It allowed me to enjoy the walk while understanding more about Washington on the Brazos River. Got to see the famous Brazos River and imagine how life was or could have been. Washington, Texas could have been a bustling city like Austin. It was fun seeing the old life acted out in the exact place it happened. It was fun hearing from those playing the various roles all over the park. It's a nice and sacred part of Texas history. One can explore neighboring areas like Navasota or Chappell Hill for dinner. Was hoping to have dinner at Bevers in Chappell Hill but it was closed. It was an easy drive home. Found a new way to get 10k steps in.

Checked out the observation deck where we could watch the day-to-day ice cream operations. Had huge one-scoop ice cream cups for $1 each in the ice cream parlor. We enjoyed cinnamon - walnut cherry and all were great for 1.00 per cup - large serving in our opinion. They have a fun museum, first delivery truck and some grounds to enjoy on a nice day. Worth a stop if you are by the area.

Have you ever wanted your own Castle? How about exploring someone else's? Now imagine instead of…read morethis being a historical castle that's huge and old with a lot of history, a local man made it because he always wanted a castle a few decades ago and it still a work in progress. It's a neat thing to see. You can tour it on your own for about 30 minutes and see and do all there is to see and do. There's a guided tour which gives you a bit more history and what's going on today, like trying to finish some more rooms to use it as an event space or Airbnb. If you're looking for something to do that's different, and maybe something Instagram worthy, It's worth the $15. I'm sure kids would have a field day here. Just be aware of what you're getting.

I had no service here to check in over the weekend but this was such a neat little place. We made…read morea reservation online before we went and they were great communicators. I couldn't find my email of the place and when I called and left a voicemail, they immediately called me back and told me they were going to text me when they found my reservation. That all happened in a matter of 5 minutes and I got a text with a picture of my name on the reservation. When we arrived (we stayed the night in Brenham) there was a person with a list and we had paid a deposit for our tickets. She ran the rest and then we parked and walked in. It was a super cool experience because it's so random and also an hour and some change outside of Houston. My kid and my husband loved it and so did I.

This is a really cute park, although the park side of it, meaning equipment, is not very large…read more The reason I wanted to go here was to see the blue bonnets, and although I do not see very many, there were more over here than I saw anywhere else. There was a couple having wedding photos, and there was an elderly man taking pictures, and I just really liked how serene it was. Even the surrounding areas are just open fields and it's very beautiful. I'm happy this place is not too long of a drive from Houston to escape the city.

I would recommend to go if you are attending Baylor college just so you can see a bit of history of where the school originated.. It also gives you a great viewing of what started out as a woman's only college. Fun fact I didn't know so I definitely learned something new. We stopped by here after coming from the antique rose Emporium and right before going to to Brenham. I wouldn't say it was a complete waste of time!
