This is a nice little wildlife museum. It's very small. Maybe get through it in 45 min to an hour. They have wildlife greet and meet scheduled at different times throughout the day outside in the Grove area in front of museum. We enjoyed the bird display and all the other animals. It's seems throughout the day they are constantly cleaning or feeding the animals that allows you to watch. The staff is very friendly. If you coming from more than an hour away to this place save yourself. Moreover, It's best for toddlers to elementary kids. The parking lot is small and you can park on the street or the parking lot behind the couch. Also, there is a park playground behind the museum for play and maybe a brought home sit down lunch. read more

We love the Lindsay Wildlife museum! I've been here many times with a family member who is autistic, and it's a great spot to get out of the house for an hour or so. I recommend going on a weekday if crowds are an issue. There is just enough to see where it isn't overwhelming. If you are with a group that reads the informational bits around the museum, I'd say give yourself 1-2 hours. There are often staff-led exhibits, such as showing the kids a snake. The staff are so friendly, and it's obvious they love what they do! read more

Great little museum that's definitely worth the money. It's not huge, but there's a lot to enjoy, especially if you take your time going through everything. The bald eagle was a highlight for me, and honestly the poop exhibit by the restroom was surprisingly fun and educational. Only here would that actually be a memorable part of the visit. They brought out animals you could touch like a snake and even cockroaches, which made the experience feel a lot more engaging. I won 4 free passes to this museum through an online auction for charity and finally got to take our 3 year grandson here. He was very excited and ran to check out all the exhibits. Luckily the museum is small enough that we could try to keep up with his energy. We parked across the street at the church as the parking lot here was full. It's best to go after 12 Noon if you can, as the mornings can be busy, especially since we came the day after New Year's. There is no onsite cafe so we brought our own snacks and at 12 Noon when there was storytime in the room adjacent to the restroom on the left, our grandson was hungry and there are tables and chairs in this room, so he had a quick snack while listening to the storytelling. 2 hours was sufficient in exploring the museum and our grandson had a great time. read more

We like the purpose of this museum which is educating people about local natural wildlife and rescuing and releasing orphaned and injured wildlife. We had such an amazing time at the Lindsay Wildlife Experience in Walnut Creek! We visited to celebrate my daughter's birthday, and it turned out to be the perfect outing. PRO-TIP: $3 entry with SNAP/EBT under Museums for All program! Definitely worth stopping by! You can easily spend a couple hours here learning about the local wildlife and conservation efforts that you can do at the individual level and community level too. There's LOTS of animals here as well and many of them are rescues taken in from the community that can't be released back into the wild and I think that's pretty cool. There's parking outside but since it's in a suburban area there's also street parking and on particularly busy days you can also park in the church across the street when it's marked as overflow parking. You go up the stairs to enter in at first and there's a small gift shop area there as well. There's lots of interactive displays and hands on okay to touch displays for children as well. Lots of taxidermy models as well as live specimens for children to observe. Love that there are so many animals here from arthropods, amphibians, reptiles, birds, and mammals. Keep your eye out on their schedule for keeper talks so you can get up close and personal to learn about the animals, how they're taken care of, their own stories, and how you can help support them as well. There's also an outdoors area where you can take a look at their raven as well as some of their hawks and other raptor birds. I thought it was pretty cool that for a "smaller" wildlife "zoo" that they have a bald eagle! I also liked that they had more "common" animals here too such as rabbits, guinea pigs, alligator fence lizard, the common chuckwalla, and a rock dove pigeon as well. I also thought it was super cool that some of their smaller falcon type birds were hanging out indoors and were just squawking away. Definitely eye catching! Another thing that I really loved was the care in husbandry that they provided for their animals. I saw them do routine weighing, temperature gun scanning for basking spot, and feeding for their chuckwalla and it was quite similar to my own for my beardie and it's quite heartwarming. I love how they use students and children to help with the animals, do demonstrations and speeches, and run the inside. The place is clean and well managed and affordable. Came here with family looking for an outdoorsy and fun encounter with animals. I was expecting this place to have a lot more outdoors than it did. The highlight was the porcupine presentation outdoors, which we coincidentally arrived just in time to enjoy. Nearly everything else was inside, including many artificial animal exhibits. Indoor displays were informative and catchy. I think all the adults learned something. It was fun to see the bald eagle, but I would have liked to have seen more animals like that. The indoor vet area was also interesting for my child. Bottom line: this is a "nice to do" but not a "must do", especially for the price ($50 for two adults and a 2 year old). read more

We have an Oakland Zoo membership and since Lindsay Wildlife Experience has reciprocity of 50% with Oakland Zoo we decided to check them out. $17 for two adults and a toddler, not bad. Though the facility is on the smaller side, there was an abundance of local animals to learn about and look at. The education programs with the animal ambassadors was also fun and the presenters were very engaging with the little ones. It will probably take around an hour or so (maybe two if you go slow and attend the presentations) to see everything. Bring a sack lunch, the facility is in Larkey Park so plenty of space for a picnic or to let the little ones run around. Plenty of parking at the facility and the shared parking lot with the Church across the street. read more

I used to volunteer here over a decade ago...it truly is worth going to--for all ages. Informative, educational, friendly staff.

