A few years ago they remodeled and while it looks completely different, it's still lovely in every way. We've brought our toddler here many times since he was born and the play area is perfect and so kid friendly. We also did an escape room with our 6 yo niece last week during the holidays and that was also fun. I found a ton of music here, too, growing up and just have the best memories at this library.

Beautiful modern courthouse. The Justice Center houses the courthouse as well as the county jail on…read morea well-kept part of town just west of Fareway. Walking up to the enterance doors, you see the scales of justice in marble stone. Upon entering, you can turn left or right. On the left side of the building is the County Jail entrance, and on the right side of the building is the Courthouse. Upstairs is where the clerk of court and other offices are. The inside is very well-kept and clean. The bathrooms are nice and located on the right side towards the courtrooms. A water fountain and elevator are also located on the first floor. The County Attorney's Office is around the corner on the right side at the end of the hall. You pass the 3 courtrooms and several conference rooms along the way. The courtrooms are intimate yet roomy. Upon entering the courtroom, the public may sit on either side of the aisle. The bailiff holds the door partition for you as you walk past the jury on the left and the attorneys' tables on the right. The court reporter and judge seats are ahead, and the witness stand sits to the right-hand side of the judge and behind the court reporter. Raise your right hand and tak3 a deep breath. Ames City Hall is pretty nice! They have a spot you can pay…read moreyour parking tickets, a Gym you can play hoops in! Or you could even see a show at Ames City Auditorium! I've gotten to play on that stage once opening for Jeff Mangum of Neutral Milk Hotel and I also got to see the Zombies perform there! Both were incredible experiences for sure! So glad they are starting to do shows there again soon! It's such a great theater!

We are four rocks away from the end of our journey at this time. Not only do we learn about the military involvement and the contributions of veterans in each county... A lot of times we stumble on other hidden gems, that we had no idea even existed, as we venture further into our own backyard. As happy as I am going to be when hit 99 and finish our Freedom Rock Tour...a little part of me is going to really miss these trips. We'll just have to find another "tour" to pick up! This is a very nice library and the mark of a very livable community. The collection and size of the building are appropriate for a city of the size of Story City, but they offer all of the amenities of larger libraries like Wifi access, computer terminals microfiche and common governmental forms. The majority of the collection is weighted toward leisure reading. The help was very friendly and engaging in assisting with any questions I may have.
