A Chinese garden in Zürich? No... yes! Yep, there is a weird little park right near Zürichhorn that I was a bit adverse to checking out, but I finally took the plunge and brought my mother to see this touristy little spot the first summer she came to visit. It's actually not that bad. Cute little lake with ancient pagodas painted in bright primary colors, it brought to mind the ancient Chinese movies of my youth. My mother was really excited to read all the Chinese characters aloud to me (but I can't remember what they mean now). This garden was a gift from Zurich's Chinese partner town Kunming, as thanks for Zürich's technical and scientific assistance in the development of the Kunming city drinking water supply and drainage. You can only visit March-October and it's closed in the winter. But not a bad place to check out for a few francs if you are ever in the area. (And it photographs beautifully. ;))

The entrance.

Look, in sum the Bahnhofstrasse is Rodeo Drive on steroids. Ok, that is a bit of an exaggeration…read morebut my suggestion would be to start at the end closest to Lake Zurich and stroll with your "baby" on the Bahnhofstrasse toward the train station. Get ready for some of the best shopping on this planet. A simple Truth Look Major Dudes, if your "money is funny," or if you are behind on child support or are currently experiencing financial difficulties don't take "baby" down this street because it will cause depression. On the other hand, you might consider a hotel in Kloten and using the hotel savings to shop. I would make sure I stopped in on Bally (I mean you are in Switzerland, right) and believe it or not there are a couple of moderately priced shops like Vero Moda and Mango just off the Bahnhofstrasse. Also, go to Jelmoli. This department store is "right in the mix," has something for everyone's budget, and has a great buffet restaurant and bar. On the Other Hand For those travelling "with coin" the selection in Bally of Switzerland is unbelievable, this is the nicest Bottega I have ever shopped in and only Louis Vuitton in Paris is better than the Bahnhofstrasse store.

Banhhofstrasse is a popular walking and shopping street in Zurich. Although it's not a long street,…read moreit has a lot of luxury shops and designer brands in a small area. There are other shops such as convenience stores, souvenir shops, and banks. You'll especially find a lot of Swiss watch brands. A lot of trams/trains run through the street used by locals going in and out of the area.
