I was absolutely scared out of my mind finding the first school for her to attend. She is my second child. My first child is non verbal autistic, so I'm only used to dealing with the special Ed part of public schools. This was my first time finding a school for my child who can understand things, learn academically, ECT. I know for a fact I am spelling her name wrong-but you pronounce the name as "Ms. Ken". When I dropped my daughter off for the first day of school, I absolutely fell in love with Ms Ken. And for the entire year, Ms. Ken has been the most amazing, most compassionate, most caring teacher I have ever experienced. My daughter has learned the alphabet, counting her numbers, about all kinds of animals, and SO much more, in just one year. She even came home one day and said all 12 months-i didn't even know she knew all her months!! I was shocked and SO proud of her! I feel like my daughter has blossomed in the one year she has been with peppertree. You can tell Ms Ken is so passionate about her job. I am SO happy that Ms. Ken was my daughter's first teacher experience she got to have for her first time going to any school ever. I am also so thankful that my daughter has learned the love of America at this school as well. She always has projects coloring red, white and blue stuff and she always gets excited saying "mom I drew the American flag colors today!". It is SO important for kids to learn love for their country at an early age, and you just never see that appreciation of America in public schools anymore, so that's oe thing I am SO grateful for. My child loves America and learns about America in Ms Kens class. I'm so happy about that. Ms Cheryl, the director is a ray of sunshine. Every morning I drop my daughter off, Ms Cheryl greets us with the warmest welcome, and never forgets to say goodbye when we leave. It's those little gestures that makes us feel so comfortable. I have two babies that I am definitely going to enroll in peppertree when they turn 4. We love this school so much.

As a bilingual child, we have seen a huge improvement in her English, but even more importantly, we have watched her become more confident, independent, and comfortable expressing herself. One of the things we love most about the school is the amount of outdoor and unstructured play. It is so refreshing to see children encouraged to be children. Watching them play in the mud kitchen, collect rocks, search for worms and frogs, and explore nature has been wonderful. The teachers don't take over their play--they observe, listen, and step in only when needed. Because of this, our daughter has learned how to communicate with her friends, work through small disagreements, create her own games, and build confidence in her own ideas. The teachers are incredible. Communication has always been easy, and I am constantly impressed by how well they know each child. It feels like they truly see and understand who your child is, even in a short amount of time. The learning experiences are thoughtful and engaging. This year, the children watched chicks hatch and followed their journey in the classroom, which was absolutely fascinating. Our daughter would come home excited to tell us about what she had learned. I also have to mention the events and celebrations. The amount of care and attention that goes into creating meaningful memories for the children and families is something really special. Whether it was Mother's Day, Father's Day, or the Christmas musical, every event felt heartfelt and memorable. Seeing our little girl on stage during the Christmas performance is a memory I will cherish forever. The parent-teacher conferences are also incredibly thoughtful and well organized. We always left feeling informed, supported, and reassured. The teachers take the time to discuss your child's progress in detail and answer every question with care and honesty. Most importantly, throughout our time at The Way Preschool, we always felt that our daughter was loved, safe, and genuinely cared for. As a parent, there is nothing more important than that. Knowing my maternity leave ended at the beginning of March 2024, we started our search a few weeks after his birth. We took a tour at this location in December of 2023 and was told at that time there "should be an opening" for our son. My husband being in the Navy had to have a form completed and submitted before we could move forward. My husband had the form signed by employee Vanessa Jan. 12th of 2024 and was told by her at that time there was no need to complete the enrollment process on that day as it would be completed closer to his start date sometime in February. My husband had birth certificate, shot records etc. needed to enroll on the 12th of Jan., but was still told by Vanessa to wait until February. Two weeks into February and two weeks before my return to work, we had not heard from them, so we called to set up a time to enroll. We were then told Vanessa had gone on maternity leave and they were not sure why she told us a spot would be available, as there wasn't one. They went as far to say we had missed a call back in December (before our tour) and because of this were taken off the wait list since they "couldn't reach us". My husband provided a copy of the signed document by their employee Vanessa completed Jan. 12th 2024 (which he obtained in person) and was still told this in no way meant our son had a spot. My husband spoke to the director of this location who instead of taking responsibility for her employees mistake and doing what she could to make it right ASAP, made it seem as though this was somehow our fault and would try to resolve the issue in a few days with no guarantees. My husband has served 14 years in the military and I am a licensed professional. We have two other children and have used daycare in the past. We understand how to make sure things are taken care of timely and correctly. I am surprised a "reputable" place like this could be mismanaged so poorly and I can only imagine if this is how they treat new potential customers, what other surprises we would have run into a long the way. They have left our family in a terrible bind as finding a new daycare (that I want my son to attend) in two weeks is next to impossible. I felt it was my responsibility to share our experience with the community.

This is how the conversation went. wife: we know an autistic kid when we see one, we've been in the business for over 27 years... you know? he's not acting normal... me: How does a "normal" 2 year old act anyways.. the wife: You want to know what a normal 2 year old is like, well he wouldn't be running all over the place playing with toys (we were in a classroom filled with toys) and he would be holding your hand right on your hip and scared because he was in a new environment. instant tears Told me they wouldn't be able to accommodate him in anyway and the wife asked multiple questions in a snarky way such as "can he follow simple directions?" "can he even wash his hands" "can he understand commands" "well we know an autistic kid when we see one" "what size shirt is he in" and then followed with telling me to take him off all sugars and put him on a diet.. left me in TEARS. The whole time the wife and husband (owners) were talking to me in the 2 year old class there was a teacher who was trying her best not to intervene but i can tell she was extremely uncomfortable as i stood there crying. After leaving and calling my sons case manager with early start there are multiple violations due to being understaffed and having too many children to teacher ratios. This happened August of 2021 and I finally got the courage to speak up after hearing about the incident that happened at the Rancho Cucamonga kiddie academy.
