One of my main concerns during this postpartum period was how the arrival of a little sister might affect my older daughter and impact my relationship with her. My chiropractor had mentioned my son was tongue tied early on, but after several doctors deemed our…read morechild not tongue tied, I just assumed he wasn't and somewhat brushed my chiropractor off which in hindsight was not smart. But... after 3 awful months of plugged ducts, mastitis, multiple visits to a lactation center trying to get our latch right, I went to the Pomegranate Center and joined Tanya's Breastfeeding Support Class. Tanya was patient, caring, and really listened to our experience up until that point. She then watched me nurse for a while and then stopped us to check his tongue because she suspected he was tongue tied based on his latch. She noticed my son had a posterior tongue tie which was very difficult to diagnosis. Tanya was so kind and answered all my questions and concerns around moving forward with the procedure. We ended up going with Dr. Yazdi in Castro Valley (bit of a drive) but was a wonderful doctor. After the procedure, we had a home visit where she followed up on our son's procedure, taught us exercises to do, and answer any follow up questions we had. She also had us nurse again and gave any follow up tips, etc. after procedure. I went on to nurse until my son was 18 months! I'm so grateful to Tanya. Highly recommend.

Even though my children are 18 months apart and I breastfed my first child, I called Sandy because I just wanted to touch up my latching skills and my midwife said that my son had a slight tongue tie when he was born. Sandy entered my home with reverence and attunement 5 days after my son was born and inspected my son's latch and mouth. She found his tongue tie to be mild and reassured me...now he is almost 6 months, is gaining weight perfectly and I am proud to say we have an awesome breastfeeding relationship! I am so glad she and I met! A wonderful human and very skilled in her work. (I only wish I had known about her for my first child, who got in a bad habit of a shallow latch, which means breastfeeding her is a little less comfortable). Anyone would be lucky to work with her!

The session went well and I found Marci to be a very knowledgable hands-on PT who was also empathic! The caveat is that when I went to pay for the session she informed me that they don't take United Healthcare Medicare PPO Insurance. I was taken aback as I had spoken to Katlyn the Operations Manager and she had assured me that they would take my Insurance but that I would need to send in the "super bills" directly to them and would get reimbursed. She had the form I had emailed in with all my personal info but neglected to tell me that they don't take Medicare which for me was a big omission. Her bio on the website states that she " ensures every visit is a smooth and supportive experience" and a "seamless" one however, it was not for me as I was put in the uncomfortable position of having to pay $ 249. out of pocket. After sitting with the discomfort of feeling misled by Katlyn whom I felt did not do her job properly by inquiring about my Medicare and informing me before the visit. I sent an email to Marci about my feeling misled by Katlyn and what I described as a lack of integrity but heard nothing back as to her and Katlyn taking more responsibility for the situation I was put in. which is why I decided to write this mixed review which is highly uncommon for me. As I noted, I appreciated Marci's PT expertise but I am left feeling disheartened and taken advantage of in paying for the visit that I had no choice about and cost way more than anticipated !

With some new running shoe recommendations (I was formerly a fan of Big 5 shoes ;), correct alignment, and some ongoing exercises to strengthen my areas of weakness, I have been able to continue my active lifestyle.
