Wonderful place to look for treasures! I've been here many times but never got around to doing a review. This last visit I found so many gorgeous pieces that I figured it was time to do some writing. This place is huge so wear your comfy shoes and don't be in a hurry. The couple at the front desk are so friendly and welcoming. They check you out fast and efficient too! This is a great store full of fantastic treasures! Packed full of dealer booths and display cases I could spend the entire day here! Easy on and off the expressway, reasonable prices, and friendly staff makes this a leg stretching stop every time I pass through. We stopped by on an antique weekend in the area. First thing inside the door, they asked the ladies to check their purses in a locker they control or put in in our car. Obviously, the girls choose the car. Once inside, the help followed everyone in the store in which seemed like they were on patrol for shoplifters. Made us very uncomfortable! Lastly, my friend picked out 3 vintage lighters, which one of the "watchers" took to check out. When we got ready to leave, there were only 2. No one had any idea where the 3rd one ended up, but Mr. Watcher denied having 3 in the first place. With that, we walked out with nothing. The place was pricey, crowded and with the security overkill, I can guarantee that we will never go back there! We went across the street to their competition, were treated with respect, and we all spent money. read more

Was antiquing that day and decided to drive a little further, glad I did! Worth the I55 drive if your hitting the I55 run of stores! nice size. Helpful staff. prices were average (high/low). Luckily my booth I purchased offered layaway! Which was exactly what I needed.. Nice small gas station nearby with munchies so good stop before hitting the mall. read more

Maybe things have changed since many of these less than stellar reviews! We stopped by on our way from Michigan to Dallas. OK...they want you to leave your purse or bag up front. There's a sign to that effect before you get in the door. OK...a mall person came by a couple of times in the hour or so we were there to offer help - and perhaps to see that I wasn't shoplifting. But it wasn't done in an unfriendly way...and since I sometimes need help getting in a glass case, I don't mind. But this is a well-stocked, well-merchandised, eclectic, clean, well lit, comfortable antique mall with some unusual finds to be had. Prices seemed reasonable and the friendly front desk was more than happy to contact booth owners about discounting further than any standing discount or sale posting. We would stop by again. read more

Not sure about the store because we did not make it past the door. This store is in the middle of nowhere and they wanted me to lock my purse up in a locker in the entry of the building. No way! Seemed a bit sketchy...not sure how they make it when they offend at the door. read more

The staff is super friendly and very nice!! There is a very wide variety of items to find!

I am always intrigued when I see an antique mall perched by the interstate, but this one was a let down. Everything was a bit pricey and just kind of stuffed on the shelves. read more

It's fine. You know how these places are - if they have your stuff, great - if not, the place sucks. It can change from week to week. The place is fine / average. BUT, DO NOT think you will be in there one milisecond past closing time. Those old men turn into witches at the stroke of midnight! Also to note: don't discount the place across the road - Lisa's antique mall. It's shabby looking outside, but it's better and bigger than it looks from the highway. Some good merchandise and some not so good. Having to put my purse in a locker is bad enough, but the numerous signs warning shoplifters was a bit overboard. Considering they neglected to put one of my items in the bag, it appears the shoe could be on the other foot. read more

I disagree with the previous poster about this antique mall. While it wasn't the best antique mall I have ever visited, this place was chock full of merchandise...some run of the mill but some quite nice. I am a rather creative person and use old tins to create "found object" sculptures...there was a case in this place where you could purchase old tins of all shapes, sizes and colors for $5 apiece or 5 for $20!!!! I found some great buys on those. There were also some stunning colorful, old czech rhinestone brooches from the 30s/40s which were found in an old factory. These were priced between $50 and $70, but all were 30% off. They don't make 'em like that anymore and I am thrilled with the brooch I picked out for less than $50. Bottom line, this mall is a worthwhile stop if you're on the road and need to stretch your legs...I'll be back. The only downside I found was that they make you lock up your purse in a locker in the vestibule of the mall...I understand security, but felt this was rather harsh...I'm not a fan of the suspicious shopkeeper, but the good outweighed the bad here, so I'll put up with it. Next time I'll just leave my purse in the car!!!! read more

