Stopped in for chips, sausage and beans and was really impressed. Portions were a bit on the small side, but everything tasted spot on -- the beans especially were rich and full of flavour, and the curry sauce was really nice too. The staff were friendly and polite, and even though it took around 10 minutes for the food, there's seating so it wasn't a bother. Clean place, good atmosphere, and food that actually tastes homemade. Definitely worth a visit. read more

Extremely busy in there today but the fish and chips were amazing. The lady that took my order was very sweet and gave me extra scraps. Would recommend this place if you're visiting from out of town. read more
Dear Little Chip, Once upon a time--about 15 years ago--I trekked across fields of snow just to get to your little shoppe. My cousins told me of a wonderful place by the North Sea that served up fish n' chips. I was in need of something fried and greasy to up my production of lipids so I'll feel extra warm during that bloody cold winter in Redcar. When I got there, I was excited to eat up the perfectly fried and DELICIOUS fish n' fries (I believe it was because they were fried in pork fat) wrapped in newspaper. The flavors were enhanced with a light sprinkling of malt vinegar and salt. I suddenly forgot the numbing cold trek back to the house once I carried 3+ bundles of your scrumptrulescent fish n' chips that, to this day, remain my gold standard for fish n' chips worldwide. I've searched hi and lo for comparable fare here in the States. When I accumulate the means again to just leave at the drop of a hat and travel to some distant country because of a food craving.... I will definitely go back...even trudge through fields of snow again... and be back at your doorstep... to once again enjoy your pork-fat-fried-fish n' chips. (I'm excited that they now have Durham Tees Valley airport nearby!.. I can get there more directly than going through Heathrow!) Love you lots... and till we meet again, grace. ( | ) read more

This used to be the best chip shop in the area and has even won awards! Now although it is still nice we sometimes get some that aren't quite as tasty as usual. The price has also gone up recently but that is probably due to the rising cost of cod. There is a small inside area to eat which available to everyone at no extra cost. The Scottish women who owns it is lovely and takes her time to chat to everyone making the waiting time go much quicker. You can park outside but only for a few minutes as its a restricted area. read more
