    Shoe Repair, Key Repair

So my new UK boots broke after I fell down the stairs. It's only a month old, so I'm not planning to throw it out. What to do... shoe repair! I Googled for shoe repair in Flushing, but the only thing I got was Kim's Shoe Repair. When I got there, it was closed. So I started wandering into other random Chinese mini-malls and I found a sign that's labeled in English "Shoe Repair" right underneath "Key Repair". I went up to Mr. Lin, who was talk in Korean at another customer. I asked if he spoke Cantonese. Nope. English? Nope. Mandarin or Korean. Okay. Let's go with crappy Mandarin and a lot of hand gestures. I showed him my broken heel. He told me that since the heel is hollowed, he'll have cut off the heel and put in a new one, and for the other boot too to match. I didn't want to cut of the other unproblematic boot, but he said that it would be uneven otherwise. He even showed me the material that he was going to use for the new heel. He asked me how much I paid for, and quoted $30 for the repair and told me to come back tomorrow to pick it up. I went back the next day and the shoes... didn't look bad at all. There was a scuff on the back of one of the shoe, but I wasn't sure if I did it in the fall or he did it while repairing. In the end, my boots are repaired! The things you find wandering in tiny Chinese malls.....

He did not fix my shoe and refused to provide a refund! Scammer!

This was the worst experience I had trying to repair my shoes! I gave the owner my shoe to repair because it was dented inwards. He accepted my $10 and gave it back to me. At first it seemed fine because he just placed glue on the bottom. But after wearing it for 2 minutes, it started cracking on the inside. I went back to him for him to either fix it or give me a refund. He refused to do both and said that "you young people don't get it, it can't be fixed. You are unreasonable." I feel that he is the unreasonable one that scammed my money. Why would you take my money when you couldn't fix it and just placed glue on the bottom of an empty sole. Then refuse to provide a refund or re-fix on a shoe. That's not the right way to do business.

Very courteous man. He fixed my partner's shoes while we waited. It helps if you speak Korean.

He initially quoted me Friday and then changed it to Saturday due to the holiday. I showed up and panicked when I didn't see my shoes. I handed him the ticket and then he started looking and apologized and said he wasn't able to get to it but asked if I could come back in two hours. I said no, because when I dropped them off Wednesday, I specifically told him I was leaving Sunday. Additionally, I'm going to the game today that starts at 4 (he closes at 6) and I'm leaving tomorrow. If you can't fulfill the job, don't agree to do it. If I had agreed to let him do it and come back in a couple hours, I know it would have been a rush job and everything he would have done would have come undone.

Ultimately, I decided to give Gavriel's shop a try based on the positive reviews. I was pleasantly surprised by Gavriel's reasonable pricing and, more importantly, the quality of his work. If you ever find yourself in need of shoe repairs, this is definitely the place to go. Gavriel, the owner, is not only skilled at what he does but also incredibly friendly. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend his shop to anyone in need of shoe repairs. Finding the shop might be a bit tricky, so here's a tip: head inside the mall, go down one flight of stairs, and you'll find Gavriel's shop right there.

He is rude and just terrible with customers…read more I needed to fix the heels for a pair of my boots and I thought it would be an easy thing to get done in Flushing. I saw the sign for this place and went in. You need to speak Mandarin to get any service here, but honestly, don't even bother coming. The owner is a major asshole. He didn't seem to want to help me at all. I asked him if he could repair my heels and he said he couldn't get to it today and I would have to leave it for a few days. I then asked if they could be ready tomorrow and he said no. So then I asked if they could be ready by Thursday (Thanksgiving) and he said that is an American holiday and he didn't know if he would be open, and that his wife would make that decision. So basically, he couldn't tell me when the heels would be repaired. He didn't seem interested in helping at all. I told him there was a Mr. Lin down the street that could repair shoes within half an hour and he said, "well go there." This guy was rude, unhelpful and didn't seem like he cared to make any business. I advise not going here to get your shoes fixed, go to Lin's shoe repair and without the hassle.

So after waiting half an hour (not 15 minutes) he shows me that he has polished the tips of my boots.... like he DID ME A FAVOR, I didn't ask for it and realized that in different lighting the black ink used was different from my boot color. Yup still hate this place.
