Lovely gardens in beautiful area. Poor ordering system (take menu, seat, wait): perhaps it would be better to allow people to order at the counter and take a numbered item to put on the table, since we waited about half-an-hour before interrupting the flustered-looking passing waitress to ask if we could order. She said something like, "Oh if you like" before taking our simple order of tea and scones for the four of us. Off she scurried to take another order, poor thing, and another half hour went by before we decided that we didn't wish to waste any more of our day waiting for something that doesn't even need to be cooked.. We'd been walking up around the Long Man hills and were rather gasping for a cuppa!
A lady we got talking to said that the scones didn't taste right. She wasn't sure if it was the butter or the actual scones but said that she was going to tell them before she left. Her and her mother had waited around 45 minutes for their tea and scones they said. You would think that they would anticipate being busy on a nice weekend Mother's day in Spring.. We thought we saw the owner run to and rush off in his car at one point.. Ran out of something we supposed..
