When I returned the owner (a woman in her 50-60's) full out accosted me and demanded I pay her $10 for use of their property. I thought it was a park I had stopped at and I apologized, but she wasn't having it. She kept yelling, how could I possibly think this is a park!? I paid her to get her to leave me alone and she continued to berate me. I finally had to say, "I paid the $10, can you leave me alone now!?" The answer was no. I was honestly sorry I was trespassing and apologized, then paid. What more do you want from me? She's a first class jerk. Avoid this place like the plague. It gets even better. I posted this review while still sitting there. The lady apparently saw this and stormed out and started yelling at me again. She demanded my ID and told me she was going to call the police if I didn't remove the review. I told her that, no, I would not give her my ID and I also would not remove the review. I told her she is welcome to the call the police, I'm not breaking the law. She told me I'm trespassing. I then reminded her that I paid $10 for the privilege of sitting here and being berated. She said, "I'll give you the $10 back." She also pointed out that I don't have a license for my canoe. Later I looked this up and apparently you do actually need a license for a canoe so I guess I was breaking the law. I'm a bad ass. At this point her husband came out. He was initially confrontational but he quickly calmed down and helped calm down his wife. At this point I was packing anyway and just wanted to get the hell out of there. I never got my $10 back :)

I love this lake and park…read more. Our church has been coming here for their annual picnic/baptism ceremony, the past several years.. I have been along the past three years and have really enjoyed hanging out here each time. The park is beautiful and maintained very well, the amenties are generous for being a public park. there is a small charge of course, but it is worth it. The beach is clean, the lake is beautiful, and the swimming area is very safe, albeit a bit shallow, but great for toddlers and pre-teens to play and cool off on a hot summer day. Hungry?? the field house offers snacks and light food, such as hot dogs, chips, soda, ice cream. Or, you can bring along a BBQ grill or use the grills provided and whip up something you toted along. Grab a spot by one of the many picnic tables and relax. There are some real nice walking paths for those of you that enjoy soaking up nature and hiking thru the prairie. Great place to snap some nature pics or give the kids a nature tour. I would give this place five stars if they put the volleyball nets back up.. but that is just me just feeling a bit disappointed we were unable to play beach volleyball..

Coming from both directions on Route 12 it is just around a curve so it can come up quick, but there is a nice big sign you can't miss. The parking lot isn't huge, but has space for cars as well as trailers and seemed to have been paved fairly recently. Past the parking lot there is a gravel road you can use to access the canoe launch. The facility has bathroom (outhouse), a picnic shelter, a fishing area with a fire pit, and the canoe launch. There is a nice paved trail that you can walk to get to the fishing area. I was very impressed with how well maintained the area was.

Jones Island Park is a well kept park full of shade trees, a playground, walking trail with benches, a shelter house, a sand volleyball court...and a beach. It's small, we'll-maintained, the swim area is marked off, the water is warm, the littles can stand, and there are no flies!!! Not quite the view of the Great Lake, but still a beautiful setting. Swim in the lake area. Fish in the canal. Relax beneath a shade tree. A little bit of something here to keep the young and the old content for a very long while!!! Annnnnd, unlike the rest of the local park/beaches....it's free!!!
