request beforehand. Within the three days I got to try their soy porridge, croissant, kippers and poached eggs, cheese and mushroom omelette and a few bits from their full English. It was standard, nothing fancy but all very fresh and satisfying. I particularly liked their coffee which was very smooth and rich as I like it. We also started each day with an orange juice. Would recommend they add another fruit juice like just for more variety.
Although we did not get the sea view it was available for those who booked early enough. It had the charm, the perfect location and all the things you need to relax after a fun day out and about. Dale and Jo were even kind enough to let us leave our baggage after checking out at 10am to do our last wander round the town before coming back to collect it and head for departure.
I definitely recommend Seaspray to anyone wanting to stay in Hastings. Make sure you do book early as spaces disappear quickly. read more
