The birds can be a bit annoying, but guess that comes with the great outdoors. Definitely a nice spot to chill, take a walk and get those steps in. This area feels safe and well maintained. When I went, there weren't too many people, so it was pretty peaceful. The trail can get busy and there are bathrooms along the way (I didn't use them though) There's plenty of parking here, but just be sure you leave on time for closing. I've heard they lock up and it can be an issue with getting out. (not sure how true this is but I won't chance it) There is more parking elsewhere with trail access too, I just personally haven't found it.

After entering the main entrance, follow the road and turn right where you will see a yellow locked gate. This is the beginning of the paved walking trail. There's plenty of parking at the main entrance, and the paved trail is perfect for walkers, runners, bikers, and even kids tagging along. It's basically a choose-your-own-adventure: bird watching, fishing (permit required), or just a casual picnic. Bonus perks: lots of porta potties and benches when you need a breather. If you're holding out for a real restroom, there's one just past the second baseball field--plan accordingly. Photo is attached to show where to locate this. Heads up: the main gate is closed every 2nd Tuesday of the month, but don't panic--you can still access the trail through the neighborhood entrance off Baltimore Drive. Between the cost of fishing trips, dining, and shopping, it feels like parking could be included. If you're leaving your car while out on a multi-day trip, though, it's an added expense you'll likely have to accept. Fisherman's Landing does offer a gated lot for anglers and visitors. The area itself is pleasant, with nice views of the boats and marina. While waiting, we enjoyed walking along the waterfront and checking out the fishing fleet. If you're hungry, Point Loma Seafood and Mitch's Seafood are both great options for fresh seafood nearby. Overall, not my favorite place because of the parking fees, but it's a decent spot to spend some time before a fishing trip.

The captain at the harbor stated that he has received good information on fish biting at the tuna pins. This had everyone on the boat amped to go get some. Unfortunately we ended up boating from the harbor 6 hours offshore to a sea of nothing. We passed numerous kelp beds that had already been cleaned out. We then boated and boated and boated. Ultimately the captain turns around and starts heading back closer to the 9mile bank. Still nothing, no communication from the captain on what's going on or the deckhands. Then at around 1:45 he comes over the intercom and said, hey guys fishing has been slow all throughout the fleet. Mind you now, this is a full day trip, it's 1:45 and he says that we are going to start heading back cause they have another trip they have to prepare for. At this time everyone is pissed, no effort put in by the captain no communication and long day of boating at 8mph. If you guys are familiar with the old boat the Mustang that was once there, know it's now the Tradition. Same bad service same bad experiences received from when the previous captain ran it. Hate to leave such a bad lengthy review but man this is not right to your clients who pay good money to come aboard your vessel. Oh yeah, they also through in a fuel charge at the end of the trip that was not disclosed. I get it fuel is costly but announce that at the start and collect it as all the other boats do. Hands down worst experience ever and I have been fishing my whole life. And to add insult to injury, many of the boats from seafourth on over to H&M had numerous fish caught and landed. I went home with a big Cali sheephead, a sand bass, and a calico. I also caught 5-6 undersized calico which were tossed back for another day. All fishing has some luck to it, so we went in with realistic expectations and were pleasantly surprised. Approx. cost breakdown for PM half day trip: ~$75 ticket $18 pole/tackle rental (you can bring your own) $3 bag fee to store your catch through the day ~$3 per fish fee to fillet or gut/gill your catch (you can opt out and take them whole to fillet yourself later) IMO, worth it for 5 hours of consistent fishing with mostly unlimited live bait. Food/drink onboard is cash only so bring some money and tip your deckhands.

Admission is $10 per person (for adults), and there's plenty of parking available. The reservoir recently expanded the dam, and the lake is absolutely beautiful. There's people fishing, wakeboarding, tubing, jet skiing, swimming, or simply relaxing by the water. Just keep in mind that Monday through Thursday is reserved for fishing only while the weekends are open for recreational boating and water sports. The scenery is gorgeous, and the atmosphere is incredibly peaceful. It's the perfect place to escape the city, spend time with family or friends, or just unwind and enjoy nature. If you're looking for a relaxing day on the water in San Diego County, San Vicente Reservoir is definitely worth the visit.
