They had a great selection . I came from out of town and was very pleased with the service and the selection

Overpriced, overhyped, arrogant and entitled management. Customers do not matter unless you already spend $$$ with them. If you are looking for for a place that treats customers fairly. DONT GO HERE. They will tell you to shove it if you are not their most loyal of loyal customers first. If you go in looking for something that they have hidden in the back/under the counter (literally) or something less available, they will tell you that you do not matter unless you buy very regularly. Then MAYBE, they and ownership will let you overpay for a bottle. They charge $10-$30 more for bottles than other retailers and do not care. They will claim to be charging MSRP, but a bottle of Rare Breed would not be nearly $60-$70. This place is great to look at stuff, but you have to buy a bundle just for you to get an allocated item. over $300. Go buy somewhere else and have a better customer service experience. This place would not know a customer first mentality if it was sitting in front of them. You do not gain new customers by devaluing them. You also do not help the business when you make customer feel like they do not matter, talk down to them and treat them like trash. I look forward to making my buys from stores that care about gaining new customers the right way and not treating people new to the area like they are less than. PLEASE, shop somewhere else for a better experience. To Ownership: If your management team at the store hate customers so much and complain about people coming in looking for something specific (that you have, but refuse to sell them), only to tell us to basically F off, then they need to be in a different business or not working with customers. SHAME ON THEM AND YOU, the owners for allowing this type of toxic customer service in your store. If and when "ownership" responds to people who do review it is almost always (except 1x) on 5 star reviews. Almost never addresses their terrible customer service issues and poor managements treatment of customers. read more

Take caution when ordering from this company. I ordered two cases of the Simply Spiked Limeade variety pack, specifically because it was advertised as a 4-flavor variety pack and the stores in my area have stopped carrying it. My order arrived yesterday, and I was sent a completely different variety pack than the one I ordered. I contacted customer service, and their response was that their website states under every product: "Availability may vary. Images are for reference only. Design may vary." I understand that packaging or the appearance of a product can change. However, this goes far beyond a packaging or design variation. The product description clearly states that the item contains a variety of four flavors, and the photos and description indicate the specific product being purchased. What I received was a different variety pack altogether. It is extremely disappointing to advertise a specific product as available, accept an order and payment for that product, and then send a completely different item without notifying the customer. If the product I ordered was no longer available, I should have been contacted and given the opportunity to cancel the order or choose whether I wanted a substitute. Instead, a different product was sent without my consent. In my opinion, this is misleading and leaves customers feeling as though the product they purchased was not actually what the company intended to fulfill. Customers should be able to reasonably expect to receive the product that is advertised and ordered--not a completely different product. Yes, they offered for me to return the product as long a pay $20 for shipping! Absolutely ridiculous! read more

Absolutely rude gentleman behind the "customer service "desk. Was not helpful. Thought I had ordered full bottles of champagne. They were half bottles at an extremely high price. Definitely not a deal. Please research! Binnys service is far superior. Binny's staff is very happy and helpful! Avoid liquor barn in Vernon Hills!!! read more

Customer service is awful. Placed an order for 4 bottles as the website indicated they had it in stock. Paid for Fed Ex shipping. Waited 3 days and no shipping information.Sent emails only to find out that they only had 3 bottles so they refunded me for the fourth. Told me it would ship that day. A few days go by and the order just sits there. Sent numerous emails to try to cancel the order only to be told that since it shipped I could only refuse delivery. Long story short is now I have to wait still another few days for get this order from Fed Ex to refuse. I will be contacting American Express to dispute the charges. Stay away from this business. Shame on me for not reading previous reviews. read more

I went to this Liquor Barn to get a gift of Bourbon Whiskey or Scotch and found just the right thing I wanted and that too at a reasonable price. I didn't scoops out the whole shop but of the couple of aisles I browsed through to find what I was looking for, I was happy with their selections. The customer service was fine. read more

They screwed up an order and then refused to make their screw up right without inconveniencing me and to boot then refused to even guarantee they would send the correct item after I returned the bottle they sent me instead of what I ordered. That or a $10 credit ensuring they get further sales for piss poor performance. When I said neither of those was really an acceptable resolution they pretty much told me to pound sand. I'd avoid, and will, like the plague. read more

