That building is the Cape Coral Art Center now. I just went today and I'm 52 years old. Lots of memories... I especially remember Mr. Haines and his mini steam locomotive displays; his wife taught me violin and that's my career now. Don't forget you can rent movies and ebooks on your tablets and streamer boxes without stepping in the door! Also I've been voting there since I turned 18... everyone is so nice! I've done violin show and tell for the littles a few times at the various libraries in the system.

The facility itself is clean, organized and immense. Well stocked with a variety of books, DVD's etc., There is a separate children's room. You may check your books out at the self check out kiosks which I find great. Also, return them to an automated return to the left of the front door. Very quick and easy. There is an after hours/drive thru return at the front of the building just follow the signs. You may sign up on line and they send you friendly reminders as to when your books are due. And the library in North Fort Myers has a section I love: "Read and Return." Unsure what this is, the librarian explained that they're books that one borrows without checking out. "Take as long as you'd like to read them," she said. "A good resource for snowbirds who may or may not bring the books back," she added. As a snowbird myself -- who returned books on my quick trip back to FL this week -- I'm a fan of this section. There are some good reads, and to keep the shelves stocked, I donate books that others might enjoy.

The facility is roomy and airy with neatly organized shelves of books, magazines and other media. Masks are encouraged but not required. They also have a contactless pickup where you can reserve books online and the library will bring them out to you in your car. Note that you do not need to be a North Fort Myers resident to use the library. It is open to all, though only local residents can borrow materials. Now I won't need to purchase as many books for book club or leisure reading. But, she really made it a fun exchange. I quickly located two books on my list, looked up a third that I couldn't find (not available at this library) and we used the self-check out kiosk, which was very easy and quick. We visited around 2:30 PM on a Mondayin July and it was not very busy at all. I will most definitely be back to return today's books and borrow some more!

I was excited for the new library to reopen, but they made the story time room so small that only a few kids can attend, and registration fills up instantly. Definitely a value beyond the $10. You might think this is a small town so the library will not have a lot of titles, but I was really pleasantly surprised at how many copies they had in stock of recent best sellers, popular movies, etc. We also took our baby to the baby and toddler story time on Tuesday morning, which was a great event that we all really enjoyed!
