Beef Birria Ramen
Adam B.

A welcome quesabirria-centric food truck with lots of interesting birria menu items. I am still a bit confused about how an order of quesabirria and Mexican coke cost me over $25, since there was just a credit card tap and no receipt. Even with the sticker shock, it was delish! Quesabirria Beef Tacos with Consomé: I'm so happy that quesabirria is trending so you no longer have to hunt it down in a garage restaurant in the 'burbs! Theirs were particularly plump, with lots of cheese and tender beef. In addition to wetting it in the savory consomé, there was a nice spicy sauce to dip in post-consomé. It kinda reminded me of those super indulgent places that have a creamy spicy sauce for your already cheesy quesadilla. The well placed raw veggies, cucumber and radish, were a refreshing way to cleanse the palate between quesabirria bites. Very satisfying lunch by the office. Beef Birria Ramen: I've seen this dish hyped up on TikTok from other restaurants around the world. On a chilly and almost rainy lunchtime, felt like the perfect opportunity to try it. It was blazing red like a Nongshim ramen, but not that spicy surprisingly. Loved all the consomé flavor in the broth. A decent amount of beef, though could have stood to have more. Ramen noodles were fine, kinda like the instant stuff you'd get at the grocery store. Lilo Pizza: Not always posted on the menu, but they seem happy to make one if you ask. It's essentially a huge quesadilla stuffed with cheese and lots of yummy birria. It is pizza-like since it's topped with creamy sauce, guacamole, onions and radish. Plus comes with consomé for dipping. Quite a good bargain nowadays in San Francisco for $20. This could seriously be 3 meals for me! Taste was nice because cheese and birria. The radish rounds tended to fall off when you dipped into the consomé, but they were a nice chaser. Overall though, I kinda like the crunch of the tacos more, but this is yummy too.

We tried this food truck at the Foster City Sunner Days 2023 festival. We heard about this food truck from other reviews and it was worth it. Expensive, but they are generous with the side stuff they give. Not healthy, but DELICIOUS. Our tacos had more cheese than the cheese pizza from Domino's. And tasted better too. I would recommend the super tacos.

Beef quesabirria tacos 3 for $17

Whatever you do, don't get the beef birria ramen $16 -- the noodles taste worse than top ramen, tasted like mushy paste when you chew them. We also got beef quesabirria tacos 3 for $17, which were okay -- mostly cheese without a lot of meat.

3 Birria tacos w/ consumme, $16

Found them parked at SFO, next to Terminal 1. There was a long line, which seemed like a good sign. Once they took our order, it was available quickly. Birria tacos with consumme. Tasty, delicious, very visually appealing. Chicken burrito. Very generous quantity. It weighed like 2 lbs! But boyfriend didn't like the distribution... he said all the guacamole was all bunched up in one place. Suggest he order the torta next time.

Love this family owned business! It's located across a shopping center so you can easily find parking in there. We got the quesabirria and super tacos and both were delicious. the consome was flavorful but not too salty and perfect for dipping the tacos in. the salsa was soooo spicy too. super tacos fell apart a little since it was just one tortilla and it's loaded! definitely will be back to get more tacos or trying their fries!

What can I say?! I can't believe I've never had Birria Tacos until I've tried Lilo's Kitchen. Smh. I've been missing out. I love the extra cheese that they have in each tacos. It's filled with so much goodies. You'll have to try yourself to know what's up. The dip into the sauce was so bomb. When I finished all the tacos I drank the rest of the soup/sauce. Definitely will need to try again! Thanks for an amazing feast L . Loving that Latina Heat in every bite. Until next time. - T

This lady closing her food truck because she was so mad.

I can't explain how shocked and upset I am about this. Hopefully the owner gets to see this or the chef. I'm sorry I was not able to taste your food. This is what happened and I hope it doesn't happen to you or don't be lazy and not write the review but literally this ladie got so upset she closed her food truck. I ordered 2 orders of 3 quesadilla tacos and consommé that comes with it. My friend told me this was a good place so I decided to happily try it. Lady in the pictures gave me my food. I asked if can get hot sauce, I was a little confused because everything was left out suck as cilantro, onion, lemon ect. I wanted to grab some things because it was to go and she told me everything was in the bag. Of course I trusted her to have everything on my To go order. Keep in mind that she is taking my order even though she is having a private event. I went to sit in a picnic table at Washington park Burlingame. They forgot lemons and my tortillas were not fully cooked. I showed them to her that they were not even hot and how easy it was to bent even though they were made. Lady in black didn't offer to give me lemons or to cook the tortilla more. Before I said anything she wanted to give me a refund. This lady didn't care about her customers being around listening or how she was acting.Didn't want to fix it or anything. This lady gave me my refund. She simply got off the register and started to close the food truck. I'm a general manager and I never seen or heard anyone talk to a customer this way. After she did my refund I asked her what was my total and I looked at my transaction on my phone and it was 40 dollars for 2 orders which I had no idea how much they were. I wanted to try them and I was hungry. Price didn't matter. Please don't get taken advantage of this price because it's birria tacos. The way this lady talked to me all around customer service was in my 30 years of living was the worst!