It's a great place for school tours or quick weekday tours, otherwise I can imagine it getting crowded especially during the show/presentation times. We went on a friday, both our kids, one is just starting to walk so it was a great time there with just a few people and lots of space for him to practice walking. They have some amazing exhibits, the bee hive was my favorite because I have never seen it such up close and trying to find the Queen! They also have a nice big play room and some bean bags around. The presentation at 1 pm was the Black widow spider on Friday, and the presenter was amazing. She was really good at it, friendly, animating exactly when needed, keeping everyone interested and had many fun facts. Parking was easy and there is a nice park right next door if you want to spend more time with kid activities. read more

came in a saturday and it was low crowds! i loved that this place is small enough to really get to see animals in their exhibits so you don't have to wait your turn but big enough that you can spend an hour or so exploring. we loved that the shows were often so we could leave and come back in to see a specific animal. its right next to a large park so we took advantage of a picnic for lunch and came back in to see the animals again. this is best for small children as there isn't many exhibits as say bigger named museums. ample parking and stroller space! read more

We ended up purchasing the best membership offered because the kids truly enjoy coming here and learning about the animals and how Lindsay Wildlife helps injured animals heal again. We love the staff and how kind they are to the kids! My son is excited for their upcoming summer bug camp! The kids really like how the museum offers interactive exhibits (listen on the loud speaker for times or ask at the counter), including up-close encounters with small animals and birds. They also have live animal encounters, and educational presentations. FYI - Parking can get really packed on weekends or when the downstairs is reserved for birthday parties, so you might have a walk a little to get to the museum after finding some street parking. read more

I visited a month ago and was concerned with some of their practices toward some of their animals. Firstly, they had their rat living in an aquarium tank which is a big no-no due to the ammonia buildup in their urine and poor ventilation in those tanks. Secondly, they had the rat on display living alone. They said he was aggressive toward his cage mate. Fair enough. Then they said the cage mate lives alone in the back. Rats are highly social and need to live with at least one other companion. The staff didn't seem concerned. Lastly, I only saw one guinea pig in its living quarters which was also concerning. Like rats, they are highly social and need companions. I emailed them with my concerns after speaking to staff in person and still feeling confused. That was a month ago and still no response. I'm very concerned about the seeming lack of knowledge or resources to do the bare minimum with some of their animals. I won't be supporting this wildlife experience, unfortunately. read more

Lindsay's wildlife rehabilitation Hospital is a great place for family, kids, or even adults who admire wildlife. Parking: Plenty of parking either in the lot right outside the rehabilitation hospital, if no spots in the lot available no worries there is plenty of street parking available right outside as well. This place is right next to a park, and recreation center so plenty of parking on that side as well, if you don't mind a short walk. Staff: Super friendly right from the moment we walked in. We were greeted with a friendly hello, and a display filled with Madagascar Cockroaches. Throughout the location you will find friendly staff, and all are easily approachable. Not once through my experience did I feel lost, or did I leave with any questions. Animals: Tons of animals you can see here, from creatures that roam the ground, to animals that fly during the day, and during the night. You can see the display case filled with bee's, and see all the workers working all day long to maintain their hive. They also have shows throughout the day where trainers bring out specific animals, and educate the audience. Some of my favorites were the Eagle, Owls, and turtles. Cleanliness: Very clean throughout the location from entrance to thee end, top to bottom. Recommendation: Absolutely, take yourself, take a date, take your family, or even donate if possible. read more

If you're an adult, this space will be about a 2-3 star experience. It's largely the top floor and there is a good bit of seating sprinkled about so you can sit while watching your child interact with the animals behind the glass. As a child I'd say this could be a 4-5 star. The animals above some exhibits look stuffed - they're not, as you will find when they turn to look at you. The rabbit and rat room are captivating on their own, but we also really enjoyed the pigeon following us along his rope. It's a bit on the expensive side, especially as the first floor is largely dedicated to birthday parties, but they do quite a bit of humanitarian work that I think should be considered with the pricetag. Overall Lindsay Wildlife Experience is good to do at least once, and is definitely something if you've moved to the area you should bring your children to. read more

