The problems we've had with this company have been frustrating. After a conversation with the…read moreowner, I have decided to post here. His attitude was one of that these problems were to be expected and I disagree. We had them make my son two AFO's (Ankle Foot Orthosis) which is a brace which supports the ankle and foot. The AFO's, in conjunction with physical therapy, are supposed to correct posture and walking problems. My son walks on his toes and does not have good balance and excess physical stress on his legs. The first appliance was constructed with a sort of hinge so that it could be adjusted as it stretched out heel tendon. This seemed like a great idea except once we finally received the appliance, the darn thing kept coming apart every few days or so; and each time we brought it back to be fixed, it took WEEKS to get back. Even after being given a time frame, they were always not fixed on time. On one such occasion, we were given a day three weeks in the future to pick the fixed appliance. Then on the day we were to pick up, we get a call saying it was not done and that they had to order parts. How on God's green earth does this happen? Don't you know you have to order parts? You wait until the very last minute? Okay. My beef is essentially that my son was without the AFO's for a lot longer than he had them. Any progress made was undermined by the fact that every few days or so, we had to return these AFO's to be fixed. The company was well aware that they had to be worn for at least 7 hours, yet the screws kept falling out, parts kept breaking. Then finally, they decided to recast to make a different appliance, one that was fixed and did not have moving parts. This was a process that, again, took an inordinate amount of time. We did have to cancel that one and only appointment because we were moving. What totally blows my mind is why did it take another MONTH to get in there to just pick them up? After all the time without having the brace, it cannot be worn the way it's supposed to because the ankle is back into it's pre-AFO condition, which is a pointed foot and one that cannot be maintained in the normal standing position of 90 degrees. In the end, it took me awhile to connect with the owner because he was only available in the mornings and I was not. During that conversation, he made his explanations and made it seem that appliances breaking down were common place, but I disagree. Especially since this was happening within days of receiving repaired AFO's. Bottom line is that I will spread my word of mouth to anyone looking for a referral to NOT use this company. Now, when we need to have him refitted, we will need to find another company and we will do so with pleasure. Also, I will contact our insurance company to report the low quality and bad service.

The day of the cruise, her wheelchair battery would not charge. I went to Guest Service to request an electric wheelchair or scooter. We also requested a bed rail for my friend to hold onto to get in and out of bed. Celebrity doesn't offer bed rails and has no electric chairs or scooters unless ordered in advance. I quickly Googled emergency delivery of medical equipment, and Elmora popped up. I called, and Ben answered. I told him my predicament and asked if he could deliver to the cruise ship terminal. Ben was right on it and on his way immediately with a wheelchair and a bed rail. The gangway was to be taken from the ship at 3:20 PM, and Ben arrived at 2:50 PM. At first, security would not give me clearance to leave the ship, but the wonderful woman at guest services made it happen!!!! Thank you, Emma, at Celebrity Silhouette Guest Services!! Without Ben and Elmora, my friend would be sleeping in her non-functioning wheelchair for seven nights. I owe Ben a debt of gratitude for his quick help and kindness. He contacted me during the cruise to see how we were doing. That meant everything to my friend and me! Thank you, Ben, from the bottom of my heart!!!! PS The cost was so affordable, I was a bit shocked.
