I am a Catholic at heart, and I've seen good and bad through my lifetime. Christ Central certainly touched my heart, and I hope that you guys continue to touch a lot of other hearts. During this pandemic, I lost my Job and my home. Not many people have compassion for others that are below the . I've been misunderstood judged while my stay at Lifemoves in San Mateo. however, the smallest detail made my morning and I thought I should come on here and recognized Christ Central, you guys rock not only because your team gave us a hot meal. Your team put A LOT OF LOVE IN THIS PLATE! It's all in the detail. Thank you for making those mini pancakes carefully packaged with fruit, eggs, and sausage. The utensil bag was my favorite, in it there was a small English in Spanish note with a Bible verse, which I thought it was the work of art, it's beautiful well-crafted. Thank you again for looking out over strangers and crafting something beautiful. Again, it wasn't poorly packaged and thrown for the homeless.. since I've been here I've have seen very little compassion for others. I appreciate and love you guys. This is the perfect church! Well, no, that would be a lie, but it is my church, and I love it. I have been faithfully attending and serving at this church for close to 30 years, since a freshman in college, and have seen it grow from a small college group to a college-dominated English Ministry of a Korean Church, to what it is now, a vibrant, growing church that is made up of most lifestages (infants, children, college, post-grad, young working adults, no-so young working adults, married couples, and families). Christ Central Presbyterian Church (aka CCPC) is an independent church (particularized May 2014). CCPC is a member of the KAPC (Korean American Presbyterian Church) denomination. I'm one of the four ordained elders at Christ Central, and I would recommend my church to you whether you are someone seeking after Christ, or someone looking for a spiritual home to grow. This is what you should expect: Service starts at 9:50 am (and we start on time), so come a little early (9:30) so you can grab a close parking spot. Parking is probably the least desirable part of coming to church. Warning! Do you park in the lower lot. Occasionally, someone will park down there, and Korean church double parks, so you will get stuck for a couple of hours. Take in the view of the Pacific Ocean from the parking lot. It is unparalleled, especially on a clear day. When you enter the church, you'll receive a program and be welcomed. If you are new, someone from the Newcomer Team, will take your essential info, and answer any questions you might have. You'll be guided to an open seat, welcomed with friendly faces and greetings. At 9:50, we begin worship with a Call to Worship, and we respond with participatory praise music/singing. Next is a time of reflection and repentance (because we acknowledge our sin and need for God's grace), and then an Assurance of Pardon (to remember the work of Christ that redeems us). Afterwards, we have offering, prayer, children's message, scripture, and the Word of God! Worship is a wonderful journey that is a back and forth between God and His people. Another note: If you have kids, please bring them into the worship service, and after the Children's Message, they will be escorted to their respective age-based classrooms. Parents can walk their kids down the first time, and can ask questions about our Children's Ministry while doing so. Infants? You can bring them into the main sanctuary of course, but if you some privacy/quiet needs, there is a cry room directly behind the sanctuary with a bathroom in it. The sermon (with volume) is broadcast there, and you can also open the blinds to see directly into the sanctuary when you no longer need the privacy. After some short announcements, you are guided to a free meal (usually hot "kook bap" soup), provided by our heritage church, Korean Central Presbyterian Church, in the fellowship hall, while the Korean-speaking congregation comes in to prepare for their worship. You hang out, meet people, and usually are done at 12:00 pm. There are post-lunch activities depending on your lifestage, so if you want to hangout longer, you can to meet more folks. Beyond Sunday, the church is based around mid-week Community/Small Groups, and you will only really experience what our church is like if you join one. The congregation is in the 200-250 range with a great nursery/children's program/youth group. The church is small enough where our staff is accessible. If you want to, you can meet, and get to know the pastors and elders. The church is led by Senior Pastor Ben Kim and Pastor In Kim. The staff is wonderful, the servant leadership is dedicated, and we try very hard to "Love God" and "Love People" (our 2015 motto). If you've been to CCPC when it was KCPC English Ministry, I think you'll see that we have kept what is good, and have changed much of what needed improving. We're by no means perfect, but strive to glorify God by equipping the saints and preaching the Good News. CCPC is known for its reform theology, biblical teaching, Christ-centered community groups, heartfelt rockin' praise/worship, Presbyterian organization, and free lunch. I've been attending Christ Central for about 3 years now. After moving back to the Bay Area from San Diego, I was looking for a Presbyterian reformed church and I found that as well as a great community, wonderful leaders, and many opportunities to serve in CCPC. I am now involved in a few ministries and what really got me plugged into the church was community groups. Meeting new people building relationships through community group really helped me feel comfortable and pushed me to serve in other capacities. It allowed me to have a family of believers who support me, pray for me and love me. I am also a teacher in the children's ministry. I've been a teacher for 2 years and it has been such a blessing and a wonderful experience. The ministry is growing and