When my husband brought the cake home, I knew by the look on his face that something wasn't right. 1/3 of the right side of the cake has orange flowers with some kind of blue vines. NOTHING AT ALL LIKE I ORDERED. I even called back the day after I ordered this cake to make sure the baker knew my instructions. Not sure I'll go back for special orders any more. If I would, I would have to take a picture so their understanding of over the top decorating is in line with mine. I'm embarrassed now to present this cake at a 96 year old birthday party. It's just a normal plain cake with about 12 little flowers in the right side. No yellow flowers. No pink flowers. Blue vines?? Maybe this is their quality and I'm used to something else. The manager assured me Custom Cookies and Cakes could ship one dozen gobs to a relative of mine in the Chicago area, at a charge of $44.00. I agreed and paid for the order with my Mastercard. The container that arrived at my relative's address was a corregated box similar to those used for supermarket produce, barely closed and taped together, with hand-lettered shipping labels Scotch-taped to the outside of the box (see photo). Inside the container, the dozen gobs were packed into two plastic containers and placed inside the box with no insulation or packing--they were able to shift and shake inside the shipping container all the way to Illinois. Needless to say, I won't be patronizing Custom Cakes again.

The cake was decorated with more inside jokes from my family, but the main base of the design was a speed limit sign with my age as the mph. White and black icing that had the right amount of sweetness. I like a good cake, but if the icing is too sweet it kind of kills the treat. The cake itself was a bit dense, but had so much flavor. After hours of searching, reading reviews & scanning every social media accounts as well as any and all websites that mentioned their names to ensure all T's were crossed and the reviews were actually verified by real people before choosing Dolce Vita Desserts. Their designs were all so creative & beautifully done and after emailing a few times with Anthony he not only confirmed my specific request but he also ensure that they could/would customize to design I preferred..so I took two Of their designs (because I loved them both and couldn't decide one over the other) and made it one :) I also explained to Anthony my need desperately need for delivery ..( their site mentioned how delivery was limited) I was willing to send it as uber package delivery even I was praying I wouldn't have to do that. But, Anthony not only approved my delivery he also advised me to touch bases with the Hotel staff and provide them with the box dimensions to ensure their fridge would be able fit/store and also gave specifics on how to properly store ...information I didn't even think to consider. I whole heartily appreciate all that Anthony has done to help make my daughter's Birthday super special. Everything was executed seamlessly, even down to the delivery confirmation email I received from Both Dolce & the Hotel. My daughter not only loved her surprise bday weekend but she was in love with her cake!! I ordered the 6" inch round white cake with strawberry preserves. I thought that since only my daughter & 3 of her friends were celebrating with her that they would take the left over cake to share with others at their dorm but she told me the cake was so good they devoured it. Not one crumb was left. Which was done after making a photo shoot with the cake! She loved everything about that cake! My only regret...is the fact that I wasn't able to try it myself!
