It's one of those squared antique fire places, small, all black iron. One day I was passing by and decided to go to ask the price of the antique fireplace. When the salesman told me it cost £699 I went back home to my good old wall heater. It's not cheap but the fireplaces there are all top quality, I'd definitely recommend it if you have the dish and are in the market for a new fireplace.

When I turned up in the shop I also had my son in the pushchair. The guys behind the counter patienty explained what I would need, went to get it for me as I couldn't manoeuvre the pushchair round the narrow shelves and then showed me how to use it. Thy even fitted the grout ino the gun thingy for me. Now, that is hat I call service. The price is good, the service great and it's a bit like a DIY grotto, what more could you possibly want from a local shop.

DAMPCO undertook extensive work at my property on the recommendation of my builder. It is a very busy street and I was legally liable for damage to persons or their property, eg. a woman passing by with a pram on her way to the school opposite the house. The builder finally got the owner of the company to come and view after missed appointments. He said the pipe should be re-routed and that was done. I paid the bill - around the £6,000 mark - immediately after completion of the job. However it then took 6 months for me to get a proper guarantee for the work. The reason this was important was that I had been told that the water pump needed servicing every 6 months and I wanted to ensure that I maintained the conditions of the guarantee. The builder thought that this was rather frequent so I made many phone calls and sent recorded delivery letter to ask about the need to service and the cost from DAMPCO. No reply ever. The company has refused to answer questions and has clearly not shown interest or consideration of customers or aftercare of their products. This is a company which, once it has your cash, you may as well forget about. Damp proofing is a long term and expensive piece of work to undertake so do not take any risks.

I'm not someone who is into their DIY however I have been in this store a couple of times with my dad. The staff working here are excellent with their customer service and you can definitely have a conversation with them about anything. I did find some of the items here on the expensive side such as decorative paints. But the products here are worth the money. Whenever me and my dad have been here and brought items, we have never been disappointed. Staff have years of experience in this industry and if you do need help, they will be there. There are pricey products at Mica but it is worth coming here if you are local and are looking for DIY and Hardware tools.
