The Meridian at The Lighthouse Inn in West Dennis has been reimagined, and by the look of things, the locals, including me, seem pleased. This was our third time here for supper. My first two experiences were great: great service, pleasant staff, good food, and a fun vibe overlooking Nantucket Sound. We arrived tonight without a reservation and expected to be turned away, but instead we were seated by the windows overlooking the Sound. The hostess staff were especially pleasant and accommodating. We started with a cocktail and a mocktail, and both were excellent. It took an unusually long time for them to arrive, but our waiter brought two warm, crusty dinner rolls and butter in the meantime. We ordered the salmon stuffed with feta and spinach, accompanied by quinoa and fresh, al dente summer vegetables. Everything on the plate was, we thought, perfect. Our second entrée was the baked, stuffed lobster. The waiter initially brought us a steamed lobster, then told us he had made an ordering mistake and would be back with the baked lobster. It took a while. We ordered a second round of drinks, which were every bit as good as the first. The lobster finally arrived just as we were finishing the salmon. The disruption in the cadence of the meal was unpleasant. I ate the lobster tail and the stuffing. Unfortunately, the stuffing wasn't hot. It contained plenty of whole scallops and a few whole shrimp; some of the scallops were hot out of the pan, while others were room temperature, as were the shrimp. The lobster meat itself was room temperature as well. In fact, the entire lobster was barely warm. It also appeared to be essentially the same steamed lobster the waiter had initially brought out, subsequently dressed with the stuffing. It was a big disappointment. The waiter was friendly and pleasant, but he wasn't particularly attentive. The service was noticeably different from our first two visits, when our servers were terrific. Still, we enjoyed the drinks, the beautiful views, and the happy, lively vibe. The Meridian is clearly doing something right, and we locals seem to be embracing it. read more

I recently stayed in cottage 28 for 4 nights. My sister was in room 60. We were visiting with our little children and so excited for the family friendly amenities advertised on the website. Unfortunately, this was without a doubt, the worst vacation we have ever had. The service was miserable and borderline negligent. - [ ] Given a cottage above the maintenance shed. Walked in and it immediately smelled like mold as if it hadn't been aired out in months - [ ] Wad of hair in the bathroom tub and filthy window sills called housekeeping and they didn't even clean the bathroom just removed the hair - [ ] Ac not working in living room. Handy man admits the cottage isn't insulated and installs a window air conditioner. Also admitted AC vents and filter needed to be cleaned and that was contributing to the smell - [ ] Dinner with little kids at the hotel restaurant took double the time, our waiter hardly visited our table. false advertisement on the menu about ice cream on the kids menu, so frustrated just left. - [ ] Next day, cleaning lady comes in while I'm putting my toddler down. Forgot the DND sign but I'm singing lullabies and I have a Shusher on and she's entered the cottage and starts banging on the closed bedroom door to come in...finally I had to ask her to leave and then our room was never serviced that day. We were out of our room all day except 12-2 so there is no excuse - [ ] After cleaning lady leaves the inn starts using a table saw in the work shed that is directly under our cottage. Toddler is back up. Why are we staying above an active maintenance shed. Pictures attached - [ ] Pool has food service...took an hour and a half to get a hot dog for one kid - [ ] Ceremony chairs were strewn all over the property even though there was no ceremony, everything felt very sloppy and unprepared - [ ] beach chairs left on the beach all day and all night, everything was rusty and slimed, glad we brought our own chairs. I called specifically to ask about beach chairs and umbrellas, and when we arrived there were just lie flat pool loungers covered in rust and no umbrellas - [ ] Some of the houses are very far away from parking lot making it really hard to unpack. They offered a bell hop service but he would only make one trip and all they could fit were 3 small bags. So we still had to drag all our stuff up hill across the property - [ ] Landscaping weed whacking and mowing lawn at 8am. Woke my husband up after already sleeping horribly from staff shouting in the shed under our cottage and the worst mattress we have ever had