This location is 5 starts for aesthetics alone--in a renovated Victorian-style home--every nook and…read morecranny is filled with vintage/antique/vintage-style chic vibes. Parking on the left side of the house/cafe, walking up the handicap-accessible ramp...the porch itself is a wonder to behold with at least three swings and a few small tables. Current food and drink offerings are posted on an old door propped against a corner by the entry. I was overwhelmed with the flavor combinations, delighted by the branding of the shop, and knew I'd be making a big purchase--not being local and rarely traveling through Hico, TX we had to sample what is on offer from savory to sweet! Hico, TX has a real treasure right here ya'll! Honey lavender latte (seasonal), ham and gruyere muffin, and molasses cookies won the day for me! My partner agreed that of the three items I purchased for him, if only permitted to order one item again, it would be the molasses cookie! Similar to my aunt and grandma's chewy molasses cookie recipe, I was instantly transported to nostalgialand - grandma's kitchen or a ramshackle old cottage we used to reunion at--surrounded by relatives. Every bite filling me with goodness, warmth, and love! This is a spot I would frequent were I local to Hico--proudly sharing this beauty and its offerings with guests and purchasing goodies for office/special gatherings. If you're traveling down the road like we were, looking for a nice local coffee and something warm and delicious to eat, look no further. This is a MUST STOP.

It's right next door to where the address on the Yelp Page will take you, but it is formerly the "Bakeshop." The staff mentioned to us the former building/house was being renovated to become an AirBnB or something. We were looking forward to patio seating given we had our pup with us, but the restaurant didn't have any, so we opted for drive-thru. The restaurant itself has a small parking lot. The woman who took our order was very kind and informative, as mentioned previously. I ordered an "Iced Latte with White Chocolate" and ordered the "Breakfast Burrito," which contained sausage, scrambled eggs, and cheese. The latte was good, creamy and sweet with the WC flavoring. The burrito was also good, not amazing, but good! I should have ordered 2 of them, it wasn't too big, so keep that in mind. The cheese was melted inside and the sausage was super flavorful. There was a section of my burrito in which the sausage was actually cold, which took me by surprise, but other than that it was good. Pricing was decent for what we ordered. We would come back if we were driving through again!!

My biggest regret, not pausing to document what was in front of me…read more Something in the air, in my spirit was calling me to this place. We passed through once before making the decision to pull over and spend a moment in Hico, TX. We were about to leave town to find a place for a late lunch when I looked up a place for coffee. Immediately, immediately I knew we had to check this place out. It was over 100 degrees. The structure was an opening in a stone building with big Spanish style gates and vines and greenery. There was a vintage style food truck situation. Beyond cute! But I'm not one to be fooled anymore by aesthetic hype anymore. I'm not doing this for Yelp notoriety. So my expectations were low. Next to the truck I found a girl making pizzas. So we ordered a pizza for the four of us and some dirty iced chai. Ten minutes later the order was ready. Let me tell you about the chai first: two thumbs up cant complain. Now on to the pizza. Listen I forced myself to wait days before reviewing. Do I still feel the same way days later? Sadly yes. I say sadly because NEVER in my life has anything come close to what I had. This place is two hours away, you don't understand how I long for more. I ordered The Special. We opened the box and literally I heard a choir sing and a beam of light shone on to the miss shapened pizza. If it's not round you know it's good! Visually it was melty and had the browned dough bubbles with all the toppings perfectly distributed. Topping distribution is far more important than the shape. You get all the flavors in every bite. I can't remember everything that went into it, but there was pepperoni, at least two kinds of cheeses - yes I could tell, y'all it had artichokes and sun dried tomatoes! Nothing was left behind. We all went in for seconds. I told myself to quietly leave don't make this weird. All I wanted to do was gush about this pizza. Obviously I give it all the stars I can. It's a must stop. Do not miss out. I will say this is a coffee place. They just make pizzas on the side. And I believe most of their orders are to go. We weren't planning on eating there. So when we changed our mind we asked for paper plates and they didn't have any. Maybe they'll have some next time. Luckily we had some in the car. So bring your plates if you plan on eating there. I wouldn't have it any other way. Nothing like eating it right out the oven.

I wish we had time to try their wood-fired pizza so I can't comment on it. I look forward to trying it on a future stop. The person working the coffee/pizza truck was very friendly. While there are a couple of tables with chairs, it's just a patio with a sunshield cover (which was hugely beneficial in the 100-degree summer heat. Would definitely recommend for a great coffee break!