Be careful buying liquor from the store. Purchased to cases of Black label 1.75L and when opened the second case month a half later, found 5 bottles instead of 6. Spoke with the store manager Kyle, and he acted as normal and gave ridiculous excuses. Not sure who is stealing whether store employees or their supplier but Manager's attitude suggested something is fishy how they are managing. I did not even ask for refund or replacement etc and just called to inform and let them acknowledge that they will look into it but he acted in a way that oh its normal and we can't do anything about it. read more

Never trust a place called "____ barn." Even when something shows as available online in a store, they don't have it. You get there and they say, "sorry, online only" even after you make the trek. read more

Customer service staff in store is horrible. (although online is better) I've been there numerous times and I've also ordered multiple times online. Went to the store today and had a question at the service desk. There were three employees working and I was completely ignored. After waiting about five minutes to be acknowledged, I asked if I was invisible. One person reluctantly looked up from his phone. The other guy was walking around the store on his phone. The third employee, the cashier just stared blankly. And this isn't the first time. Each time where I've had to ask a question at the front desk, it's like I'm a bother by being there. And when I in store, or pick up an order online, the cashier just stares blankly, doesn't interact, and is completely unfriendly. It's like they're doing you a favor by answering a question or checking you out. I've only continued to go there because sometimes they have some good bottles, or good sales, but not worth it to have to deal with the rude and unfriendly employees. I'm done with this store. read more

I had a bottle of Weller Special Reserve in my cart that I was waiting to buy until I knew when I'd be able to pick up. I received an email Saturday that they were offering it on sale at $35.99 that day only. Within less than a minute of getting the email, I went to my cart and the discount was not showing. I tried for a couple of days then reached out to them. They said that supposedly every bottle at that "limited price" had sold out within seconds of the email being sent. That must be a world record for response rate since they were gone in less than the 30-45 seconds it took me to open the link from said email. read more

Ordered a ECBP A117 and they sent me a C924. What I got was nowhere near what I ordered and paid for. I've been a repeat customer, however, that goes both ways. I'm a former customer now. read more

MAIL ORDER: Ordered some difficult-to-find expensive rums but they shorted me one bottle. They didn't notify me nor refund me. I contacted them after I realized the one bottle was missing but had to jump through several hoops and checklists and send 5 photos of everything only for them to realize they were short on stock and the packer didn't properly alter my order and refund me for the missing bottle. Look, I already have a mile-long list of chores consuming my life. Why do I have to waste my precious little spare time chasing down these people and compensating for their incompetence? Every other store I've ordered from has altered my order and refunded me without any intervention on my part. Their job is to fulfill orders properly and they can't even do that. read more

The manager at this location is one of the rudest employees I have ever encountered. Dude needs some serious anger management. He berates and yells at his customers if they ask a question he doesn't like. Never seen anything like it before. Still in shock at crazy, unwarranted scene he made today when a customer asked for a bottle that was behind the counter. That's none of your business, don't look at my shelves behind the counter, you should have come in yesterday if you really wanted this particular bottle- etc and so on. Felt bad for the cashier who was trying to help me. They rarely have anything here you can't get at Binnys a half a mile down on the street by the Hawthorne mall. You have been warned. Take your business elsewhere since this manager is a complete a**hole. read more

The manger that works there is very rude an talks very entitled. He tried to tell me what another location stock may have and he was completely false because I called... my mom was coming to spend money in the store and I told her I refuse to spend money and the. He rolls his eyes after I leave the store.. I personally feel like he didn't want to service wants read more

While they have a good selection, I've been quite displeased with my online ordering experience twice in a row now, as well as rude customer service. My most recent order was for my brother's 40th birthday party. Their off-brand delivery service, Spee-dee only shows one attempted delivery in tracking (when everyone was home). They returned the order to the store. Not only did my brother did not get his big birthday gift, their customer service by e-mail and phone was both quite rude and quite unhelpful. I was told that surely the delivery service had attempted to deliver twice. After the first missed delivery my brother and his wife sat at home the entire next day and nothing. The customer service agent wouldn't even pull up the tracking number. I was ultimately told I could pay again for shipping (after missing the birthday) or get a refund minus shipping. The previous order was plagued with a long back and forth where the stock on the website seemed to have nothing to do with what they actually had. I'd highly recommend avoiding this business. Bad customer service and an off-brand delivery partner made for my gift not arriving for my brother's birthday. read more