to sleep on - [ ] Housekeeping being forced to work in the rain with no cover or rain gear - [ ] There was no private beach. Beaches were so covered with seaweed they were unusable. Why were they not raked? One beach was used to launch sails boats so unless you wanted to sit in ankle deep seaweed you had to go to the public beach - [ ] Parking: we were told the parking is for restaurant guest and hotel guests have to park in a satellite lot. Not family friendly at all - [ ] Whole trip felt like a scam and a false advertisement Since then - [ ] Staff has been rude and disrespectful over email and I had to escalate to owner. One staff member mentioned my 7 year old niece said she enjoyed her stay so it couldn't be as bad as I was saying...since when does the opinion of a polite 7 year old matter more than all of the listed issues? - [ ] Owner promised refunds, free stays and refund on dinner and we have not received it. He has since stopped answering our messages attempting to understand when we will see a refund. read more

Lovely place right in the beach. 2 stars because the ONLY vegetarian options are salad (under light fare section) . FYI vegetarians get very tired of salad sometimes and there are more than just a few of us around (I'm 50+ years lacto-ovo). Had the Herb salad which was tasty but very skimpy on toppings. Even a few veggie side dish options would be great. Oh well. My husband loves a good fish sandwich & said his was average. Tuna Poke bowl good Server, Leah, was wonderful! BTW they just started live music outside on the beach. Great idea except there is nowhere to sit so BYO chairs and you might want to BYO drinks too because there are only 2 bartenders and the line is a mile long, easily 20 minute wait and then nowhere to even set your drink down (in bartenders defense, they're writing up orders on small phone devices and it seems to really slow them down--they really need at least 3 bartenders for this or eliminate frozen drinks. Was excited to try the Meridian restaurant at the Light House Inn in Dennisport. We have been coming here for years. It was disappointing when they closed but then the Pelham group reopened the property and restaurant. I've tried several times to make a reservation and no one ever picks up the phone. Left a message because no one answered and never got a return call. Not once but several times. So we decide to take a chance on a Sunday afternoon to have lunch with a beautiful view. The place looks great they did a nice job with the renovations. We ordered Lobster Bisque and it was delicious! I ordered the shrimp bowl which I don't know how you can get mushy shrimp. Tasted ok but the texture was nasty. The fish taco was ok but the guacamole was nasty and old tasting.it was delivered cold as well. So disappointing. The Meridain salad was wilted and the watermelon was old. We returned the salad and they did remove it from the bill. I don't think I will ever return for food but maybe a cocktail with a view. read more

Paid extra for a water view cottage they gave us a cottage way in the back with no view. My fiance is pregnant and considered High Risk and was extremely short of breath making the long hike from the parking lot to the cottage they gave us in the back. We explained all this when booking and to the manager and we were told "nothing we can do". No empathy no trying to help or accommodate. This was a simple weekend get away since we won't have any for a while. I would not recommend this place to my worst enemy read more

My friends and I had a reservation for 8:00 we arrived 5 minutes early. We didn't get sat till 8:56. ALMOST A HOUR. We made the reservation for 8:00 so we can watch the sunset and have some drinks. We didn't get sat till it was dark already. Little did we know waiting ABOUT AN HOUR just to sit down WITH A RESERVATION was just the start... We ordered drinks and our food as soon as we sat down because we were starving. Our server asked if we wanted bread and of course we said yes. We never got the bread it is about 9:45 now. WE WERE THERE FOR AN HOUR AND 45 MINUTES WITH NOT EVEN A PIECE OF BREAD. This where I talked to the manager. I was very polite and explained the situation. He said he had no clue that happened and WHEN THE BILL CAME HE WOULD MAKE THINGS RIGHT. If you're the manger you should know someone was there for an hour and 45 minutes with NOTHING. The bill came at the end of the night not a single this was touched and he didn't do anything. NOTHING. I was too frustrated to even go say anything I JUST WANTED TO GET OUT OF THAT HELL HOLE. Couldn't even give us a free fountain soda. So no the manger did not make anything right. I would also like