We asked to have 2 rings resized - an engagement ring and a family heirloom ring. Were informed that it would take 2 weeks. Received message that rings were ready 3 weeks later. Unfortunately, neither was done properly. Overall, had to send the heirloom ring out twice to the jeweler (not sized properly) and the engagement ring out a total of 4 times (not sized properly each time and had chips and brush marks in the metal on the band). Yan was argumentative whenever we expressed our concerns and repeatedly told us that the jewelers she was working with had 40 years of experience each. read more

As the daughter of a talented jewelry designer, it is easy for me to recognize quality work, and this store is full of beautifully arranged, well-made pieces. A beautifully layed-out jewelry store with museum-like display cases peppering the floor, and colorful art upon the walls. I spoke with the owner and she told me that her idea for the store formed organically. She didn't know exactly what she wanted to do, and she ended up with an exquisite jewelry store & gallery showcasing local and international artists. I purchased an awesome set of earrings for my mother that were designed and created in Italy by a designer named Alberto Luzzi. The stuff in here isn't especially cheap, but it isn't over the top either. To sum it up, I found that she had a very expansive collection of jewelry that would be sure to suit the taste of any woman in your life. She also carrys jade bangles, jade rings, and wooden rings for reasonable prices in boxes at the register. First contacted the store through email about jade bangles. It is so hard to find REAL quality jade in the bay area. I had been looking for a place that could help me with sizing and really finding a good fit. After a few email conversations I decided to go in. As soon as I walked in I felt welcome by the gentleman. I had my son with me and they offered us chairs and made us feel at home. After about an hour looking and trying on different jade bangles, with their help I settled on the perfect one. They advised me that if for some reason I changed my mind that they would work with me (of course within a reasonable time frame) in order to find my 'perfect' jade bangle. I absolutely love this jewelry store. A lot of their art and jewelry is locally made, and most of the work is handmade. My mom bought a beautiful pair of druzy earrings here, and bought me a beautiful ring. I recently also approached one of the owners (Yan) with a difficult task: to melt down my grandmother's wedding band and engagement rings and recast them into my wedding band. She worked with a local artist- and they did it!! My ring turned out absolutely gorgeous, I am so happy to wear this ring and know that I am wearing the original metal and diamonds from my grandmother. Terrible. Awful. Lacking any sort of customer service. I am recently engaged and came to meet my fiance and look at rings to choose one together. The owner barked at me outside not once but twice yelling at me in a nasty tone, "What are you looking for?" "Ya! This is my shop!" I replied, " You didn't need to yell at me." Super confused and insulted I walked in and then a woman inside goes on to tell me "He's from New York." As if to excuse his harassing remarks. I took my engagement ring here to have it finished--antique stone set and sized. I talked with Steve for awhile both on the phone and in person. I told him I would be going away for a couple of weeks on business and that I wanted a family member to pick up my ring once it was complete. Steve stated it had to be sent out to "his guy" and it would be ready in a couple of days. When my family member picked it up she sent me photos and I immediately noticed some of the larger diamonds missing from the halo setting. Steve told me they can't be held responsible as I trusted a third party to pick up my ring. I ended up paying for the replacement stones, somewhere around $100, since I needed to get engaged at the time. I would not trust this store or their partners/jewelers to do work for me, and therefore I would not recommend. I definitely feel like they took advantage of my situation. read more

