The parking was ample, the bathrooms and park were kept clean, and the park really provided a nice well rounded experience for everyone. I definitely recommend stopping by here for the views if nothing else if you're in the area.

After having a picnic, we started exploring the river. The river was definitely cold. We found a place outside the park to get in the river as the river officials knocked down people getting in the river. It seems when they rebuilt the bridge, a lot of the debris was allowed to fall into the river and they did not want anyone to have issues. Definitely did get in the river and have some fun.

I had a blast , that was one of the most romantic things I ever did with my husband. One of my fond memories & can't back to try it again . So every time we come to visit my in-laws I will definitely try to come back . It's a perfect romantic gateway , they also have pool & overnight staying . He was already planning about staying at night next time . Can't wait to come back . The reason I took out one star is because of the customer service, it needs a lot of improvements. F R E E place to camp on the edge of a huge reservoir! Very remote and peaceful, although several…read moreboaters came by in the morning (it was a weekend). One vault toilet, and that's pretty much it, amenity-wise. We just set up camp in the road near that, by an old crumbling stone chimney and a few cottonwoods...but you could also camp down on the beach by the actual reservoir. Dirt road in and out, no 4WD necessary...although the road is bumpy in places.

The water is literally right by the RV sites . Tent camping and cabins are available too. Each site has water and power hook ups but NO sewer. There is a dump station at the entrance to the RV park though. They have nice trails through out the park. Next to the RV campgrounds is a HUGE park with playground with swings and slides . My 5yr old son loved the park. They have a cool frisbee course if your into that . The wildlife here was cool too. We saw wild otters , plenty of raccoons so make sure you lock your food up, and deers. We saw a deer practically every day. Heard coyotes at night so keep your pets under watch . Speaking of pets . You are allowed to have dogs here. My 2 dogs had a blast swimming. There was a cool dock right by our site that my son enjoyed swimming at. With a ladder connected to dock so you can do cool cannon balls lol. It had tie ups for boats and jet skis and also a jet ski ramp at the dock. There's a main dock next to this dock where boats pull and and park . They have CLEAN restrooms with super clean showers too in middle of campsites . The camp hosts here are very friendly and eager to help or give info. They also sell firewood at the camp hosts site if you need some. The person who truly made our trip fantastic and enjoyable was Mary. She is one of the most helpful and friendly person we have met on our trip. She went out of her way to make sure my family was relaxed and having a good time. Mary helped us out numerous times with different minor issues and was super nice each time. You can tell she takes pride in her job. Lake Walcott is lucky to have her. THANK YOU SO MUCH MARY FOR EVERYTHING YOU DID FOR MY FAMILY!!! We love yah ! The bugs out here is something else! Especially at night so just make sure you have PLENTY of mosquitos spray!! That's my one major advice and can give!! We definitely will be back and highly recommend Lake Walcott!!

It had everything we needed and more. Central heating and air conditioning was a plus, as was the washer and dryer. (Apparently the observatory is closed on Sunday?). Entrance fee is $7 cash or check when the gate is closed. You have to be in some type of shape as ascending the 60 deg incline hill of sand takes a bit of muscle and cardio endurance to make it up. Once at the top though, it's a serene and calming experience. On the backside of the first sand dune, the Snake River runs through. Similar to an Oasis in the desert. However, as some people may know or experience, wherever there is water, comes the bugs. As the sun dipped below the horizon, the bugs (mosquitoes) attacked. Not just one or two, swarms of mosquitoes. If you're like me and have allergic itching reactions to pest bites, be warned and have full body covering along with repellent. By the time we escaped to the car my son had been bit on the head and face. Just a forewarning. Bruneau Dunes State Park seems like a cool place to be. There were 3-4 individual camping locations that's were RV friendly and vast spaces for kids to run around. Sand Dunes themselves are not WC friendly unless you invent some type of sled to push/pull the WC up the hill. Also, make sure when dusk arrives, COVER UP!