Most of the reviews are spot on. Great for younger kids, but not as good for adults or older kids. My 2 yr old loved being able to get super close to animals the as most of them were stuffed or in a very small enclosure (e.g., frogs, bugs, etc.). It's also small. Big enough to enjoy for a day if you let your kid really just indulge every whim or curiosity without having them rush to see everything. A zoo would be better for older kids and adults though. There's also a nice playground in the park behind the building. You're kid will have fun and be exhausted for a good chunk of the day with this visit. read more

Love the LWE! We had our baby shower there last month and rented out the Manzanita room to host 80 of our family and friends. This is a wonderful wild life museum and a perfect place for events too. All the little kids and adults had a great time exploring the museum during the shower. Katie ( the event coordinator) was such a pleasure to work with when it came to planning and hosting the event. The space was big, beautiful, and clean. They provided all the tables and chairs which was great too. This was cost effective and a great hidden gem- I could see this being great for our little ones birthday parties in the future since they have a smaller room you can rent out too. We stopped by for a visit since this was a nice in-between location to meet up with some family and all of the kids love animals and learning! It's in the midst of a suburban area and the parking lot is a little small but it is right next to a big park. We were able to get discounted admission with reciprocal benefits from our Oakland Zoo membership. That was a big plus since adults are usually $15 admission. All the staff here were super friendly and eager to share their knowledge with the kids! The exhibit area was a little small but I enjoyed the learning opportunities, focus on conservation, and we got to attend a couple animal presentations that were fun for the kids to see the animals up close- I thought seeing a porcupine was awesome! It's not just a "zoo" with exhibits but an actual animal hospital and conservation center which is cool! Like the Oakland Zoo they have different trading cards of their animals and the kids enjoyed talking to staff and doing other activities to collect them! In all, we spent about 2 hours here- I'd say for most kids a 1-2 window is sufficient for a visit. read more

The Lindsay Wildlife Experience is a small museum connected to a hospital specializing in treating wild animals. I would say it's great if you want to see and learn about birds, specifically birds of prey (raptors) like eagles, falcons, an owls. Its not often you'll see these up close in the Bay Area. Sadly, many of the birds here can no longer fly due to injury. We took our 19-mo toddler here and he enjoyed roaming around, although he's probably too young to appreciate what the museum offers. Maybe better for older kids like 3 and up. For adults, you can pretty much see everything in an hour or so. Some notes: 1. You can park on the hospital side, main entrance next to the park, or across the street at WC Friends Church. 2. Entry is $12/adult and COVID-vaccination proof required 3. They have both a bald eagle and Peregrine Falcon here, the fastest animal on Earth (over 200 mph diving) 4. You'll also see a porcupine, turtles, snakes, salamanders, and chubby guinea pigs. They have tarantulas and scorpions too but I didn't see them. 5. There's a nice park right next to the museum so it can be a good place for a picnic too. read more

This is a nice, small museum that's great for younger kids. We live nearby and have a toddler, so the annual membership has been great for regular outings or when the weather is too hot/cold/rainy. They have frequent live demos which are good for younger school aged kids. I like the open space for my toddler can wander and explore. Because of its small size, you can run out of things to see/do fairly quickly, Luckily, it's located next to Larkey Park and pool, so you've got other options for kid entertainment if your little one gets bored. Of note, the annual membership gets you discounted or free admission to lots of museums throughout the country. From what I've noticed, it's one of the cheapest annual museum memberships in the area that partners with lots of different t organizations for reciprocal museum access - again, great for family with kids that like to visit museums for fun when traveling. read more

Well kept and cute! I loved the open cage hawk, owl, falcons and interactive learning experiences that are great for the little ones. It was also nice sitting in on their presentations. We learned that honey is made from hee vomit . We used our ASTC passport as a reciprocal member of another museum and got in for free! The workers were all friendly and gave our son a few collectors cards, including one of the Raven Hello, located outside in their back smaller exhibit. It is a little small for those kiddos that have shorter attention spans but we stayed for about 90 minutes. My friend and I were looking forward to take our 3 toddlers to this museum as it says it's "kid friendly." Well apparently not toddler friendly. Our toddlers ages 2 and 3 were excited as soon as we got in as they are little explorers (total normal behavior for toddlers.) The two ladies that were in the front desk Elisa with glasses and an older lady with grey hair were very aggressive to our babies telling them to keep it quiet. Other kids were also excited and loud but only we got told constantly to keep them quiet. read more

Every animal I've taken here, including a healthy baby finch a days from flying, they euthanize. Non-indigeonous animals are always killed despite being here for more than a century. It seems they want the notoriety of being a helpful, compassionate institution without actually being that. Wild-care in San Rafael is the real deal. They treat every animal's life with importance and worth. Lyndsay is good at making excuses, which is not what the animals in need require. read more
