I found a Groupon here for a photo shoot with 12 photos on a data CD, including one outfit change,…read morefor only SFr. 30.- instead of 114. I don't have any professional head shots of myself for what seems to be the norm for a CV here, so I bought the deal. Dübendorf is about a 40-minute train ride from my place in Zürich, so I made an appointment for Saturday morning at 11 am. When I arrived at 10:50, I was told that my appointment was not until 11:10 or 11:15. And then the guy said they were running late and I would have to wait 30 minutes. This is terrible customer service, but I didn't get mad because there could have been something lost in translation due to my nonexistent German skills... but still... it kind of sucked. It was snowing outside and I didn't know where else to go, so I settled down on the red IKEA sofa in the store to wait. Oh, by the way--this place turned out to be a professional camera shop with a photo studio on the side. Or maybe it was the other way around. At least the guy offered me some coffee and sparkling water to drink while I waited among all the tripods and camera bags. It turned out to be a 45-minute wait. I was getting pretty annoyed when the photographer (Fabienne Morgenegg) finally came out to greet me. Apparently the delay was caused by the previous appointment (a family with a baby) running late, so I guess it wasn't really the photographer's fault. But maybe she could have made them reschedule instead of delaying all the subsequent appointments. Luckily there wasn't anywhere else I had to be afterwards. Fabienne spoke good English and is a very experienced photographer. She showed me how to pose and selected the right backgrounds and lighting for the appropriate professional effect. Afterwards, we went to the computer to select the top 12 photos, but we could only find 11 that we liked, so she offered to touch up a couple of my favorite ones instead. Score! She was really fast and efficient with the software, and I sat next to her and watched her throughout the whole process. Now I look even prettier slightly airbrushed and in black-and-white. ;-) Although my session kind of got off to a slow start, Fabienne is an excellent photographer with 10 years of experience, so I would highly recommend her for photo shoots. She was fast and efficient, with high-quality equipment, and she helped me select the best photos for my needs.

I walked in fully expecting to purchase the Nikon D3300 today, and when I asked to see the camera, he replied, "No." He pointed across the room, then when I walked over to it, I asked him how much it cost. (I knew at this point that it was the exact camera that I was wanting, so I didn't need to ask any other details at this point.) He looked at me for a moment, then when I repeated the question, he pulled out a piece of paper to tell me the price. He said it was somewhere around 590 CHF. When I said that I had found it somewhere else for 460 CHF, he put the paper away and started to walk away from me. Stunned, I said, "Wait, can I not ask what the camera comes with?" He replied with, "No, you're wasting my time. Go find it somewhere else." I said that maybe this camera came with more parts like a lens or something and that's why it was more expensive, but he wouldn't even look at me. I asked him why he was being so rude, and he said it's because 9/10 of the people come in and ask a bunch of questions, then don't buy it from him, so he didn't want to waste his time on me because it would turn out similarly. At this point, I wasn't going to buy the camera from him because he was so rude to me, but if he had been kinder, I would have considering buying it to save the trouble of shipping.... Especially if the camera came with extras that the one online didn't come with. I think it's really unfortunate that this man is allowed to sell Nikon. It fully ruined my experience with the brand and I will not purchase a camera from them in the future. I feel extremely offended and violated. I DO NOT RECOMMEND shopping at this store. Do NOT give him any money or business because he does not deserve it.

I strongly advise individuals seeking Nikon repairs to go elsewhere for service…read more I was having center-left AF issues and brought my D300 to the shop for what I hoped would be calibration tests, as well as control tests using another body with my 18-200 mm lens and another lens with my camera body. The proprietor assured me there would be no charge for examining the camera. Four days later I was advised that my camera was "ready" and that I would be charged 190 CH. I had not received an estimate for the work, and had not authorized him to go forward with any repairs. When I arrived at Foti to pick up the camera and lens, he said he had cleaned the camera and "run some tests" - which turned out to be a photograph of a street sign - and done the best that could be done. He had also center-locked the AF for reasons that are clear only to him. The answer to improve the focus, he said, was for me to "stand more still" when I am taking photographs. (I have a degree in photojournalism, and have a solid understanding of the difference between mechanical and user errors). He then demanded cash as payment and told me he was closing his shop due to a family issue, which left me with little choice but to pay the hostage fee. Am I mostly mad at myself for being duped? You bet. And I also want to spare anyone else the same, expensive experience.
