In fact, the pain was getting worse by the day. Eventually, the pain became so intense that I could barely walk, sleep, get in and out of my car, get comfortable, sit at my desk, go about my daily routine, etc. My life, as I knew it, was on indefinite hold. Sometimes, the pain was so bad that I'd sweat through my clothes and become irritable over the smallest things. I just wasn't myself. I didn't know what was wrong with me or how I got to that point - and I was really starting to get scared that I might need surgery or, worse, that this would be my new normal. I was on the verge of driving myself to the emergency room when I decided to try a chiropractor first. This was a big step for me because I had seen a chiropractor after suffering a neck injury in my youth and felt he did nothing for me. Since then, I'd had my doubts about chiropractic in general and didn't exactly relish the idea of getting my back "cracked" ever again. But I was desperate and my pain won out over my skepticism. I bit the bullet, Googled "chiropractor near me," and found Solvang Chiropractic Center. It had a 5-star rating and the reviews were excellent. So, I made an appointment for the next day when they opened. The next day, looking like an absolute wreck, I met Dr. Noah Swanson and explained my symptoms. He knew right away what the problem was. "Can you fix it?" I asked. He said that he could, but that it wouldn't happen in one visit. His confidence gave me hope and nearly brought tears to my eyes. Anyway, after the first two appointments and doing the homework he gave me, my pain went from intolerable to practically non-existent. At last, I could again do all the things I'd once taken for granted (e.g., walk, sleep, get in and out of my car, etc.). It was nothing short of a miracle. I had been suffering from daily headaches that left my face feeling numb and my neck extremely stiff for two years. My primary doctor found nothing wrong. I sought relief with massages and spent hundreds of dollars trying to get relief. I had to try something new. However, I have extreme anxiety when it comes to meeting with doctors and was terrified to set up a consultation here. Clearly I did and it changed the quality of life. Within one visit my headaches became less frequent. I've had about 15 adjustments now and have been headache free. Setting up the appointment was easy and the next step was to fill out an online questionnaire about my health history and pain. This was the most in-depth review I have seen from a healthcare provider and it was clear that the information was reviewed and taken in to consideration by Dr. Stevens as he laid out my treatment. I was pleased to discover that visual and physical tools are used to figure out what's going on. The X-ray (in office) showed my spine was crooked and my neck was messed up. Finally, a reason I felt awful all of the time! Before the adjustment I needed reassurance that Dr. Stevens wasn't going to twist my body or break my neck. I was assured by him and his staff who were patient and gentle with my anxiety. The adjustment takes place on a table that seems to eliminate the need to do manual manipulation (at least for me). It's fast, too! The table takes longer to lower than it does to be adjusted. It's great! I have also never waited more than 3 minutes to be seen. This place is efficient and I frequently started my lunch breaks with an adjustment with plenty of time to spare. Dr. Stevens is patient and really aims to make sure his patient understands why there's an issue and how it'll be treated. The ladies on his staff are as equally fantastic. My emails are returned immediately and appointments are always accommodated. They even accommodated me when I was going to arrive after they closed because I was coming from out of town. As a patient I feel valued and cared for. Obviously I can't say enough about Life Chiropractic.