to point out that the 2 tables next to us were also complaining a lot. I don't think I saw one happy customer there last night. I over heard 2 tables saying "I would never come back here". The food was very good but anything tastes good almost 2 hours after your reservation. I ordered the shrimp bowl and there were 3 shrimp and 3 little cups of rice. For the price it was there should be at least more than 3 shrimp. I don't want to put any blame on the server Morgan. She was great and the best. This is a clear manager issue. Sad to see the servers working hard and having to apologize to everybody when the manager was just doing nothing and not helping anything run smooth. With all that to be said the food and servers were great but everything else was just unacceptable and would NEVER COME BACK HERE. I really wanted to like this place! They have valet parking here, but no tickets are handed out to prove ownership of your cars. You could walk out with someone elses car and they'd have no way to prove it's not yours! When we made it to the hostess, we were seated early, and given outdoor seating as requested. The view of the beach was wonderful, though there was something else which ruined the outdoor seating for us. There was a large amount of seagulls flying around us, as per usual of a beach. The issue was that tourists from a tour bus who were staying in the hotel that night were constantly feeding the seagulls. This made them very aggressive, as multiple times throughout our meal, seagulls swooped down on other patron's tables and took food straight from their plates! To make this worse, the busboys were nowhere to be seen, so uneaten food laid out on empty tables for the seagulls to feed on. The tourists were eventually told to stop, but the damage had already been done. We had gotten a reservation late at night, the seagulls did fortunately go away once it got dark. Our appetizers came out very fast, but our entrees took well over 40 minutes. Half of our meals were warm, whilst the other dishes, (like the fish tacos which I ordered) were cold, likely from being made first and left out whilst the other dishes finished. The food was very average. On the contrary, our server, Clyde, was wonderful. He was doing amazing for how much he had to manage between the myriads of busy tables and aggressive seagulls! Overall, we may try this place again next year, as the beach view was gorgeous, though we hope the food will improve. read more

I recently had lunch at the newly renovated dining area. Although the picture perfect late July afternoon was not on the menu, it certainly added to the already iconic Cape Cod setting. The gracious hostess seated on the outside deck under a lovely umbrella. There were many great things from which to choose and the prices were refreshing. My friend and I chose the cod fish and chips. They were among the best I've ever had on the Cape. Lightly battered and locally fresh pleased our palates. The tartar sauce was apparently homemade and very delicious. We ended with a creamy and scrumptious key lime tart. Our server was friendly and we never felt pressured to leave. Beautiful views at an historic inn. It looks like it was once a lighthouse as well. If you are looking for that classic "Cape Cod" experience this is it. Ocean views, salty breezes with loads of sunshine. A great place to unwind and relax. Nice restaurant and bar located on premises in the main building. The interior reminds me exactly of what any older inn near the ocean would be. The interior of the building is dark wood paneling with plenty of maritime decorations. There are many cottages and houses that can be rented. A nice pool, tennis courts and bikes to rent. West Dennis Beach is very close by. I would not recommend trying to swim at the inn. I have never seen a less inviting beach. They also have function rooms that may suit a wedding. The staff is super friendly. The food at the Inn was delicious. Appetizer was a piece of Flatbread with cheese and bacon bits. I've done the same in a toaster oven for a fraction of the cost. I ordered the NY strip, glazed broccoli Rabe, and mashed red potatoes. The strip was raw, as was the broccoli rabe. The mashed potatoes were half way to soup. ​​ I set it back and got the same steak back 2 minutes later, still blue in the center and the broccoli still raw. We had the most incredible time here for a friend's wedding last weekend! It was absolutely incredible and we loved every second of it. There are so many cute cottages for couples to stay in. The entire wedding party stayed in the houses. The rooms are all quaint. One of the first houses we stayed in had a beautiful balcony