Much of the time at various museums, but found time to walk to Lake Zurich. Big vast blue mountain lake on the edge of one of the most expensive cities in Europe. Snow covered peaks of the Alps in the background. Fancy promenade for walking around the parks full of gardens that line the Lake. Water fountain in one area, spewing a geyser of water high in the sky. Bridges and wooden towers line the river full of ducks quaking for a handout. On the opposite side is a lake shore walkway. They have a high dive tower in the summer, where dare devils jump off the 30 foot tower into the deep cold waters of the Lake below. A local band is playing. When they see that I'm recording a few seconds of music, one of the performers stops me afterward, asking if I would like to buy a CD of their music. Trying to get hustled again. Not many Asians in Zurich, and no way for me to hide that I was a tourist. As our tour leader, Marion Roy said, this was the first time she had seen a senior Chinese tourist in shorts and sandals. But she had never been to California in the summer nor Hawaii.

There's more history there that is still being uncovered. Some items found around the Lindenhof date back to the 1st century BC. Today, it's a large park with incredible views of Zurich and the Limmat River. We saw groups of people playing boules in the grassy area on a Sunday, as well as people playing chess. There's a fountain in the middle of the square that pays homage to Hedwig's women who wore battle gear to defend the city during the seige of Zurich in 1292. It's worth seeking out as it can be quite peaceful up there even though it's a tourist hot spot. The walk up the somewhat steep pathway and steps to get there from the city center is worth it. I've read that there is an elevator for those with mobility issues, but I didn't see one. There are benches as well as places to sit along the wall. It's shady and breezy up there. A great place to relax and enjoy the view.

We stayed at a hotel on the other side of the river and walked across a lovely bridge to get here. You start at the bottom of the hill where there is a one lane road. While there are cars (or were, when we visited), mostly there are pedestrians and bicyclists. The lane is full of little shops and restaurants all vying for your attention and money. Eventually you come to a wide and tall (long) staircase going up. At the top is what is considered Lindenhof Hill, a quaint park with gorgeous views across the river and towards Lake Zurich. There is a fountain and old pumping station, as well as some Roman artifacts. It's a nice park to just sit and take in the views, or play a game of giant chess/checkers. The streets are all narrow in this area, but once you leave the hill, you need to find Thermengasse. It is a covered pedestrian walkway with grating for a walkway. Underneath the grating is an exposed archeological dig of a Roman heating system. There is signage throughout the passageway telling you all about it. As night began to fall, we made our way around the area, just taking everything all in. We ended up by the Fraumuenster church and walked across the Muenster bridge towards the Niederdorf area. If we had had more time, we would have explored the area more, but we were happy with the highlights we did see. It was a nice little introduction to the city. 78/2025

A good relaxation place in the middle of zurich…read more You will get for sure the good Migros quality service. The Hamam part is really nice. I went two times to the Haman part. The first time (was also my first time in a Haman place) I went to this place I was very well helped by the staff. I had no clue how it worked. Especially once you are in the Haman part there is a small corner where you can buy some drinks and food. The lady really explained it very well and was so nice with us. The Hamam is divided in 5 - 6 parts (you have to follow a path). And you can end with a massage, for this you have to pay extra off course :) The cool thing about this Hamam is, wenn you are a member of one of the 5 Gyms from Migros in Zurich, you can go for only 5 SFr. Really worth it. If you are in Niederdorf and need some relaxation time, just pass by.

My only compliant was my interaction with one of their staff, Lino. It was my first time there and wound up in the wrong place. He came out from one of the rooms, was VERY rude and constantly talked over me when trying to ask for directions. He even went so far as to push me away by the arm and walk back into the room. I complained to the front desk and they said they'd relay the experience I had to the manager (German speaking). For anyone going there for service, steer clear of Lino, he clearly had anger issues. It's only because of my encounter with him that I rated this facility a 3-star instead of 5.

When you step inside this box, you leave wherever you were at, and land in this positive, international and dynamic community of people who are (1) into the pursuit of a healthy body and mind (2) willing to challenge themselves (3) good people working in unity to pursue the common goal of being fitter, stronger and healthier. Every single unique coach at this "box" are very inspiring and have their own "niche" speciality, so any class I end up attending, I know that I will enjoy it... and could be a good reason to attend classes w different coaches at times. The programs, staffing mix and weekday workouts at this "box" are carefully overseen by the Head Coach/Co-Owner Mortiz - who is very experienced and is passionate about CrossFit. Also not to forget, the good members here are also a huge reason why this "box" has a very supportive environment. You may see or hear... - "Keep that ball above that line!" (wall balls encouragement) - "One more round to go, come on!" (when you are on your fifth round...) - "If you can't do this, then you can scale by doing..." (so this box makes everyone feel welcomed - and they are very good about showing various techniques) - "You can save more energy if you do it this way..." (good tips) - "Let us practice 5 rounds of these high pulls..." - "Focus on technique!" (good reminder for injury prevention) - *** Coach/other classmates high five each other after workout *** - *** People sometimes train together, help each other out with equipment, and spotting/tips.*** Special bonuses of this box vs others nearby: - Biggest box in Zurich, and even in Europe (I think). This box is 3x the size of some of the smaller boxes I've been to in the US. Very well equipped. - Various special focused courses, such as: Olympic weight lifting, Gymnastics, Kettlebell, Yoga (yin, for CF), MoveMob (mobility class), Fight Fit (boxing class) and Pilates. - Easy app to book classes, track your progress and see the WODs - A community with special events and competitions throughout the year, with experienced coaches to help mentor you through competitions - They post their weekday WODs online a day before, so you can review ahead of time - VERY ACCESSIBLE. (1) Five minute walk to the Alstetten train station, 5 minute ride to HB OR (2) 31 bus ("Luggwegstrasse") (31 goes by Kreuzplatz-HB-Langstrasse-Hardbrucke-Alstetten-Schlieren) - CrossFit Kids on Saturdays - Open 7 days in a week... with killer workouts on Sundays ;-) - Private nutritional consultation to align with CrossFit training is available Before I joined this "box", I was not fitness savvy. Most of my girlfriends told me, "you will get injured right away", or "you won't like it... it's too hard". But instead of listening to the negativity, I know that I am someone who strives to continually push myself and help others. So I listened to myself and signed up for a membership anyway, and have no regrets from there. I was only able to successfully start up, thanks to the good coaches here, the on-ramp introduction training and my commitment. I am still committed because of the good fitness programming and the supportive environment, and I eagerly look forward to my workouts. I have only the best words to say of the people here who have the passion for CrossFit coaching, and are continually helping me improve in this amazing journey of motivation and fitness. For you globe trotters: Drop-ins are welcomed here and I've seen good experiences with them here (one ended up being my friend!).