new families are coming all the time and one of the reasons they stay is because of CM. It is a great opportunity to serve and teach kids! The church offers so many different groups/ministries where you can meet people in the same life stage as yourself. Christ Central Presbyterian Church is a great place for worship, a great place for community, and a great place for fellowship! We have been coming to this church for the past 8 years. CCPC offers so much for our family of 4. Our boys love fellowshipping with other kids their age (8 and 5) and the Sunday School has dedicated enthusiastic teachers with gracious hearts. There have been numerous annual and semi annual retreats (men, women, and family) that have been memorable family trips to nearby locations. Each week, we get to participate in service on Sundays at 950am. There is a dedicated children's prayer before Sunday school where the Pastors connect with a kids only message. There are over 12 community groups in the bay area where we get to discuss the message and focus on how we can apply the message in our lives and examples. If you are looking for a church in the Bay Area with easy access to San Francisco (located just 3 miles south) and a mix of families, young adults, college students, and youth members, this church may be for you. "One Good Pastor I Know" (1 Timothy 3:1-10) by Joseph Y. Lee I know many of you have known a lousy pastor who has sold many church offices to other non-Christians by making them deacons, elders or Bible study leaders. I have known many pastors who have tried to make my non-Christian father a deacon or Bible study leader. One pastor has called me a fanatic when I have told him that it is un-Biblical to make a non-Christian a Bible study leader or deacon. Even though he has called me a fanatic, he is the only pastor in Korea on my family side who has came to my wedding while all of the other pastors who have preached correct doctrine have not shown up in my wedding. My wife and I are both Christian. I never have mentioned about this hurt because I am so happy that I am married to the most beautiful Korean Christian wife who loves me for my character and understanding in the Bible. I also have not mentioned this hurt because I do not want my non-Christian family follow the false teaching from a non-Christian pastor who does not fear an angry and wrathful God who hates sin. Not every pastor is perfect, and the sad reality is that many non-Christian pastors are more perfect than the Christian pastors. Even though many non-Christian pastors can demonstrate more love and understanding compared to a Christian pastor, it does not mean that we should follow their wrong doctrines and false teachings in the Bible especially when a non-believing pastor has tried to make my non-Christian father a Bible study leader or deacon in the church. We have to reject those false teachers even though they understand 1 Corinthians 13 more than the average Christian pastor who knows and preaches the truth. I know too many false teachers who have tried to make my non-Christian family deacons or Bible study leaders. My younger brother is not saved, and he has told my mother that someone has offered to make him a deacon in his church. To make it horribly worse, I know the pastor in my brother's church. The pastor in my brother's church has served in missions at Japan with me while I have been living in Korea. I have confronted this pastor whom I love. I have told him that I have wanted to know the truth. I have asked him whether my younger brother is lying because my younger brother has identified him at the church. He has just told me that I should talk to the head pastor in church and has offered no explanation. I am still in the dark. I do not know the entire story. Many of you have probably had many similar stories of my hurt where you are kept in the dark when you know a non-believing deacon or Bible study leader in the church. You probably have confronted the pastor, but the pastor has given you an answer such as "the deacon is really a Christian even though he has sex with a prostitute" or "the deacon will someday become a Christian. Please give him some time." Many false teachers make many excuses to justify their sin or rebellion against God. However, there is one good Korean Reformed Presbyterian pastor who has not justified his sin. This pastor is probably one of my best friends. When my non-Christian brother is getting married to my sister-in-law who happens to be a Christian, my non-Christian father has asked me to ask my pastor in Northern California to sanction (approve) the marriage between my younger brother and sister-in-law. I have told my pastor in Northern California to preside in my younger brother's wedding when my non-Christian family has pressured me into it. I somehow have buckled by doing what my non-Christian family has wanted me to do. When I have asked my pastor in Northern California to preside in my younger brother's wedding, he has basically declined to be in the wedding because he cannot consciously preside in a wedding between a non-believer and believer in the wedding. I somehow panicked. I have sent tons of e-mails to my pastor in Northern California who happens to be one of my best friends. I have begged him to preside my younger brother's wedding since my non-Christian family may have threatened not to go to his church if he has refused to preside in the wedding. Despite my pleas, he has risked ending our friendship for the sake of the gospel. My non-Christian family never forgave him. Despite our hurts, it is my prayer that you find a pastor who is not a friend of the world. (James 4:4) Please find a pastor like my best friend in Northern California. By the way, he is still my hero besides our Lord Jesus Christ. Yes, there are many good pastors who do risk their careers, friends, finances, and lives for the sake of the gospel. If you go and try to look for them, you can find a pastor who fears God and can love you as his sheep. read more