outlook. We loved the bedroom suite- it was very spacious and clean. The cottage itself is lovely and perfect for a summer wedding. The Cape is perfect from May to September. The food, drinks were fantastic. Stayed at Lighthouse Inn for the last week of August. The place is old and feels it. We were in a Breezeway room which was clean & fairly comfortable. Two lounge chairs were ancient and sagged incredibly when you sat in them. Had to stuff folded beach towels under the cushion to avoid back strain. Had a little problem with spiders (is 4 in a week including 1 in the bed too many ?). Doors squeaked and the bathroom door wouldn't close it was so warped. Front door required a kick to open. Walls were so thin we could hear every word from the neighboring rooms. The pool area is very nice, has a decent snack / cocktail bar. The miniature golf is a joke, in terrible condition. There was a very nice tennis court we didn't use. Shuffleboard was quaint but couldn't find the supplies. No fault of the Inn, but the beach was horrifying. Covered with black, stinky, rotting seaweed and dead horseshoe crabs. Water was also full of seaweed. The smell was overwhelming and even penetrated into the rooms. The staff was very nice and very helpful. Most new our names within a couple days. Saw from some Trip Advisor reviews that the beach condition is common in the Dennis area. Even some of the staff confirmed it. Given that, would not return. Also, the Dennis area is REALLY CROWDED AND TOURISTY ! Sorry Lighthouse Inn. For almost $4k for a week, expected more. read more

We've been going to West Dennis beach since 2013 every year in August. We had always wondered what this place was like. I got excellent pricing during cyber Monday in 2020. We booked our usual week for the Cape. We had no idea what to expect. Zero stars. So first things first, I am disabled, and except for the dining room entry everything is stairs. So. Many. Stairs. 100 stars. All the staff were helpful and pleasant. I love that not only did the name tags have their names, but like cruise ships, they had their hometowns on them. The room was a perfect size for two people. We had a king bed, that was sunk in the middle. It took me two nights to realize that, and to sleep with an extra pillow under my hip. I'm healing well now, thank you. It was clean, and appropriately appointed. The only thing was missing was a microwave, and truth be told, I didn't really miss it. They have a door stopper for the bathroom door so it doesn't slam into the sink, my fat ass wasn't able to get past it without pushing it a little further. Every shower you for the shower curtain that was sticking to you. Are they ever give you four bath towels, we just got to. I need one for my hair and my body. And he needs one. An extra one never hurts.However, we did ask for an extra got it. This next part is going to be a one star issue. The stench, because of the jetties, and the accumulating seaweed, was horrendous, and it invaded the room via air conditioners. They had a young man raking the beach, but he was pushing the seaweed back into the ocean. And, if you love the beach, you know this is a bad thing! Five stars here!! The breakfast buffet was the best in town for the price. The beach stench was not prevalent in this area, so be assured that you can eat with confidence. So many choices, healthy and not. Food was fresh and you could order items on a limited menu in addition to the standard buffet fare. Hot and cold and plenty of juice choices. There was indoor and outdoor seating beachside. Ah-mazing. Inside is not air conditioned (it's a historic venue after all) but the breeze offered beautiful relief for hot/humid days. We had the buffet most mornings during our stay. We also had lunch there one day. We had the specials, Caprese Chicken sandwich with fries and BBQ Chicken Quesadilla. FUCK YEAH! Good. Unfortunately, we had to leave our vacation early due to a family emergency. Families, am I right? They reimbursed us for a one night stay. Honestly, that was a lot more than I expected.This was very appreciated! It's definitely a place geared towards families with children (dislike for me) but over all, it was pretty nice!! The Lighthouse Inn far exceeded our expectations for my son and daughter in law's dream wedding! We had 85 guests, many of which stayed on site in either the rooms at the Inn or in the darling cottages on the property. From planning to execution, the staff lead by Carri, Bill and Joe made the day perfect in every way. Joe and staff actually picked rose petals on the property for the flower girls baskets when the florist forgot them, 10 minutes before the ceremony! Over and above also when it came to quality of service. Professional, friendly and funny staff who helped take photos, tie flower girls ribbons and add humor to our day! The food was amazing from the rehearsal dinner to the actual wedding. Appetizers and cocktails were served throughout. The setting was STUNNING and the weather was PERFECT for their seaside, magical celebration. HIGHLY RECOMMEND! 5+ STARS! read more

