Long-time member. There are no complaints on what all other positive reviews have said here and agree. A few areas to improve on though: the lead pastors have for years been ultra transparent about their church and personal lives on the pulpit. So we as their congregation have followed along and supported where we could in their times of need. However, in saying so, their times of need on funding the church and also their lifestyles have been fairly frequent and often. Then when things are going well, and they are sharing about traveling the world on mission or learning trips and going to exclusive sporting events or being invited to experiences that we as a congregation can only listen on and not experience ourselves... the church leadership can seem well, self-serving. Polish the weekly sermons to where only relevant messages of salvation and deliverance and direction are shared. The over share on their family finances, the houses they've lost and bought, the trips and travel and amenities they enjoy after asking their congregation to tithe deeply and frequently they should DEFINITELY edit out. As what comes through feels like we're funding a lifestyle and not a house of the Lord. This review's intention is built entirely on giving the truth in a loving manner to the pastors. Please fix this so you can continue to grow in a healthy way and not lose parishioners who are tired of the asking and the complaining from the front of the church. read more

I usually don't rate churches, but this place is worthy of a review. Someone referred LHCC to me and I thought I'd check it out. As soon as I walked in I was greeted by at least 3 people in the span of 10 minutes, which is rare compared to my other recent church experiences lately. The church is very small and the 11:00 service I went to was about 1 hour long and for the most part enjoyable. The worship and preaching was okay, but in my personal opinion it was not anything life changing. I've been part of a churches that are very charismatic/ spirit filled and this is nothing new for me, but I'm not really digging the preachy approach to delivering the message. It's nothing wrong with preacher, it's that I don't care too much for the approach. Even though the pastor was teaching when he preached the message, I personally prefer a more systematic theological approach to being taught. I will admit that when I first became a christian I loved the hyped up preachy approach, but now that I'm further along in my walk with God I like a more subdued "classroom" type of environment. This might not make sense to most people who read this review, but I thought it might be helpful for those few who understand where I'm coming from. Overall the people are warm, welcoming, friendly and eager to greet new comers and I'd say that is a major plus. I'm glad I was able to experience this place and I might make my way back for 1 last visit, but LHCC isn't quiet what my heart is looking for. If anyone was looking for a spirit filled on fire church for God I would definitely recommend LHCC to them. A huge thanks to LHCC for the warm welcome! read more

My husband and I have been coming to this church for about a year and a half now. It has been the best thing that has happened to us. Everyone is so sweet and inviting. The moment I entered this church I felt as though I had found my long lost family. Any time I need prayer, every single person there is more than willing to do so. I love how diverse this church is and I love how involved they are in the community. For anyone looking for a local church, this is the one. You won't be disappointed:) Thank you Lineage Church for opening your doors to my family and friends. read more

This is honestly one of the best places I love being. However, by place I don't mean building, I mean community. The people are what make this church so loving, inspirational and empowering. The services are upbeat, lively, and intentional in providing opportunity for the power of God to move. Living Hope is extremely family friendly, community oriented, and has a vision for God's move throughout the world. It is a strong multicultural, multigenerational church that will bless your socks off! If you're looking for a place with solid biblical teaching, a touch from the presence of God, a loving-supportive community, and to be thrust into your God-given destiny, then this "place" is for you. read more

I went to Living Hope for the first time in December 2005, and it changed my life. I wasn't a Christian yet, and I visited many churches that year: I went to an all-black church, an all white church, a Filipino church, a Tongan church, a mulit-cultural church (but no Spirit), and serveral Catholic churches. Some churches had great music but poor teaching, some churches had great teaching but weak worship, other churches had great teaching and worship, but no diversity; still others had all of the above, but they were all old. Living Hope has the perfect combination of worship, teaching, diversity, and relevance. It is a mission-centered church, where they go to indonesia, cambodia, mozambique, ethiopia, and many other countries spreading the life-changing Gospel of Jesus Christ. If you're looking for a charismatic, non-seeker-sensitive church that delivers a powerful encounter with God day in and day out, then Living Hope Christian Center is for you! read more

This is my second review I've written on Yelp! But since I found this amazing church last month through Yelp (who would ever guess???), I thought I'd return the favor. I LOVE Living Hope! I moved to the Bay Area 16 months ago, which meant leaving my family in NC. After 4 months of looking for a church, I gave up on trying to find a Christian home. I hadn't experienced Church and Christianity in the same way my halmoni and mom have, but out of respect to their prayers, decided to start looking for a church again last month. Since moving out I haven't lived a life with God in it. When I started looking for a church again last month, I was mainly looking for: - contemporary music - intergenerational with youth and elders in leadership roles - multi-cultural relatable congregation, with majority of people of color - wheelchair accessibility / disability competency (I use a wheelchair) I don't think I was looking for the Holy Spirit or a relationship with God. Imagine my surprise. I found all of the above and to my honest surprise, a relationship with Christ. I'm so glad to having Living Hope in my life. This is the place to go if you are hungry for something, even if you don't know what it is yet. Try it! You can sit with me. :-) read more

I feel God's love here everyday. I get set free every time I hear the words that come out of the Pastors and leaders of this house. I truly learned what it means to be a son and to really be free in who I am in my Jesus! He is my shield and my fortress and my strong tower. I can run to Him and be safe. This is home. I love that this is a missions focused church. I went to Ethiopia last year in May and it was SO POWERFUL!!!! I got to experience the power and the love of GOD is so many ways. I love how there are so many opportunities to serve locally and globally, from judea, samaria, to the ends of the earth... through the year. This year is the year of Stewardship!! We are learning how to steward not only our finances, but the WORD of the LORD. Let's GOOO!!!! read more

