I would not want anyone else to go through what we did…read more I have attached my original e-mail from June 28th of 2017, declining his services, two responses received from Jarrett from Resort Landscape, LLC a year later in July and August of 2018 and my response to his first e-mail. Dear Jarrett, I received your letter and the landscape plans in the mail on 6/28/17. I would like to make it clear to you that we never signed a contract with you. When you brought your sub-contractor out here when I was not present, and he volunteered the pricing to my wife about what the plans cost, I must say that it was quite alarming to hear about what the plans should cost. Regardless of what you claim the price should be, this is something that you need to take up with him and not us. You were even present during this conversation. You two couldn't even agree on how to layout the landscaping, what type to use and where it should go. I will tell you that two different neighbors told us that $1,800 was an absurd amount and that they did not even pay anywhere near this amount when they did their projects. Despite the fact that we had given you a check it didn't automatically mean that we were going to utilize your company for the project in the end. If you thought so, then you were mistaken. I specifically told you that I was going to get another quote, which to this date I have not done so due to house construction issues. Who in there right mind would go with only one quote anyway? You also offered no references. Based on what my wife heard that day, your text to my wife, and your assumptions you seem to run a shady operation. I had told you on several occasions that I had been really busy dealing with our continued house issues let alone business at work. I asked for your patience. If you think I was intentionally delaying on purpose, then again, your mistaken. I also just learned about your prior unprofessional text to my wife regarding meeting up with you to discuss this project and about the cost of the plans. Who does business like this via text? Despite all of this, I just told my wife yesterday that all the construction issues at the house had tapered off and we needed to get back on the landscaping project. I wanted to at least hear what you had to say and what you had to offer. I will tell you that in the end, I would have never paid the $1,800 for the plans based on what we heard from your contractor, our neighbors and a friend at work. If we could not have worked that part out, then it would not have been a project for Resort Landscape. Now that I have received your threating letter I will no longer consider your services regardless of the price. You certainly have a lot to learn about customer service and professionalism. If you should seek outside collection for payment without a signed contract, then I'll see you in court. I will also then counter sue, so I suggest that you make a wise choice. You have now made this more of a principle for me rather than the cost of the plans or what the cost of the landscaping. I will promptly return your plans to you and will seek another company to draw the plans and complete our landscape project.
