My Children have been going to Lil' Red Barn Academy for 3 years now. They now have a hard working and loving staff that has been there for sometime. My youngest is set to go to Kindergarten in the fall and she is so smart and kind, the Lil' Red Barn Academy staff has helped her get to this point. I worked here for almost a year and I would warn any parent from bringing their child here. The owner of this daycare does not care about his employees and does not care about the children under the staffs care. The staff is severely under paid and under trained. There are older children that are restrained in high chairs, children are yelled at and there is very little gentle teaching. The staff receives almost no training and is in no way capable of taking care of children. The owner is extremely rude and threatening to staff. The turnover rate is exceptionally high for a reason. Please take great caution in bringing your children here or thinking about being employed at this daycare. read more

All of these reviews are mad parents. Their kids got kicked out for behavior issues. I used to work there and the staff is great! The director loves her job, and the kids have a blast! Very consistent and they have routine. Great place! All the kids are happy and love their teachers! read more

Wouldn't even give a star if it gave me a choice! Went to check out this daycare since it was a close to my home so was happy about that when I came in I felt very unwelcomed, the director I think her name was Danielle? was doing her hair and makeup very unprofessional in my opinion!! They were all talking about going to a concert later that day! She gave me a book about the daycare and that was about it.. she made me feel like I was bugging her in her day.. I went on the website later that day and seen only bad reviews about this daycare maybe they need a new director who can actually run a daycare and the boss should be more involved!! I will be looking for a different daycare for my kids at least a place I feel welcome walking into! read more

Horrible daycare! The staff are always on their cell phone the director Danielle sits in the office and talks on her personal phone! She always has a attitude! when you ask a question she looks at you like your stupid! I don't even know her and she made it a very unhappy place! They need all new staff!! A few nice teachers, director is horrible at her job, does not keep you updated. My family was told they can no longer attend for behavior problems that I was never told of, that was so serious they had to leave.no written documentation to support any of this. I wonder if the owner even knows she kicks kids out for no good reason. Two full time spots now open if you dare. read more

The reason this place keeps getting terrible ratings is because the management is non-existent. The owner only shows up to buy food and collect your pay. The rest of the time it's left in chaos and unstructured. He's hands off and if any concerns are brought to his attention it is followed up by excuses and no change. The staff is constantly changing which is terrible for the children to not see consistency or be able to bond with any of the teachers since they keep leaving. Makes you wonder why no one stays long term. I will be looking for a place where the owner shows care for what's most important in a daycare, children, not pay. read more

Had an appointment for a tour, rearranged my morning to go. When I got there nobody answered the door for 8 minutes. Then when someone finally answered the door I was told to come back later. Not very professional considering I had an appointment. NOT IMPRESSED! AND while I was waiting I walked to the side of the building where I can see children playing on the playground, there were two adults sitting on a tire. One of the adults kept shouting at a little girl in an mean discouraging voice. Not once did the daycare workers get up. They would shout at the kids from sitting down. Never heard any positive reinforcement. Felt bad for the little girl. read more

It's sad to see such a small little cute daycare get such bad reviews over one person.. I came in to check it out, because I was looking for a daycare for my 3 year old I checked yelp first and was sad to see all the bad reviews, but I said I'll still go check it out since it was so close to are home on ocean beach! Well I will I didn't waste my time going on a tour to this daycare! A lady named Danielle helped me showed me around which all the kids were in one room which I felt was a little much for only couple teachers!! But Danielle gave me a book and kinda rushed thru everything I felt like maybe I was taking up her day or she just wasn't interested in showing me anything, we carried on I was telling her I have a 3 year etc she seemed like she could care less! Just seemed like she was pissed off the whole time! I Could tell she just hated her job! Made me just upset that they have a worker who is the director!!! Running this place! This daycare could be such an amazing daycare if they brought a new director in! And with theses reviews it seems like Danielle just isn't made to run a daycare or any type of business seems like she just isn't one for customers! After talking to her and the teachers the owners aren't very involved, he only stops in here and there... how sad!! I strongly believe the owners need to step up and listen to what the public is saying and let her go and find someone new to run this daycare!! I definitely do not recommend this child care facility. The employees do not show any love or compassion towards the children. They are constantly on their cell phones and yell at the children if they feel they are getting in the way. My son who is four came home a few nights ago with bruises on his arm which happen to look like finger prints. I asked him how he got the bruises and his response was my teacher dragged me into the corner and told me to stay until I'm a good boy. I then went to the school and talked to the head teacher and she said she did not recall any of this. I believe my son! Why would a four year old make up a story to this extreme?!?!
