    "A place to belong"
    Roger T.

I must say this is a great Church! Not only are the people so friendly and full of love but God is doing amazing things through this Church. You feel welcomed right as you come in. They have groups for all ages a Youth Group, kids, etc plenty of parking both public and private to top it off the teaching is great. The Pastor encourages everyone to come as you are and that no one is perfect. He says "allow God to take the limits off of your life." It is such a great experience when attending Church there, you feel peace and you feel blessed! I would personally like to invite you out on a Wednesday or Sunday. I definitely call this my home Church now, for as long as The Lord would like me there. "Wherever God needs me to be." I hope this helps, God Bless! ~Da Critic

Easter is when Christians around the world celebrate the Lord's grace and the miracle of His resurrection. Jesus was humiliated, bruised, and beaten for us. It is through this selfless act of love that we are redeemed. THAT is what I wanted to hear about on Easter Sunday that didn't happen. I wanted the whole service to be about the resurrection. Instead I just heard about the ship that blocked the Suez Canal, Derek Chauvin, and Asians not being safe walking down the street (?). The Easter story is the centerpiece of our faith.

Before I started going to New Life I was unsure about going to church because the other churches i went to I disliked the pressure of how "preachy" members of church can be to new comers or if they would ever be welcoming. i tried out a lot of other churches before and i never connected. New Life is a great church. I love all the members and service at this church. The worship is great, the sermons are bible based and you can easily relate them to current events; never dull or boring. Sunday mornings there is always a happy face to great you, and the members of the church genuinely care. New life the members are not overbearing they are welcoming and there is a strong fellowship and love of the Word. New life has a strong children's ministry, their are many kids events, youth groups, Vacation Bible school, and Sunday school for all ages. I really like that all the children's ministry volunteers are background checked and CPR/First aid certified so you have the security of knowing your kids are in good hands. I really enjoy the twice a year Tea Socials for the ladies. Also there is a Hispanic bible study that I hear is really good. Recently a New Pastor has started and he engaging, sincere, approachable, and is strong in the teaching of the Word. This is a great church for people that are new to the faith, or that want to learn more. I really enjoy the Thursday night bible study. The leaders explain the bible but also want your point of view and your question. Everyone matters at New Life. They say it and they live it. I believe its worth giving New Life a chance!!

Burlingame Presbyterian Church is a wonderful Christ centered and welcoming place of worship. How…read moredid I start regularly attending "Burlpres"? During the pandemic, my wife and could not attend church services in person, and when things did relax, I had a series of medical issues that kept me out of the pews. During that time, my wife started following a couple of online Sunday services including the worship music and sermons broadcast from Burlpres. The staff prayed for me when I had a couple of surgeries. Their genuine caring was comforting. My wife and I were still enjoying the online services when a staff member invited me to attend Burlpres' start-up cancer survivor group in September 2023. I made several new friends at the group's meetings. My wife and I attended holiday services a couple of months later then decided to become regular Burlpres churchgoers. It's been great worshipping there for the past year. What makes Burlpres a great worship experience? The services bring heaven and earth and all people together in a weekly renewal of faith. Lead pastor, Rev. Graham Baird, leads most services. He is assisted by Rev. Jan Armstrong, and Rev. Elizabeth Frykberg. Their messages are thoughtful, uplifting and inspirational. Director of Worship Steven Hall's worship team is second to none. You cannot just listen to his worship team; you'll want to join in the singing. Burlpres is a small church that strives to make an impact wherever those in need of help may be found. Last fall, Rev. Graham visited a Christian church in Pakistan to bring donations and preach in support of young women forced into arranged marriages. This past week, Burlpres sent hundreds of pounds of clothing and funds to help victims of the Eaton wildfire in SoCal near La Canada. If you're new to San Mateo peninsula area and are looking to reconnect with God or start your personal spiritual journey, Burlpres is a good place to start. (The fresh scones in the lobby between services are delicious.)

Children's Service had nothing for children- weird 3D glasses & stickers, along with the pastors daughter being the center of attention as ALL the other children involved in the nativity scene remained outside. I left after the pastor decided to rant about HIS daughter and her prestige riding skills... it was like watching pure narcissism. And there was a rant about how expensive & hard it is to live here... ummmmmmmm I don't come to church to discuss Bay Area 1st world problems... it felt like this whole sermon was focused on ALL the wrong things. The petting zoo was nice... but how could that be the lesson for our children?? Seemed like a lot of it was just about getting money and seeming rich or something... very uncomfortable I for one HAD to leave. I regret going and decided to go for a walk downtown as my daughter stayed with family EVERY year- children have been the focus and brought in SO many new families. Children have sung songs, put on plays, and even read scripture- allowing for children watching to love it along with their parents. This year was dry, and only about the pastor... SO WEIRD I will NOT be returning to this church and I highly suggest looking elsewhere for children's sermons. This is NOTthe church I grew up in.

By beautiful, I mean the interior and exterior of the church, the warm and welcoming members and inspiring sermons. The church welcomes people of all ages, and welcomes EVERYONE. During service, children are welcome to sit with their parents on the pew in the main church, or a designated area in the chapel. It is very children friendly. Two childcare persons are there to supervise the children. To me, the best part of this church is the music - a choir of 30 members led by Music Director Dr. Susan Jane Matthews. The choir had been invited to England to do the summer residency three times in the past - Gloucester Cathedral (2017), Wells Cathedral (2022) and Lincoln Cathedral (2025). I don't think there is another church in the peninsula area with such beautiful music. There is also a Choir School for children. They have a music FaceBook page - Music at St. Paul's, Burlingame.

Despite that part of the 11 o'clock service was in Tongan. The parking lot is quite small so unless you early you have to get street parking. There are plenty of stores and restaurants within a five minute walk.

This is a church I'd have once given a good review for its commitment to preaching from and expositing God's word - in fact, I thought I did so. I started attending as a new Christian about 7 years ago, becoming a member soon after. I left in April this year. Though the word may be preached, there are serious flaws a prospective congregant should know about. In my time there, the largest board of elders consisted of 2 men, including the pastor. This is admittedly a challenge for small churches, but sadly I saw how a prolonged period of too few elders can play out practically. In essence, there's a concentration of power and a lack of checks. Accountability of leadship is, to me, the most glaring concern. I'll leave it at that in an effort to caution prospective congregants but also not get my post deleted. The remaining church body is in my regular prayers, but it's no longer a church I can recommend.
