I visited the Liquor Barn for the first time on April 17 2025. When I entered the store no one was in the front to help me. I walked around the store and asked multiple people if they worked there. Finally a customer pointed to a man and said he is the manager. He was in the middle of a conversation when I entered the store. He never acknowledged me or even greeted me. After a few minutes of looking for what I wanted I interrupted the conversation politely and asked where my items would be. He answered my question and I went to look for three Pina Colada Buzz Balls. When I arrived home and opened one of the Buzz Balls and poured it out the liquid was yellow liquid instead of white. I decided to check the other two. One more was expired and poured out yellow liquid as well. Only one out of the three drinks were able to be consumed. I called the Liquor Barn and explained what had happened. Whoever answered the phone told me to bring in the open can so he could see for himself. I told him I could be pulled over for an open liquor can in my car. He then told me to pour it in a different container and come in. I was very upset. I spend money and they do not seem to care that their products are expired. I know it seems weird for someone to call and inform the store but I spent my money there. So my experience was not good I will never shop there again. read more

I pass by this place routinely and dropped in today just to see what this business is like and compare it to the quite nice Liquor Barn in Wheeling as well as to any Binny's. I wasn't impressed and though it's a lot closer to me than Wheeling, I'll never return. Staff is not friendly nor acknowledging, and never said a word nor acknowledged my presence in the store, unlike most any other liquor store I have been in. Staffers were busy chatting amongst themselves, and with others, maybe customers, who sounded like regulars. The other issue with this store is that it has zero curb appeal, and one wonders if it's even open. There's no name on the entrance to their plainish warehouse style building, just a sign facing busy Golf Road. I did check that they have a couple of my standard bearers - Three Floyds' Gumballhead beer and Beluga Russian vodka. They did have both and they are priced the same as other stores. I didn't buy anything. The store is also not that big and it overall looks and feels to me like they cater to a lower end crowd. First of all, what kind of liquor store closes at 7 pm on Sunday nights?? I tried to see if the Niles area has some kind of specific rules on liquor sales like Evanston does (did?), but couldn't find anything about it online. I see their hours here and that they close at 10 pm EVERY OTHER F#(*in night. WTF. I am an Uber driver and walked in at 6:56 on a Sunday night (tonight). I was not getting any rides out there and wanted to pick up something sweet and tart to drink after I finished my shift. I didn't look at their hours when I walked in. Right when I walked in, they shut down a lot of lights (including the ones for the beer coolers). At that time, I was browsing the tequila just for fun but quickly realized they were closing then and said, "I'll only be a minute!" and rushed over to the craft beer area. I overheard the staff say something that seemed to be making fun of me (I could be wrong though, of course), but I swear I heard them repeat the phrase I said in a mocking way. I could be wrong about the tone, though, of course. It happened so fast. Could've been the customer checking out and possibly not mean-spirited. Not gonna go to court about it but I am sure I heard a derivative of what I said. So there was a dude checking out and 3 staff standing around with quite obvious ants in their pants to leave. I GET IT. I have definitely been there. BUT...chilltfo. jesus h christ. I didn't realize when I walked in that you close in 4 minutes. Anyway, I absolutely DID NOT wanna be the last one to leave so I high-tailed it outta there and muttered, "I'll go somewhere else" to the dude that HAD TO UNLOCK THE DOOR FOR ME TO GET OUT (don't want anymore LATE SHOPPERS GETTING IN GOD DAMMIT), got to my car and GTFOed. My clock registered 6:58 when I started my car. The staff were all out the door with the lights off and leaving at 6:59. I will say I'll never be frequenting them again when Walmart just down the road ABSOLUTELY wins in this dept. I may be exploiting employees by my purchases (which I don't want to do) but at least they stay true to their promised operating hours. read more

This store has large selection of hard liquors but I went for Everclear Grain alcohol which I use as a hand sanitizer. The clerk was extremely helpful in helping me locate this product amidst their huge selection of bottles of alcohol based beverages. Checking out was quick and easy. There's a huge selection of liquors and beers, mostly from Eastern Europe, where most of their clientele and some of their staff is from. The sword shaped bottles of cognac were interesting but aside from that their whiskey, particularly their bourbon selection was just okay. Beerwise they do have a lot of Heineken and other standards stocked up and a decent amount of smaller craft beers with a large part of their floor devoted to a lot of Polish and Czech beers. Service wise, I don't think I was noticed at all. I walked in, made my way around, took a pictures, doubled back, took more pictures and then I ended up in the back near, what I think was the storeroom. This place is big and has decent prices and selections. Unfortunately I was looking for some craft beers but couldn't find them but that's not to say they don't have enough good ones. Their wine selection is vast and the brands are great. There's enough options for those with or without a budget. Lost a star because I had to wait a few minutes for cashier to finish personal conversation before helping me out. What a great place to find pretty much whatever you're looking for. It seems a little run down and the prices aren't really great, but the selection is where they get kudos and extra points. When I found this liquor store online and they displayed a picture of the exact bottle I was looking for, I was very excited. I immediately placed the order and anxiously anticipated its arrival. Well, that's when tremendous disappointment set in. I actually received a completely different pattern on the bottle than what I had ordered!! When I called their "customer service" it was anything less than. They told me I could return it, but I would be responsible for shipping costs. Seriously, what kind of service is that???? I have shopped here a enough times given that my parents are about 1.5 miles away. And this review is only regarding my most recent experience, near the end of September 2012. So I like my beers and whiskeys, which means that I really like Goose Island's Bourbon county stout. So I called up all the Binny's and they were sold out. Then I called Liquor Barn. The lady on the phone states that they have some and are limiting it to a 4-pack per customer. I said that is fine and asked her to put some aside for me as I will be there in 15 minutes. Once I get there, some surly man (possibly the manager) told me that I must spend a minimum of $30 on other products in the store for the 'right' to buy this other beer from him. I look around, they don't have a good selection of some of my other Goose Island favorites. I figured if I am forced to buy something, it should be from the people who are making the beer I want. After that failed, I looked through the whiskey selection and was feeling like some rye. The rye selection was sad, only two bottles and neither good. I asked if they have any Sazerac in stock to which they said nope you need to go to Wisconsin for (which is false). I ended up going for a burbon by Buffalo Trace distillery (the makers of Sazerac). Then the lady at the counter asks the guy if this is enough or do I need to buy more to be able to buy my beer. Thankfully it was enough and I got my beer. NEVER AGAIN read more

