We came on the evening on a Friday, which is perfect for just talking a nice stroll or hike around, but after seeing that they had a bearded dragon (Matilda) and a chuckwalla (Chuck), I knew I had to come back again to meet them. Parking is free and love the wildlife that is around here. Not just the butterflies that I've seen fluttering about but also the coyote that trotted across the lot to cross the street. This is also a great location to find activities to do with the family or with the community. They have a 4 H Club, a community garden that you can sign up for, an entire calendar of events for the month, a Blacksmithing workshop/demonstration, and much more. We were limited on time and didn't get to see the historical buildings or the restored structures, nor was the Blacksmith Shop open, but for our next visit, I'll be sure to check them out. Outside you can meet the alpaca that they have hanging out (freshly shaved for the summer, so it was funny to see the little tufts of hair that they had on their head) and some of their goats too. Now to the highlight of my visit, the Environmental Education Center. Obviously this is meant for kids and families, but I had a great time meeting their animal ambassadors (I didn't ask for them to be taken out, but I'm sure there are events and moments for that) and learning more about them. The staff there are very friendly, welcoming, and informative. It makes me happy to know that the ambassadors that I inquired about were rescues and they have a second chance at life and in educating the community. My favs were obviously Matilda and Chuck, but there are also various snakes, turtles, a toad, fish, tarantulas, and stick bugs. The center also has books, opportunities for hands on observations and journaling for kids, puppets and educational toys and exhibits, and much more. Definitely will come back!

Lot's of friendly and passionate volleyball players of all ages (starting at teen and going up to senior citizen). This place also has a nice fitness gym. The staff is friendly. The hours work for us (8 am to 5 pm weekdays). Good selection of cardio and strength building equipment. The value is incredible- $100 for the year, or a daily drop in fee that is very reasonable (I forget what it is).

For years now, the parking lot has become a homeless camp/meetup place with abandoned-looking…read morevehicles, people hanging out in their cars all day and night, and chop shop vans, so, in order to walk to the field or get to the main building on foot, you have to walk through an array of vans and cars (sometimes a few, sometimes several). There doesn't appear to be any security, and the area gets very dark, empty, and isolated-looking in the evening. There are at least two designated homeless parking facilities in San Jose that also provide services, food, case management, and so on. At the very least, if the Cambrian Community Center is going to permit all this going on in the parking lot, they should provide additional security and lighting.

I prefer to buy experiences as opposed to stuff for gifts, so I bought my son an Intro to Blacksmithing class because I have known about his interest in metallurgy for some time. The Good: * Private parking lot, as well as street parking. Be sure to check signage, though, as some of the spaces are reserved for neighboring businesses. * More than just blacksmithing, they also have axe throwing and a slew of art classes, as well as stained glass making, welding, screen printing, painting, and more. Check out their website for details. * Easy to sign up, as all you need is a credit card and an Eventbrite account. * They provide everything you need to do what you need to do. The only thing you need to bring is your brain and possibly a bottle of water, but the latter is optional as they do have a water cooler with cups one can access. * The teacher of the class was a gentleman named Wyatt, who I believe owns this space with his wife, and he is a phenomenal teacher. He explains things very clearly, is patient, and is a master blacksmith to boot. He was also kind enough to let me snap a few photos while I hung out. The Meh: * There is a chance the class might get rescheduled if there is not much interest in the date you signed up for, so try to be flexible. * If you sign up your child and they are less than 18 years old (at least for the blacksmithing class), you will need to stick around and keep an eye on them. The Ugly: * This is not necessarily a bad thing, but be prepared to stay for longer than the class time indicates. It is advertised as a 3-hour course, but I believe all told we were there nearly 5 hours because they want you to finish your project. So bring a snack and get it done! Conclusion: Fantastic place for teambuilding, giving as a gift, or expanding your own horizons. Buy experiences and not things!

The only shared equipment was the grinders, and there were 6 for our class of 10. There are competitor classes in the area that are cheaper, but I was very happy with my experience here. Parking is easy because there's a dedicated lot. It's a huge makerspace, so there was an open mic night, a photography session, and welding all happening in other places around the warehouse. What a cool environment! Khaled was a very energetic, kind, and supportive instructor. I'm honestly not that pleased with the quality of my work and would love to try again now that I have more experience. I'd come back for an intermediate class, but their website doesn't show any.

I found this community garden and thought that on top of taking a look and see veggies growing and butterflies flying around, we could have a bite sitting there and smelling the aromas of Spring. We were not expecting that much, but honestly this community garden is awesome! Well protected with fences and trees, funnily you can find artichoke plants outside the walls! All plots are very well organized and looks like the growers-neighbors take good care of them. It is very enjoyable just to walk there. We also learned that there are classes in situ and various community activities, so very educational for children and adults alike. Speaking of children, needless to say that the kidult in me had a blast playing a the tipi tent and posing for pics in front of those colorful little cottages where the tools are kept, as well as played with some kitchenettes and mini picnic tables. I didn't ask if the plots are only opened to Sunnyvale residents...in any case, once you visit there, you will feel the love for agriculture instantly.

The staff from booking to delivery were top notch and very helpful and accommodating. Our guests loved it and were very complimentary of the venue. I use this community center to hangout with friends at the Cafeteria, the courtyard and the Library too, they're in the same building. I like that this spot is different from other libraries in San Jose. I usually like to come here during the day time weekdays and weekends, less kids and distractions. lol!
