I have had my son enrolled here for almost three years (from a little before 2 years old to almost 5). Teacher Yan and her staff are incredibly attentive to various social, emotional, and learning needs of each child. I originally only intended to keep my son here for a year or two until he could go to a pre-school, but he and I loved Little Bean so much that I decided to keep him here until he was ready for Kindergarten. My son started as a shy, nervous toddler and has really grown in his confidence, leadership, emotional regulation, Chinese comprehension, and practical life skills, with all of the support from the Little Bean teachers. I really don't know how I could have raised my son to be like he is now without his experience at Little Bean. There are so many positives at Little Bean: home-made meals and snacks provided, full-day operation, affordable, Mandarin and English-speaking (with some bonus Cantonese), low ratio of kids to teachers for more attention to each child, experienced with children of all ages, helps your child build social and life skills at their own pace, daily communication with parents, balanced schedule of play, art, and academics, weekly learning themes that are clearly communicated, potty training assistance, transparent, clean, licensed. My son started at Little Bean Daycare when he was just 7 months old. At the time, I toured several other daycares and was seriously considering leaving my job--the thought of sending my infant to any of those other places was simply unimaginable. We are so grateful to have sent both our children to Little Bean! Teacher Yan and the whole staff all genuinely care for each of these children and makes sure to accommodate each individual need from allergies, learning styles, language barriers, you name it! The curriculum is always well put together with a weekly theme that is fun and relevant. Our children have gotten a lot of quality time and lessons that is catered to the whole range of children that attend. It never ceases to amaze me how much effort Teacher Yan puts into the daily projects such as cooking, science experiments and local field trips around the neighborhood. At each pickup, Teacher Yan will take the time to provide parents with a brief summary of the child's day which we found extremely helpful. Little Bean Daycare is an absolute gem and there's no one I'd trust more to care for my kids.Teacher Yan and her team has given so much love, and care for my daughter since she was 7 months old until it was time for her to go on to preschool and same for my son when it was his turn attending. I cannot thank Teacher Yan enough for teaching our kids and us on how to be better as parents including getting my kids to eat and nap which we struggled with prior to enrolling in her daycare, being more patient and not rushing achieving milestones among many other things. We enjoyed seeing all the fun crafts, gifts and sometimes even food that my kids make. She also hosted special celebrations for birthdays (bringing the bouncy house out) and events like Easter and Halloween and involved all the parents. Can't say enough of teacher Yan and her group. They took care of our boys from 2-3 and now we ve moved to you and I children center in SSF. Communicative, always loving and positive. They utilize Brightwheel app, send updated photos announcements reminders which is so helpful to keep everything in one spot. Breakfast lunch and snacks included, mandarin immersion (but you don't have to speak it yourself, I don't!) Only 12 kids (2021-2022). Outdoor area in back and sand box play structure and jumping house on special occasions. Less expensive than many in SF, great value Not the cheapest but do you want the cheapest? Id gladly pay more with teacher Yan. Don't tell her that. There's probably a waiting list, put your name on it, meet with her, tour her home and you'll be convinced too. read more

We absolutely love Teacher Yan and Little Bean! It was hard for my husband and I to send our 11 month old at the time to daycare when we both grew up only being cared for by family. When we went to meet Teacher Yan when interviewing schools we instantly felt at ease and knew this was the perfect fit. She knows how to truly connect and engage with kids of various ages from infancy through toddlerhood. The transition was smooth and supportive not just in starting with Little Bean but in other major life events like stopping pacifier use or potty training. My toddler gets exposed to so many different educational topics, activities and outside time that she truly loves going to school with Teacher Yan. She sends out weekly plans for the week along with daily updates, and if we ever have any questions or concerns about our daughter, Teacher Yan is always available and willing to discuss. She also helps plan occasional field trips the kids love! We don't speak any Chinese at home but my daughter has been able to learn so much with ease! They serve delicious food at school and I always feel at ease knowing that my child will be well fed, and she sometimes critiques my own food for not being as good as what she gets at school. We even had our daughter experience a medical emergency while with Teacher Yan and she and the others helping her handled the situation beautifully while ensuring my daughter was safe but also caring for the other kids in explaining the situation and supporting all of them. Truly we feel that Teacher Yan is a gift and we are so grateful to have found someone who understands what kids truly need at this young age and what is developmentally appropriate. Little Bean Daycare was my savior. My kids started daycare ever since they were 4 months old and they were formally attending a larger commercial daycare facility, yet after several unexplained incidents I decided to disenroll them. Teacher Yan took care of my 18 month and 3-year-old five years ago when the daycare was located in SSF. I have nothing but great things to say about her. The following services that you can expect from teacher Yan and Little Bean daycare are: 1) Teacher Yan will love, take care of, and get to your child as an individual 2) Teacher Yan is honest and respectful 3) Healthy meals and snacks provided 4) Kids will have fun learning science, mandarin, math, storytime, etc.. 5) Tuition price point is more than fair for what you are receiving I forgot to mention, my daughter did not eat a variety of solid foods until the age of 3; because of Teacher Yan's encouragement and