Fun spot for toddlers! We came here today for a midday outing. My toddler enjoyed running around checking out the animals, taxidermy and story time.

We had such an amazing time at the Lindsay Wildlife Experience in Walnut Creek! We visited to celebrate my daughter's birthday, and it turned out to be the perfect outing. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted by friendly and knowledgeable staff who made us feel welcome. The facility was well-maintained, which made the whole visit feel comfortable and enjoyable. The highlight of our trip was definitely the owl exhibit--my daughter had been eagerly wanting to see one, and she was thrilled to get a close-up view of these beautiful creatures. It was clear the staff genuinely care about the animals and take pride in providing an educational and engaging experience. The owl's impressive features and calm presence were unforgettable. Overall, we had a fantastic day exploring the different exhibits and learning about the incredible wildlife they care for. Whether you're visiting with kids or just an animal lover, Lindsay Wildlife Experience is a gem, and I highly recommend it for anyone looking for a fun and enriching experience. We'll definitely be back.

PRO-TIP: $3 entry with SNAP/EBT under Museums for All program! Definitely worth stopping by! You can easily spend a couple hours here learning about the local wildlife and conservation efforts that you can do at the individual level and community level too. There's LOTS of animals here as well and many of them are rescues taken in from the community that can't be released back into the wild and I think that's pretty cool. There's parking outside but since it's in a suburban area there's also street parking and on particularly busy days you can also park in the church across the street when it's marked as overflow parking. You go up the stairs to enter in at first and there's a small gift shop area there as well. There's lots of interactive displays and hands on okay to touch displays for children as well. Lots of taxidermy models as well as live specimens for children to observe. Love that there are so many animals here from arthropods, amphibians, reptiles, birds, and mammals. Keep your eye out on their schedule for keeper talks so you can get up close and personal to learn about the animals, how they're taken care of, their own stories, and how you can help support them as well. There's also an outdoors area where you can take a look at their raven as well as some of their hawks and other raptor birds. I thought it was pretty cool that for a "smaller" wildlife "zoo" that they have a bald eagle! I also liked that they had more "common" animals here too such as rabbits, guinea pigs, alligator fence lizard, the common chuckwalla, and a rock dove pigeon as well. I also thought it was super cool that some of their smaller falcon type birds were hanging out indoors and were just squawking away. Definitely eye catching! Another thing that I really loved was the care in husbandry that they provided for their animals. I saw them do routine weighing, temperature gun scanning for basking spot, and feeding for their chuckwalla and it was quite similar to my own for my beardie and it's quite heartwarming. Definitely a must stop if you're in the area and love animals!

We have the annual pass here and couldn't be happier. They do outdoor demonstrations as well as have a great setup inside for kids to learn. I love how they use students and children to help with the animals, do demonstrations and speeches, and run the inside. The place is clean and well managed and affordable. Annual pass is great for families and the people involved are just a great family. My kids love it here and love to bring friends too.

Came here with family looking for an outdoorsy and fun encounter with animals. I was expecting this place to have a lot more outdoors than it did. The highlight was the porcupine presentation outdoors, which we coincidentally arrived just in time to enjoy. Nearly everything else was inside, including many artificial animal exhibits. Indoor displays were informative and catchy. I think all the adults learned something. It was fun to see the bald eagle, but I would have liked to have seen more animals like that. The indoor vet area was also interesting for my child. Bottom line: this is a "nice to do" but not a "must do", especially for the price ($50 for two adults and a 2 year old).

This place is ok. To be honest I felt underwhelmed. It was small. I tried to come two other times and the Parking lot is always full. This time I parked behind a nearby church. I saw a Guinea pig, rats, cockroaches, bald eagle, salamander, and desert turtle. The staff are friendly.

We have an Oakland Zoo membership and since Lindsay Wildlife Experience has reciprocity of 50% with Oakland Zoo we decided to check them out. $17 for two adults and a toddler, not bad. Though the facility is on the smaller side, there was an abundance of local animals to learn about and look at. The education programs with the animal ambassadors was also fun and the presenters were very engaging with the little ones. It will probably take around an hour or so (maybe two if you go slow and attend the presentations) to see everything. Bring a sack lunch, the facility is in Larkey Park so plenty of space for a picnic or to let the little ones run around. Plenty of parking at the facility and the shared parking lot with the Church across the street.