I wouldn't go so far as to say, "If you dreamt it, they have it," but this is pretty much as good as it gets. Binny's, please sit down. Unfortunately, you have to drive all the way to Golf and Milwaukee to reach this alcohol haven, but inside you will find the cheapest of the cheap to $1000 bottles of liquor locked up in the cabinet. I remember seeing special flasks of Richard Hennessey Cognac engraved and glass longswords of some dark liquor. Yep, I've gone far and wide in my search for Porteris, a Latvian beer and they had that in high supply. They have hundreds if not thousands of selections of beer and most can be bought by the bottle if you so choose. Nothing more fun than picking five chocolate beers and taking a day to sample them all. Need liquor in quantity? Oh why not!? You can't go wrong buying a handle of Skyy Vodka for $20. This place will knock your socks off and send you to the Nth degree of drinking Nirvana. read more

So I think I've found my new hangout... One of my students told me they had Vranac wine here, so I took a little trip over to see what I could find. This might be the second biggest liquor store I've ever been to. I know it's not the largest, but it's rather massive and they carry some pretty obscure stuff. Prices are the best I've found so far, as well. I think the wines I looked at were a few dollars less than other places. My only complaint is that I seemed to know more about pretty familiar brands of alcohol (shut up...) than the floor guy. Even the man who seemed like he was the owner, or at least higher up on the staff ladder had no idea what Rumple Mintze was and it took us both 5 minutes to find it among the rows and rows of schnapps and vodka. Their store hours, rushed over here to buy a bottle of Ciroc only to be told to hurry and find everything I needed because they're closing in 10 minutes (it was only 9:50pm!) Wow - impressive beer selection at good prices. I stopped in to get a Stroh's 30-pack for my Dad (an inside joke we have) and became engrossed in the international beer selection, impulse buying a number of single bottles. I was worried that a green bottle of Lithuanian beer I bought would taste skunky (brown bottles are used to prevent light contamination from skunking beers) but it had been properly shipped and stored. Their wine selection was also quite good, but it is tough to compete with Binny's - both in their selection and expertise of their staff. You might be able to find a better price on your favorite vintage here but don't expect much if you ask the staff for recommended pairings. I haven't specifically shopped for liquor here so I can't comment on the variety or pricing. Update: Went back here for some liquor and raised my rating to 5 stars. Staggering variety including a case of single-malt scotches that ranged from $200 to $700 a bottle (also a $12,000 bottle of cognac). I'm no stranger to drinking but was overwhelmed - bottle after bottle of unknown brands, styles and flavors. I felt like I needed to take notes, go home, do some research, and then come back to get the supplies to make the Greatest Cocktail the World Has Ever Known. I'll let you know if that works out. For the time being, I was content with 2 parts Patron tequila, 1 part Grand Marnier and 1 part Triple Sec (with a muddled lime). Marga-licious. read more

Wish I could give 5 stars. The place is so full of choices you have to watch where you walk. You can find things here you might not find in "biggy's". The people working are knowledgeable if not particularly outgoing, but that's just style. I'm taking off a star for one thing only. Why put a "No Concealed Carry guns" sign on the door? What a nice place in an out-of-the-way location, right next to the Glenview/Niles high tension wires and power station! It kinda sits alone all by itself, so you could miss it. Beware of their beer specials. The last time I visited Liquor Barn they had a 12 pack of Anchor Steam on sale for $9. The beer tasted flat and skunky, and upon looking up the code on the bottle I found out that the beer they had sold me was 15 months old. Today, I bought a couple of their 4 packs of 500ml Pilsner Urquell cans for $4. I checked the expiration date and although it wasn't too old, the beer is still totally skunked. If the price is too good to be true at Liquor Barn, you're probably buying nasty, undrinkable beer. read more

I recently purchased a Groupon for this place. I had never been there before. The Groupon stated it was a $40 value. $10 for $20 worth of liquor and a $20 value of assorted bottles of liquor. They are totally misleading people. The assorted bottles are nothing but obscure junk liquor that isn't even worth a couple of dollars much less the $20 they claim it to be. Well there aren't any chickens or horses in this barn, but you will find some Red Dogs and Mooseheads (funny!) They weren't kidding, this place is as big as a barn and has a wide selection of beer and alcohol. They have brew from foreign countries and great prices especially on cases of beer. Look for the huge black and yellow sign and you won't be sorry if you get liquored up at the Liquor Barn! Overall: selection is VERY good and one of the few suburb liquor stores with such great variety. While Liquor Barn advertises affordable prices, I find that there are not that many great deals. Surely, you save "some" money than your average corner liquor shop (plus, the lower taxes versus Chicago), but I am surely NOT impressed enough to ever make a second-visit. The service seems friendly enough, though the cashier tried to hurry me up as if I was doing her a disservice by buying their products. Luckily this does not change the flavor of the beer. :-) If you live by Liqour Barn, then it is the place the go. Otherwise, try Binny's or stick to your favorite place to buy. read more
