Amazing service! We live in Newbury Park and drive out to Santa Barbara for all our cello needs. Linda is an expert and is so helpful. Her and her sister have gone out of their way to help my son pick and maintain his cello. We're very happy with the service here.

    I love my cello!

I drove to Santa Barbara from San Diego because no local luthier was willing to repair the broken neck on my cello.

I'm so glad I found Steve's shop. After moving to the Central Coast 2 years ago, I needed to find…read moresomeone I could trust to work on my guitars. Steve has done pickup replacements and full setups for me on several of my electric and acoustic guitars (Gibson LP, Eastman SB59, G&L ASAT Classic 'S', and an Eastman E10-00-SS). His work has been exceptional and done with great care and respect. He's very easy to work with, has a great sense of humor, and though busy, always seems to get jobs done within a reasonable time. Most recently, I brought in my Eastman acoustic to get the (very tall) bone saddle and action lowered. I brought in my Taylor 514CE (which Gryphon Guitars in Palo Alto had worked on to dial in its action), for Steve to see and play, and serve as an example of the setup I wanted for the Eastman. Not only did Steve match the action on my Taylor, but the Eastman turned out even easier to play! Great work. Needless to say, I've definitely found my go-to guitar shop here.

I heard about Steve from multiple respected sources and I finally caved and brought the guitar in. Well I just my guitar back and it sounds and plays like a dream. It actually feels like I first remember out of the Martin factory. Steve was very kind and told me if I need anything adjusted to let him know. His price was affordable and most of all his work shows true professionalism. I highly recommend him. I wish I could give him more stars.

I am very pleased with the repair and the positive vibe that I get from the guys in the shop. I miss Jensen's, and I am happy to see someone stepping up to fill the guitar shop void in Santa Barbara. It's a cool place to check out nice guitars (Taylors, Fenders, and used gear) or just to get some strings. I've been playing guitar since 1975, seen every guitar shop between Tijuana and San Francisco in those many years, and can tell you that, as far as Riviera Music goes, it's all good.

My friend took her guitar in for service and picked it up without her guitar strap. She was initially told they didn't have it, then later told it had been found and to come back for it. When she returned, she was told they had actually kept it and sold it and couldn't get it back. Instead of taking responsibility and making a real effort to correct the mistake, she was given conflicting explanations and left without a meaningful resolution. What I witnessed afterward was even more disappointing. As we were leaving the shopping center, someone from the second floor of Riviera Music started yelling at my friend about the review she had posted, calling it unkind instead of addressing the issue professionally or accepting responsibility for what had happened. Publicly confronting a customer for leaving an honest review is completely unacceptable and only reinforced the concerns she had already expressed. Every business makes mistakes. The difference is how they respond. Losing a customer's property is bad enough, but the way this situation was handled--from the conflicting stories to publicly yelling at a customer over a negative review--shows a lack of accountability and professionalism. Based on what I personally witnessed, I would not feel comfortable doing business with Riviera Music.
