Ummm, well I'm on holidays and it just so happened to be from one of the tattoo artists on my 'to visit' list so I snapped that bad boy up. Walking into Good Luck Tattoo you are hit with a visual overload. Every inch of wall is taken up with framed flash sheets from residence artists or guest artists who have clearly enjoyed their time at the shop. Like all well presented and well stocked (with highly skilled artists) shops there is a steady flow of clients coming in and out of the door, and it seems like the majority of the appointments actually occur ON TIME! Woah! To assist with drowning out the bzzzz bzzz bzzz of that tattoo gun, there is a huge variety of tunes and a lot of shop banter - it's clear that these guys enjoy working with each other. The average hourly rate is $150 p/hr which is totally reasonable for such high quality work. Would defo recommendo!

It is well placed, just past all the East Brunswick Restaurant area, and the tram stops right outside their door. There is plenty of great art on the walls to distract you during the process itself. It is cash only, so make sure you know how much you're potentially going to spend and bring the dollars accordingly.

The studio is private, quiet and comfortable, with two separate piercing rooms. Most importantly, you'll be pleased to learn that they strictly follow the health laws around piercing which is reassuring when you're getting your bits poked and prodded! If you're game, they also offer scarification and tattooing services too. My piercers have been gentle, friendly, professional and patient - making the experience as comfortable as possible. There are a handful of studios in Melbourne that slot into the upper echelon of work, apparently Third Eye is in the ball park of Tattoo Magic and Chapel Tattoo. They encourage walk ins at Third Eye and this, these days, is a rarity. Their rates are highish and they do charge for drawing of custom work, but just go in and check out the quality and you'll see why it's a bit pricey. They have great gender balance here so there's none of that macho attitude you'll get at the biker shops. Plus, girls tend to have a bit of a lighter touch with the needle, so it doesn't hurt so bad. The shop is immaculate and the folk are super friendly. It's the kind of place you really want if you're a newbie to the world of tatt's. It's the kind of place you'd take your grandma.