We stayed for several nights midweek for a short family getaway. While the Cape pricing is expected to be inflated in the summer, I was left dissapointed - feeling that we paId a lot for what we received. We stayed in the Carriage House, which is on the edge of the property. The rooms were very clean, if small. Of the two room suite, the second room had no a/c or fan, which left it stuffy, even with the windows open. The bathroom needed updating but was servicable. Amenities were a tiny bottle of lotion, bar soap, and one tiny bottle of combination shampoo/conditioner. After two nights in the soft uncomfortable bed, we opted to drive home early. Of the private beach, two of the three sections were nearly unusable, being filled with several layers of decaying seaweed. At high tide it was...ok, but at low tide it was not great. (The odor was definitely offputting when trying to eat.) It was a bright spot to have access to a beach lounge chair and umbrella. The teens liked being able to roam the property, but they ran out of things to do pretty quickly. We had the best time at the firepit by the beach, enjoying cocktails and meeting other guests. We walked down the road to the nearby public beach each night - a perfect dusk stroll. The staff, particularly at the restaurant during breakfast and lunch were young and somewhat disorganized. Both mornings we had to wait about 15 minutes to be seated, because the staff was too busy to seat guests. The young hostess was a bit brusque and unwelcoming, but we chalked that up to her inexperience and perhaps being short staffed. Overall, the property seems good for families with young children (sheltered beach, playground and pool), but lacked the modern amenities and level of service you would expect for the price. We got our of our car to a horrible smell and almost left, but we carried on as sometimes the ocean smells, right? We were greeted and seated right away and our waitress was wonderful. We ordered clam chowder that was hot and tasty. When we got our dinner it was rather disappointing. My husband had a salad with a dozen shrimp that were grilled and tasteless and his salad had sour fruit. I ordered a southwest salad with lobster on top. The lobster for 25 dollars was filled with shells and maybe a 1/4 cup? We paid 109 and then added a tip as our waitress was a college kid and not responsible. This is a much overdue "atta-girl/boy" for the LHI. We (wife Sandy, nine grandchildren, three of our kids and close adults) celebrated my 80th at the Inn this past summer, for two days. Could have gone lots of places but this place is very close to me and chose it. Worked there beginning 60 years ago for 5 summers total and so know it, but didn't know what to expect after all that time. Suffice to say "over the top" in terms of location, service, food, friendliness, everything one would want. Hard to beat but even better than those 60 years ago-thank you Greg Stone and all your sibblings and their life companions and families. My sister got married at the Lighthouse Inn this weekend and we absolutely loved it. First off, it's straight out of a movie - very New England summer resort (think Dirty Dancing) for those of us who aren't local to the area. The ambiance is slightly vintage, rustic, comfortable, with classic upscale touches and all the accommodations you need. The beach area was exactly what we were looking for and made a great background for the ceremony. Bill helped my sister coordinate everything and was absolutely fantastic from start to finish. They were so accommodating on a very short schedule of planning. We are so grateful for him! Bridget was the attendant who served our dinner and drinks after the wedding and we all adored her. She was so kind, friendly, fun, personable, and helpful with the elderly guests that were part of our group. We had some guests in cabins and others in the rooms. If you're getting a cabin, be aware that the AC might not be as strong as you'd like - then again we were here during a heatwave so I'm sure on a normal MA summer day, it would be plenty. Stopped by for a quick drink and was not disappointed! Delicious mudslide and great service. Did not eat there but food looked great. Outdoor seating right by the ocean. Kid friendly as well. read more