Awesome place . Great place for date or family day. We saw crow named hello. You have so much fun for looking for animal.

came in a saturday and it was low crowds! i loved that this place is small enough to really get to see animals in their exhibits so you don't have to wait your turn but big enough that you can spend an hour or so exploring. we loved that the shows were often so we could leave and come back in to see a specific animal. its right next to a large park so we took advantage of a picnic for lunch and came back in to see the animals again. this is best for small children as there isn't many exhibits as say bigger named museums. ample parking and stroller space!

We ended up purchasing the best membership offered because the kids truly enjoy coming here and learning about the animals and how Lindsay Wildlife helps injured animals heal again. We love the staff and how kind they are to the kids! My son is excited for their upcoming summer bug camp! The kids really like how the museum offers interactive exhibits (listen on the loud speaker for times or ask at the counter), including up-close encounters with small animals and birds. They also have live animal encounters, and educational presentations. FYI - Parking can get really packed on weekends or when the downstairs is reserved for birthday parties, so you might have a walk a little to get to the museum after finding some street parking.

It's a great place for school tours or quick weekday tours, otherwise I can imagine it getting crowded especially during the show/presentation times. We went on a friday, both our kids, one is just starting to walk so it was a great time there with just a few people and lots of space for him to practice walking. They have some amazing exhibits, the bee hive was my favorite because I have never seen it such up close and trying to find the Queen! They also have a nice big play room and some bean bags around. The presentation at 1 pm was the Black widow spider on Friday, and the presenter was amazing. She was really good at it, friendly, animating exactly when needed, keeping everyone interested and had many fun facts. Parking was easy and there is a nice park right next door if you want to spend more time with kid activities.

Rose L.

Cute hour long activity for kids and adults alike. Love their mission of healing birds and making sure they're okay. Favorite was the wood pecker.

Charae P.

Such a cute hidden gem for family friendly fun! Totally enjoyed walking around the museum and checking out the awesome wildlife. Before this event, we have never seen a real life bald eagle in person. So cool!

Shortly after arriving, I noticed a water bottle refill station inside the museum and refilled my water bottle there. While quietly viewing an exhibit with my family, we were suddenly approached in a very loud and confrontational manner by a female staff member who stated, "Ma'am, ma'am! There is no food or drink allowed in the museum. You either need to leave or throw your water bottle away." I was surprised by both the tone and the interaction, especially considering the museum itself provided the refill station inside the building. I explained that I had filled the bottle there, but was told that people are apparently expected to "refill their bottles and then leave the museum to drink from them," which honestly made very little sense. Because I am pregnant, I asked if I could simply keep the bottle closed while inside, rather than repeatedly separating from my family whenever I became thirsty. She reluctantly agreed, but after that interaction, staff members continuously followed my family throughout the museum for the remainder of our visit, seemingly monitoring whether I drank water. What should have been an enjoyable family outing became extremely uncomfortable and unenjoyable. Being closely followed from exhibit to exhibit over a closed water bottle felt excessive and unnecessary, especially under the circumstances. Unfortunately, the experience left my family and I not wanting to return. I truly hope future guests are treated with more kindness, professionalism, common sense, and dignity.

