Al-Faru is a notch above many in the area, with a very distinctive vibe; laid back hippy but friendly staff, serving top-notch and quite pricey tapas, served with a flourish. The provenance of all the ingredients is included on the menu, so you know exactly where your seafood, air-dried ham, cheeses and veg are sourced.
The main bar has tables on traditional wood decking with a bamboo roof and drop-down curtains for shade and/or protection from sea breezes, but at one end there's a teepee, for those who want the whole 1960s experience, sitting in a sea breeze, listening to an eclectic mix of music, with the crash of the waves in the distance.
The only downer is that service can be a bit haphazard (they got our orders cheerfully muddled up on a few occasions, but were so infectiously laid back about it, it was hard to get flustered).