peer pressure, my child was able to eat a variety of foods. Teacher Yan is incredibly genuine, caring, and thoughtful. She truly gets to know each of the kids at her school and pays attention to their all-rounded development. She plans thematic activities for them, and sends parents weekly schedules. She somehow managed to teach our kid the alphabet, shapes, colors, how to hold a pencil, how to count to 30, all before the age of 3, but more importantly for us, she showed him how to interact with his friends. If one kid stumbles, for example, she'll encourage the other kids to help their friend instead of simply doing so herself (assuming it's a non-serious fall of course). She also does not count cost when it comes to the kids' well-being. After realizing that a few of them were starting to run around a bit too wildly on one of the playground structures in the backyard, she completely scrapped it and replaced it with something new. We also really appreciate how she takes the time to talk to parents when we pick up our kids each day, and that she gives honest feedback! She doesn't just say everything's good. Our kid's an extremely messy eater, for example, so she told us that and said she was working with him on it. There are just too many things we love about Teacher Yan and her school for me to write them all down here, but suffice it to say that our first kid loved going there every single day, both he and us have made great friends through the school, and we're absolutely bummed we won't be able to send our second kid there too because we're moving out of the area! Finding somewhere that matches up to Teacher Yan's place will be a tall order. read more

My daughter started at little bean daycare at the age of five months. She transferred to preschool recently at the age of 3.5 earlier this year in 2021 My son is now there. I HIGHLY recommend this day care for various reasons. 1) Owner Yan is an amazing , caring, very generous teacher. She is a mother of three kids herself so she has an extraordinary amount of experience with children. She and her husband were also former teachers in their country so again lots of experience teaching and working with children 2) The daycare is Mandarin/English which is a huge plus to learn a second language 3) Both my kids are very attached to her and this speaks volumes itself. Also, Yan seems to have unlimited patience, seriously! 4) Kids get breakfast and warm home cooked lunch ( very healthy) as well as snacks so you never have to worry about food 5) Weekly curriculum is sent out to parents informing of topics/activities/art/science on Sundays 6) Daily pictures of kids sent via email and sometimes through text message as well 7) Nice size yard and play structure with various bikes/cars 8) Celebrations and cake baking with the children as well as jumpy house on your kids birthday 9) No additional cost for potty training (rare for a daycare I think ) She doesn't nickel and dime you 10) Pre-Covid Christmas party for the kids and parents 11) Pre-Covid- date night for parents where daycare is extended to 10pm on Fridays for pick up ( for additional cost- extremely worth it) 12) Pre-covid: field trip to the zoo When I first started my children at little bean daycare, I was worried like any new parents would be but those worries quickly subsided. We sent our daughter to little bean daycare just a few months ago and we are very happy with this decision. Our daughter is taken great care of and has learned so much since then. Yan and other staff there are super nice and patient. The children read, exercise, play games, conducting scientific experiments and biology projects with the teacher. My kid surprises me with new things learned in the day care all the time. In addition, the teachers help the kids develop good habits. The teachers keep a good communication with the parents about each child. I also love to see the photos they send out everyday. My younger daughter started to attend Little Bean daycare during the pandemic when she was 11 months old. We were able to find Little Bean and teacher Yan, thanks for the recommendation from a teacher at my former employer-sponsored day care. First of all, it was really hard to send a 11-month old to a new daycare during pandemic. No one wants to catch COVID. So teacher Yan asked a lot of screening questions before allowing us to attend. She also enforces a strict mask-wearing policy for parents and kids that are older. This was good to know as we were comforted to know that this is a safe environment. Secondly, teacher Yan knows how to run daycare! Once my daughter was received, it was obvious that she immediately bound with the teacher, and the staff. She has been happily going to the daycare ever since the "first day". What else can a parent ask for if sending their kids to the school is effortless. Not only my daughter learnt to use potty before her second birthday, she is completely diaper-free with few accident at age 2 and 2 months. She also has acquired amazing vocabulary at this young age. She is independent, and she is social with other kids. On each kid's birthday, teacher Yan and the staff bake cakes for the kids, and have jumping house for kids to play. On every holidays and festivals, teacher Yan creates activities that help them to learn the tradition as well as words for these occasions. Last, but not the least, I am so impressed about how they take care of kids and the place so that for the first year my daughter was there, she or other kids did not has any symptoms such as running noses that I've seen in my older daughter's daycare. We were very fortunate to learn about Little Bean daycare when our twins were turning 1 year old. Our children learned so much and were so well cared for by the Little Bean director, Teacher Yan, and staff. The children learned, played, read, and learned Chinese songs and phrases. This home-based daycare was the perfect nurturing environment for small children. We would have continued to send our children to Little Bean until kindergarten, but moved out of the area just before they turned 4. Our older child (early elementary school) spent a week each summer as a guest student at Little Bean, plus some school in-service days, and was always happy to go to the school and lead science experiments and read to the little kids. For special occasions like holidays and preschool graduation, the school invited families to parties where the children performed songs in Chinese and English.