Stopped by for the first time today in order to restock and was extremely impressed at the size of the store, the cleanliness and the selection. They have a wide variety of wines, beers, hard liquors and seltzers, chilled or on the shelf. For any questions and suggestions on drinks, or if you don't find the specific beverage that you are looking for, the staff is very friendly and always open to helping. Just ask! Prices are also very competitive and their frequent sales lead to unheard of prices. I found all the drinks that I want plus some more that I am excited to try. Those drinks are: - high noon tropical variety pack - lulz smoothie - untitled art - rekorderlig TLDR; the seltzer selection is top notch. Very excited to try the smoothies. read more

MAIL-ORDER REVIEW: They've a lot of hard to find items, the prices are fair. It took two weeks to ship, after ten days they notified me of an out of stock item, which was then satisfactorily subbed. The delivery itself took one day. The packing was excellent, I imagine they get no broken bottles, but I still recommend the shipping insurance. Also, I ordered a lambic gift set with a glass, but they sent the regular item, both are the same price; acceptable but unusual. I deducted one star for the wait and the missing gift item. If you've a problem with an order, I suggest you politely and proactively contact them via chat, phone, and email then have a little patience as they're slow to respond. I'll order from them again and will update this review if it's a negative experience. read more

If you are a Bourbon drinker you NEED to try this place!!! Love the selections and they recently opened a new tasting bar where you can try some great bourbons for a reasonable price! I've been a fan of liquor barn for years but they really outdid themselves with this new store! It is larger and nicer than any store I've been at, much better than binnys. They have every drink I could think of here at great prices. Came in looking for kosher wine and they were able to help me right away find a bunch of options. I will definitely be back! read more

The manager at this store was rude as he explained a rule on sales of a popular Bourbon. The sign did not specify 1 per "household" and he insisted that the customer was wrong!!! There are more positive ways to explain a situation to a paying customer. read more

Wow! Really an amazing find, visited family in Vernon Hills last weekend. Made a post on Facebook to point me in the right direction of finding few dessert wines, rum and bourbon. All recommendations pointed to the liquor barn and wow, I feel like I went through a toys r us if of wine and liquors. Found few bottles that I've never seen state side but what really blew me away was the customer service. Everyone was super friendly and eager to tell the story about every brand / distillery... very cool. We need stores like this in Miami read more

Maybe not totally fair, the store is recently opened and stocking might be a little rough, due to transportation issues because of the pandemic. That being said, no where the amount of shelf stock at Binny's. read more

A gentleman by the name of Kyle helped me with my selection. He was extremely knowledgeable about what I was in the market for. He also encouraged me to try a bottle of bourbon which I really am not a big fan of. I'm saving it for Mother's Day. Aviod! No masks required here. I stopped here for a quick trip in & out. As there was no-one else there, that was no problem. But I noticed the cashier was not wearing a mask. I paid & left quick then called them & asked the manager why they were not wearing masks? He said they don't have to, It's not the law. Then, He HUNG UP ON ME!!! Very professional! I checked with Vernon Hills Police, It IS an Illinois mandate. meaning temporary law. ENTER AT YOUR OWM RISK! Never going Back! read more

BUYER BEWARE!!! I made an online order and six days later had not had any updates on when my order was being delivered. After repeated attempts to get in touch with someone and leaving a message, I contacted PayPal and started a resolution enquiry. All of a sudden I get a phone call saying that they were waiting on more stock. THEY THEN TOLD ME THAT THEY WOULD NOT SHIP MY ORDER UNTIL I WITHDREW THE ENQUIRY. BLACKMAIL.... REALLY???? I shouldn't have had to have PayPal try to find out what was going on with my order. So, I called Paypal back and told them what had been said. I got the refund and Liquor Barn lost the sale. This is a welcome site as Vernon Hills has been without a "liquor store" in decades. A very nice selection of wine and spirits at a competitive price. Lots of help and the crew seems like they are getting use to their nice store. Experience counts so I won't judge them during their learning period though I would say they are trying and they are getting better as they expand into our area. read more