My partner and I had been to several jewelry stores in search of a pair of commitment bands and our search ended with Lireille. Yan was so kind, helpful and attentive. We found a pair of rings that we liked and she offered to contact the artist directly to meet with us and customize our rings. So, a week later, we met with the artist (Monica Schmid), explained what we wanted and Monica agreed to make our commitment bands. Yan coordinated a second meeting with Monica to do a fitting and we picked up our commitment bands a couple weeks later. Now we have an absolutely beautiful pair of commitment bands custom made for us. All of the jewelry in the gallery is absolutely beautiful and my partner has since purchased another piece that she loves. Every time we stop by it is hard not to leave with something new. I had a great experience with Steve/Steven the first time I brought a necklace in a while ago to get repaired. He was patient and friendly and helped me fix my necklace on site and didn't charge me much. But this second/most recent experience has soured me on this place. When another/different necklace broke, I immediately knew I wanted to bring it back to Lireille. This time was totally different. I brought in my necklace and Steve again helped me. He said it had to be soldered somewhere in SF, but he would bring it in to the city for me. I told him I was leaving on a trip in a few days and he said he'd have the necklace back before then "for sure" and would "call me when it was ready". The day before my trip, when he said that it would be ready, I still hadn't received a call, so I called the store. I spoke to Yan and she was very apologetic and tried to get a hold of Steve for me, but couldn't. She apologized on behalf of Steve. I ended up going on my trip without my necklace. I came back and got the necklace and Steve was not there, but Yan was there. She was helpful and was very nice. The necklace was "fixed" in that the part that needed to be soldered was soldered, but the jump ring on the other side, the non-damaged side, was now a copper color. This is a silver necklace and I know the jump ring was definitely not copper-colored when I dropped off the necklace. Yan tried to get a hold of Steve to figure out if he changed the ring or something, but couldn't get a hold of him. He called me last night and left a voicemail message and said that the jump ring is very inexpensive, etc. etc. but didn't actually explain why the jump ring was copper now. And never apologized for not getting my necklace back to me in time in the first place. And never apologized or acknowledged that he never called me to tell me that the necklace would not be back in time for my trip, like he had promised. I called his cell back this morning and got a voicemail, so I called the store. I spoke to Yan and she said Steve was out but would be back and would call me back in about an hour. I'm still waiting for a call, hours later. And I highly doubt I'll ever actually get a call back from him. I'm sad that this 2nd experience was so bad. I thought I had found a local store that I could support long-term, and thought I had found a place to take all of my jewelry for repairs if necessary. But this recent experience has definitely turned me off from Lireille and I will not be returning. Yan is really great. It's too bad I have to take away so many stars for the store because Steve was horrible to work with this time around. Steve's customer service skills leave a lot to be desired. And I guess I'll never know why my necklace now has a copper jump ring on it. It makes my otherwise nice silver necklace look totally chintzy and cheap. It would've been very simple for Steve to a) get my necklace back to me when he said he would, or b) call me to tell me it would take longer. And on top of that, if he damaged the jump ring and changed it out for me, or if the soldering people damaged it and had to change it out, or damaged it and made the ring turn copper, I would've understood. I don't think it's too much to ask that you get your stuff back when promised, or at least updates about the status, and that if your property is changed or damaged, you at least get an explanation of why. read more

This store isn't a very courteous neighbor in the community. I think it's great that they have a lot of events and show art in the store in addition to selling jewelry. The art I saw that was up recently was quite nice. What I dislike is that they have been drumming out front of the store on Piedmont Avenue for hours on end approximately once a week at least, and for those of us who live nearby, this is a major nuisance. Closing all our windows, even in this summer heat, doesn't keep out the lound sound and reverbaration of the drumming. After hearing hours of the drumming recently, from about 5 or 6 pm till about 10 pm nonstop, I did let the owner know that the drumming could be heard in our and our neighbors' apartments and that it was really disruptive, especially after so many hours on end. Yet the drumming continues and actually is going on right now disrupting what would otherwise be a restful and quiet evening and dinner at home. I wonder how the owner would like it if someone drummed on the sidewalk outside his home for hours on end. I think if they really have to drum, they should do the drumming inside their own store and not on the street where it reverbates to those of us who have the misfortune of having this store Lirielle as a neighbor. read more

Had such a good experience with this jewelry store. We were looking for just the right necklace for our mom. While there were many beautiful and original pieces on display, nothing was exactly right. Yan showed us some images and basically helped us choose different design elements to create the perfect necklace: white gold chain with a small diamond and a larger garnet. Lireille is fantastic! They have an amazing selection of beautiful pieces, most created by local Bay Area artists. I purchased a set of rings from them a few years ago and the service was great. I fact I was ogling another ring in the window today, and the owner came out to say "hello" and even remembered me by name!