My little family came here for a first visit on the Saturday of the long Memorial Day weekend, and…read moreit was a delightful and eye-opening experience. TBH, my expectation were kind of high because just the month before, we had visited a planetarium in Arizona that just blew my mind and was so cool (will write a review on that one soon) so I think my review of this Space & Science Center might be a little more serious, ha! To be fair, this is not a planetarium, although there is one here, which is used to show short featured films about different space exploration and nature-based stories which we did watch 3 of and they were really good. However, as a Space & Science Center, the focus is on space exploration by NASA and the science behind it. Specifically, the NASA Ames Research Visitor Center is located here. This place is ok for little kids, but probably better for those about 7-8 or older as they'll actually remember and get something out of this Science Center. When you enter, there's a little gift shop to the right, then you will purchase your tickets (which can be applied towards membership should you decide to buy an annual one) and enter into the exhibit hall on the first floor. From there, the planetarium/theatre is to your right and there's shows to watch every hour on the hour, some of them are a half-hour long, and some are only about 15 minutes or so. Different topics/titles and they do not repeat, so it is best to get to this Space & Science Center by mid-morning and plan to stay the whole day. Next there's a NASA visitor center with exhibits of actual space suits, lots of pictures of historic and current/recent space endeavors and journeys, as well as posters explaining how NASA developed the technology to take us to the moon and different parts of the universe. There are also interesting autobiographical posters written by astronauts and other space scientists on their roles in space exploration. There are a few hands-on activities such as using Kinetic sand, and other low-level simple engineering type of fun experiences for younger kids. Finally, there's also a cafeteria on the first floor towards the back of the building. Prices are a little high, but expectedly so for a museum/science center type of venue. On the second floor, there's several classrooms, and then there are some exhibits from retired space vehicles such as a real module you can climb in and play with that still has all the (non-functioning, obviously) controls. My kids had a great time with that. There were even a dog-space-vehicle/container thing, and lots of smaller spacecrafts and many space suits and miniature replicas of space shuttles on display. Finally, on the top floor, there's the observatory with several huge rooms that contained one telescope each for viewing real stars and planets, although they were all hard to see during daytime and realistically, they're all so far, you can only see like a speck of light when viewing Venus, for example, or the star Betelgeuse. But since it's outdoors, you find yourself surrounding by the redwoods out in nature, and it is just so peaceful and beautiful. I imagine when it gets even warmer later on in the summer, at night, that the night sky would be spectacular here. Overall, we really enjoyed coming to Chabot Space & Science Center. It has something for everyone and my kids, my husband, and I all enjoyed it. It's a cool place to feel the vastness of our universe and the greatness of our Creator, and to appreciate that humans have made some pretty cool strides in exploring and discovering our galaxy and yet we've only just scratch the surface. We'll plan to come back, but may try to visit other similar space centers first.

Sarah and her team were very willing to be flexible with us and allow us time to reschedule if needed. My husband and I decided to move forward with the event at our scheduled time. We also received assistance on the day of the event, Liz DeLaCampa, who was very helpful and was lovely to work with. She was very communicative and very willing to be helpful. A disclaimer for catering and food: The kitchen does not have a place to cook. However, this venue is ideal for working with a food truck vendor that has their own kitchen for cooking and preparing food (which is what we did for catering). The kitchen does have a lot of storage space as needed for dishes, cups storing desserts and floral as needed. What we really liked about this venue is a lot of the basic things needed for an event are available such as indoor and outdoor chairs as well as tables. The team here is wonderful and this venue is highly recommended for an event with a small to medium size party. Highly recommended and they have packages that are available (and very reasonable) for parts of the venue (garden area, fireplace room, reception hall or all of the above). Thank you to the team again who were so helpful, so kind and very thoughtful. We will keep you in mind for future events!

This is one of the coolest car-related things I've ever done…read more The Cobra Experience (which is a non-profit) periodically has an event called "What's That Third Pedal For?" This event which happens bi-monthly provides an eclectic group of cars with a variety of transmissions to learn on. I had not driven a manual transmission car for at least 9 years (when I had parked a vintage Porsche 911 during a previous job - BOY that had a heavy clutch) and for $30.50 ($15.50 if you're between 15-20), this was an absolute no brainer! The cars provided today were a Nissan Pathfinder Northwest Edition, 2005 Chevrolet Corvette C6 Z51 package, 1965 Shelby Mustang GT350 289 HiPo, and a Superformance Shelby Cobra reproduction - not just any reproduction but the one that was used on-screen in Ford Vs. Ferrari(!!!). The course is designed to have participants get the chance to drive each car around a designated area surrounding the museum for 2 laps after receiving an initial ride-along lap with the instructor beforehand and parking in the designated 'pit' area to swap seats. This included multiple stop/starts to practice clutch release, upshifting and downshifting. All the cars appeared to be well-cared for and the instructors were super patient and helpful. My goal for this was to see if I could get through it without stalling. Not only did I manage this goal even with the GT350 and Cobra having no power brakes/power steering and super-heavy clutches, but all 4 instructors gave me high marks. What an absolute treat, and on top of that they gave each participant schwag bags filled to the brim and even a poster! WOW! I highly recommend this event alone as if you are looking to practice stick-shift. It's a fantastic way to do so in a safe, controlled environment as well as potentially drive special cars as a bonus for a very reasonable price. I'll definitely go back to the museum soon for a visit. Thank you to everyone the Cobra Experience, this was AWESOME!