Incredible church, incredible people, we serve an awesome God! My wife and I have been going here for years now and it's everything we've been looking for. The pastors wife makes way to much noise while the pastor is preaching. Yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah! No disrespect, but it's awful and you can't really meditate on what the paster is trying to say. After hearing the noise through the whole sermon, I really just wanted to walk out!! I won't go back. You will understand if you visit. I hope this post will help them grow as a church. read more

Words cannot express how much this church has changed my view point. This has changed my life for the better. I was a former God hating atheist who was always out for vengeance. But for the love of Jesus Christ, he has saved me. More to follow. read more

Myself and my 5 yr old son have been attending Living Hope since the end of November of last year 2010. It's amazing how God moves once you become obedient to His will. For two years I was searching for a church home. I placed a criterion that I only wanted to look for churches near my home in the San Leandro, East Oakland Area. Each Sunday I would return home frustrated that I could not find a church home. From desperation one night I cried out to the Lord and I said "God I don't care how far the church is just where do you want me to go where I will grow, and can provide my gifts."From out of nowhere Living Hope dropped out of the sky--well not literally but it felt that way to me. The first Sunday I attended--I had a grand time in the Lord. After entering the church which does not look like a typical church building I was welcomed by an usher--immediately as I was directed to my seat I was swallowed by the presence of the Holy Spirit. My spirit was leaping for joy. Everything I prayed for in a church; the size, being multicultural, having a children church and even the music was right on point. Pastor Benjamin is an anointed, dynamic speaker. He breaks His messages down and provides relatable life examples. At the end of Pastor Benjamin's sermons you walk away learning something new and how to apply the word to your life. And to top it off he is super funny! Furthermore, His' wife Pastor Sunhee is a perfect complement to him and she is a mighty, anointed woman in the Lord. It's going on 2 1/2 months and each time we come back (I attend both Sunday and Thursday nights service) we always have a great time. I recalled during the times when my son and I were looking for a church home I would ask him at the end of each service how did you like that church he would say, "no mom we gotta keep looking." Well a couple of weeks ago my son said "can we keep coming back forever and ever." I looked at him smiling and I said I was thinking the same thing. I know that this is the place that God wants myself and my boy to take root and grow. So I can finally declare that I'M HOOKED and so is my son! If you're looking for a church that is spirit-filled, loving and fun come to Living Hope you will have an awesome time in the Lord! read more

Living Hope Christian Center changed my life. I experienced supernatural healing in my body. That's how you know Living Hope is a spirit-centered, sonship focus, missions driven church where the pastors live righteous lives, and where people are real. God truly reigns in this place from the way the people serve to the way people love eachother. I always feel like I'm having a family reunion every Sunday. I love it here! read more

I love my church! I've been here since 2004 when the church started, and for many years I was commuting multiple times a week from Fremont. Now I live in Oakland, so I'm there as often as possible. The folks have become my family, and it would be hard to imagine life without them. read more

I am blessed by the love, joy and peace that I receive at LHCC. Praise God for this wonderful church.

When I first moved out to the Bay Area I looked all over for a church and Living Hope Christian Center was the one that stood out to me above all the others right from the start because of the undeniable presence of God! If you're looking for a community and not just a place to gather on Sunday then this is the church for you! I know joining a church can be a bit frightening at times. We're usually a bit hesitant to commit because we've all had our share of bad experiences with previous churches. Living Hope is where I found more than a church. I found a family. I wanted to write this yelp review after a year of being a part of Living Hope. It has been and still continues to be an amazing journey. Pastors Benjamin and Sunhee Robinson and remarkable leaders and i'm so glad I serve under their leadership. It feels good knowing that they aren't looking for numbers but are interested in seeing you experience the most powerful encounter with God imaginable through word, worship, and fellowship. They, along with the rest of the living hope community, have walked with me through a lot of my baggage. Not only have they seen me through my issues, but have propelled me into my God-given destiny. I find myself in tears of joy when I think about what God does in and through Living Hope. Here's a link to their missions trips (which is one of my favorite things about the church) http://www.livinghopecc.us/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=53&Itemid=64 Hope to see you on Sunday! read more

My family and I have been members of LHCC for a little over a year now. We came from another church; we came to LHCC hurt and in need of restoration. I can say that the first time we set foot in this church you felt God's presence. Every service we come out of we are challenged and encouraged. God has used LHCC to change our lives and it has. This is church is filled with soooooo much POWER and LOVE its mind blowing how much God's love is demonstrated in this church. When I first visited Living Hope I felt nothing but welcome and I instantly knew I wanted LHCC to be my home church. That was over 3 years ago, and I am now a member alongside my husband. There's no question about it, Living Hope is, hands down, the best church I've attended in my entire life. Never have I felt so challenged to grow in my walk with God, so guided by the large group of wise leadership, and SO loved by so many. Pastors Benjamin and Sunhee Robinson are prime examples of pastors who lay down their lives to serve. They take their calling seriously and shepherd their congregation with love, wisdom, and power. Before having a child (and having my lap filled with a little one) I was big on taking notes during each sermon. Never have I filled up a notebook as fast as I have in Living Hope. The pastors share SO much of their God-given insight & knowledge during each message, it's impossible not to want to record every word! I would highly recommend Living Hope to anyone in search of a home church. read more