Quesobirria

I've driven past this place so many times, I finally gave in. I know they are known for quesobirria, but as good as that sounds, all my experiences have left me disappointed. It always sounds way better than it taste, but never excuted well. I considered getting a burrito or just super tacos because of the pat experiences other places, but the girl at the counter suggested I give them a shot. Glad I did because they were stuffed full of meat, lots of cheese, great consume which wasn't over salted, and not overly greesy. I enjoyed every last bite out of it and would definitely go back again. I am a bit curious about their other options, so I may opt for something new next time. Unfortunately I didn't arrive early enough for the chamoy candy, those were sold out.

Birria Tacos!

With the popularity of Birria Tacos growing, my curiosity grows as well. I have been doing a mini Birria tour trying out the best local spots offering this delicious treat so this was next on my list. Parking was pretty easy as I just parked in the shopping center across the street. Street parking was limited. The blue truck was easy to spot. I he lady who helped me was very friendly. I was happy to find out this was very close and local, as well as women owned! I wish they accepted Apple Pay but they did mention they were working on it. My order: Birria Tacos 8/10. I ordered 1 ordere which came with 4 tacos, thr consome, the cilantro/onions, and a side of the orange sauce. Tacos were warm, crispy and thr Birria was juicy not dry, and well seasoned. The consome wasn't too oily and was a perfect compliment for tender meat and crunch of the tacos. I enjoyed the orange sauce was a nice kick of heat and the icing on the cake. I lol. Forward to trying more offerings!

I really wish they had a dine-in space so we could enjoy everything fresh. They're takeout only and parking can be a bit tricky, so I'd recommend ordering online and expect to wait a bit. Unfortunately, the pickup experience was disappointing this time. Both the website and text confirmation said we'd receive an order update, but we never got one. We were trying to time pickup with our baby in the car, and when my husband went to check, they told him our food had already been ready for a while. By the time we got home, we had to microwave everything. With the longer wait times, reliable ready notifications would make a big difference. I love the food, but the pickup experience is what brings this visit to three stars. I'd still give them another try and hope the updates improve.

Unfortunately, we ended up waiting an hour and 45 minutes for our food. The issue was not with the app or the delivery driver -- it was with Pancho Villa. After waiting approximately 50 minutes, I wanted to cancel the order, but I was informed that if I canceled, Pancho Villa would not refund my money. At that point, I would have had to forfeit nearly $70 that I had already spent. In this economy, who can afford to lose almost $70 and still not receive their food? My driver was incredibly kind and helpful. He connected me with Pancho Villa because they were not answering their phone. We were told that they were short-staffed because three employees had called out sick. I completely understand that unexpected staffing issues happen, However, if a restaurant knows that they are short-staffed and cannot fulfill orders in a reasonable amount of time, they should not continue accepting third-party delivery orders. Customers should not be left waiting for nearly two hours with no reasonable option to cancel and receive a refund. We were left hungry, frustrated, and feeling like our money was essentially being held hostage because canceling the order meant losing our $70. I hope Pancho Villa will take this as an opportunity to reconsider how they handle third-party orders when they are understaffed. Customers deserve transparency, reasonable wait times, and, most importantly, a fair option to receive a refund when a restaurant is unable to fulfill an order within the promised timeframe.

Tacos don't get much better than this! Two others and I decided to embark on a taco trot through downtown San Mateo's taquerias to uncover the pinnacle of street taco perfection. We only judged the tacos and not any other amenities of the taqueria. We ventured from one taqueria to the next, leaving no stone unturned to find the ultimate street-style taco. Each of us had a distinct mission: one to evaluate carne asada, myself al pastor, and the third pollo tacos. Our rating system spanned meat, salsa, tortilla, overall quality, and value. We sampled our way through all nine downtown taquerias (excluding food trucks, grocery stores, and pupuserias). After tallying the scores, we reached a unanimous consensus on the top four contenders. These taquerias stood out for their commitment to delivering unparalleled street tacos. These are the only places in downtown to which we'd return: Charlie's, Los Primos #1, Al Vapor Nueva Italia, and Pancho Villa.
