What a fantastic & fascinating place. My wife, 4 year old son & I visited on an overcast day and…read morereally enjoyed the outside areas. The indoor exhibits did not hold our son's attention for long enough for us to enjoy but they seemed very informative. There is a children's adventure playground complete with diggers and "assault course". We walked around the water wheels and followed the process of the mining around which our son loved. We also walked up to the pit where we saw the modern operation underway - well worth the effort. The only disappoinment was the food which was a little on the expensive side and typical of the museum quality & standard. My advice is take a pinic as there are lots of benches in the adventure playground. BTW, if you gift aid the entry you can get a pass valid for re-entry for the year.

The Wheal Martyn China Clay Museum is relatively small scale attraction which gives an insight into…read morethe life of china clay workers in Cornwall from the past. Wheal Martyn is around 10 miles from the Eden Project but much less crowded. There is a main building which shows how the China clay was extracted and the techniques used. You can even have a go at producing a clay pot on a spinning wheel! There are also several woodland walks here, including one which goes through a tunnel under a hill and comes out at the edge of a large China clay pit. The museum is quite interesting although there is not enough to stay here for the full day so I would recommend only spending an afternoon here. This isn't the most fun attraction to go to in Cornwall, but if you want to learn about the history of Cornwall I recommend this to you.

It has some information about witch trials, curses, old wives tales, herbal healing, and things like that. I really had no idea what I might find, but I heard so many intriguing things that I had to check it out. It's good that a place like this exists, but I think it just scratches the surface and appeals to the curious drive bys rather than people who are into witchcraft and magic. That said, they have an altar there that has some really great energy in it. Check that out if you are in the area.