I went antiquing with a friend yesterday. We stopped in here. Had my eye on a stove cover made by the Wabash Screen Door Co. I'm guessing it was 36 x 36. It was $30. Thought I could clean up the wood and hang it on my wall. I was going to pick it up after I browsed through the store. Saw it again a few vendors down. Tag was off of it and a lady was by it. I asked her if she bought it and she said yes. I told her I was looking at it and thought it would look good on my wall. She said that's what she thought. So, we figured that's why she bought it. (We are now guessing she was standing back and listening to us) We continued to shop. My friend had stuff up front to buy and was going back to get a Van Briggle. Her total was about $150. I had one item in my hand to purchase and was going to ask for the key to purchase 2 more items. My total $200. Went by the item one more time and it now had a tag on it of $159. Couldn't believe it. My friend asked the woman if what she did she felt right about. She replied it was hers, she bought it. My friend told her she could have had the decency to at least wait until I was out of the store to mark it up. She actually worked there and had a booth there. We believed she purchased it to hang on her wall. We walked out without purchasing anything. I hope the vendor she did that to let's her have it, too. I have a booth in 2 different shops. My items are from auctions or estate sales. I think for a vendor to purchase your item, mark it up that high, and put it in their booth in the same shop is really low. We won't go back. Did stop at Lisa's down the road. Spent quite a bit there. read more

My husband and I just spent almost a week and quite a few $$ in central Illinois, shopping at antique malls and little out of the way shops. Because of the positive reviews, our last stop was going to be Lighthouse Antique Mall....but we didn't make it past the counter. I was RUDELY asked by a lady to put my small purse in a locker and don a stinky and probably unsanitized wrist band while I browsed through this mall. I was totally offended, but offered to let them see in and would have even allowed them to photograph the contents of my purse, which contained a substantial amount of cash. Needless to say the answer was No, followed by an emphatic "Yeah" by the two cowering men behind the abrasive lady at the counter. Apparantly customer service is not the number one item on their priority list for customers, and believe me, having run a retail business myself, I understand the fear of theft...but pushing away a 60+year old lady with a small purse seems a little outlandish to me. If you don't trust people, get some security cameras or do what we did and spend a little bit of your vendors dollars to hire a security guard....don't chase people away. You lost out today...or I should say, your vendors did, as we were looking for a specific $300.00+ item that we had been told about and were prepared to purchase....with cash. Thank you Lighthouse for your non hospitable manner. We won't be back and we will be doing regular trips through Illinois. Every other place we went, whether it was antique malls, or stores, or restaurants, or hotels, or gas stations, had NO problem with my purse and were extremely friendly and courteous. We enjoyed visiting with each and every one of them, sharing stories, and to us that is what ANTIQUING is about. Too bad Lighthouse Antiques has no idea what it is about!!! There are other sites with reviews and believe me, we will share our story on those sites. By the way, we are not malicious people, and we do not normally go out of our way to say anything unkind about anyone, or write negative reviews..but this place went too far in our eyes. read more

While I well understand theft in an antique store, being dealers ourselves, there are right ways and wrong ways to deal with this! Even having to put my purse in a locker would have been more acceptible if the front desk employees had handled it in a more polite way. I did voice my opinion that they were goiong overboard with their security measures. They were almost rude, and telling me that they even check their vendors purses and boxes when they leave did not make me feel any less "suspected" Coupled with security camers everywhere, many signs with warnings of shoplifting, and an employee who constantly checked on you while you shopped, led to a totally uncomfortable shopping environment. There are better ways to deal with this ! Your front desk personnel also need to know how to deal with the customers better. The merchandise was all right, but coupled with the shopping atmosphere, this mall was put on our "do not stop again" list. There are other places to shop that have much better customer relations! I would not recommend this mall. read more
