Trendy-Hip-stylish hotel in Nijmegen. Stairs, no elevator that I was made aware of…read more Parking on street or I believe there is a parking structure nearby. Nijmegen is a very busy city. Breakfast is included- and is elegant and rich- hard boiled eggs, meat/cheese tray, bowl of breads, and coffee/juice. Would prefer to have been given choices only not to waste such great food. I find after traveling for many days I sometimes want something plain for breakfast such as oatmeal, plain scrambled eggs or simple bowl of fruit. Room was large- 2 full size closets plenty of hangers, shelf space, robe provided. Fireplace which warmed things quickly. Nice Neopresso machine in room with glasses and beautiful selection of coffees- too bad there were no directions on how to use it- so I didn;t. Big cozy towels, comfortable beds. Plenty of outlets for charging all those electronics we travel with. Bathroom is modern- big tub in room- shower/toilet glass-sexy for traveling with your companion- not so much for family travels. Staff was extremely helpful- carrying bags-checking in, finding parking and in general very attentive to those staying at the Hotel. There is an excellent restaurant on site that is packed every night so be sure to let staff know if you want to eat there. Music from the restaurant does vibrate upper sleeping rooms- so that may be something to consider when booking. Unfortunately I did not have time to see if the location was walkable to shopping, other restaurants or area attractions. Nijmegen seems to have a vibrant city with a lot happening- the restaurant was packed both nights i stayed there. This is definitely a property to stay at when visiting this part of the Netherlands- Thanks to an excellent staff!!

I was in Nijmegen for work for the week and stayed in the Mercure Nijmegen Center Hotel. The main…read morething this hotel has going for it is the proximity to the train station (right next door) and downtown (10min walk away). Otherwise, there's likely better places to stay if you want quiet, comfort and relaxation One big tip I learned near the end of the stay- the rooms on the 1st floor (2nd floor up as the lobby is on the 0th floor) are much bigger and nicer than the remaining rooms in the hotel. The room itself is pretty small and has only the necessities you'd want in a room. The bed is only about a foot off the floor and comes with one thin sheet and one staticky comforter. The desk is tiny so if you want to put your laptop on it and have room for other stuff it's playing tetris. The worst part of the room is the bathroom. Wow is it tiny...I knew I was going to be in trouble when you can only creak the door open far enough to slide in sideways because the toilet is in the way to open the door 90 degrees or more. You also can't take 1 step in any direction without running into something. The tub/shower is only 2 feet wide with the base of the shower only 1 foot wide. I could not stand my feet together in the shower without them going up the sidewall, so you have to stand like a gymnast on a balance beam while in the shower. Also when I sat down on the toilet my head bumped the sink on the other 'side' of the bathroom. For a country with the tallest residents in the world, I never expected the bathroom to be the smallest in the world. As mentioned before this is located right next to the train station...so you hear the trains all night and morning except for the few hours they stop running. You also hear a lot of traffic on the street and sirens. I recommend taking noise canceling headphones or earpieces for a quiet night's sleep The last funny thing about this place is I wanted to go to the gym while here, which is according to the elevator on the 8th floor. However, the buttons only go to the 7th floor. I asked the front desk worker and he said yes the gym is open and you can go up there. So I took the elevator to the 7th floor and then took the stair to the 8th floor. There were no lights on in the 8th floor except emergency sign lights. There was also no carpet and as I walked around the corner I came to a construction zone that was blocked off with a ton of stuff lying around everywhere where it looks like nobody's been up to this floor in years. Thus the gym if it exists is on the other side of an area you can't traverse. Overall if you just want a place that's convenient to the train station and city that's pretty cheap this is your place. If you want to stay somewhere where you can sleep and shower you may want to try elsewhere.

For some who adore IKEA…read morefurniture this hotel must be looking horrible cause it didn't contain anything square nor colourful inside but on the other hand this hotel beat the heart of Art Deco style which was very popular back in the 20s to 40s before Retro took over the empire. Although the shape of their furniture's were nice it wasn't valuable. They probably have chosen the right era but the wrong attitude that made their furniture become a useless junk instead of antique. However few of their possession are really beautiful like the mirror on the first floor hall and the chandelier on the stairway. read full article ... http://lovingchristo.com/apollo-hotel-nijmegen/

Everything was nicely furnished: the bed was comfortable, the shower was powerful, and the room was good-sized. The hotel is a short walk from the train station and convenient to much of the city. Breakfast is served in the morning in a breakfast room (I believe outside, too, weather permitting) and consists of bread, cheese, yogurt, fruit, coffee, juice, and so on. The staff is extremely friendly and accommodating, also! There is a bit of street noise, depending on the evening, although this was not a problem for me. As with many hotels the stairs are steep and there is no lift/elevator, but again, this was no problem. All in all, a very good experience. I would definitely stay here again!
