Not far from the nation's capital, this is a peaceful place to go to meditate and de-stress.

Small and quiet Vietnamese temple Don't look at the simplicity of the building (more like a house than a temple) and overlook the inside which is a warm, serene, relaxing and welcoming place where people are peaceful and loving. read more

There are many conditions, including, Do not touch the person at the moment of death because even the most gentle touch Will be Extremely amplified. I'm assuming this includes closing someone's eyes for them. I would hate to think what electrical shock trying to start someone's heart would be like. Another condition is not to be crying Next to the person making them feel sad, also, to minimize the number of people near the person so to not confuse them. If someone has body odor they should not be near the dying person. Keep the area uncluttered so the person Will not be reminded of their earthly possessions. There were at least eight conditions altogether nobody remembers this lecture. I have not seen any supporting documents in the lotus sutra.

I will be 75 years old in May, I looked up the area to share memories with other relatives, with the help of google earth I was pleasantly surprised to see the church, the school and convent are all still there. Even the house we lived in. Brought back many memories. But most importantly was what I experienced in that church and how it stayed with me my whole life. As a child I really wanted to know if there was a God, my prayers were answered in that church. A lady left a review that said she has attended the church for 30 years and felt the presence of God. I know she did. Thank you for posting, it inspired me to post.

I've enjoyed not only the worship services, where everyone is free to share their joys or ask for prayer, but also other activities such as picnics, choir concerts, dinners, etc. The best way to describe what it's like going to this church is to imagine what it would be like at a really fun family reunion or a night with friends. Very welcoming and fun, and it's like that every week. Even though it's a small church, I've seen them do a lot to help the community, and there is a really strong focus on helping the immediate community. Don't be afraid to give this church a try. It's very casual; you can wear a suit or you can wear jeans and a sweatshirt. The congregation has a variety of backgrounds, and there were about 14 countries represented by the membership at last count. It's hard to find that type of integration in churches nowadays, but they've managed to do it because they truly welcome everyone into the church each week. They also can be found on www.facebook.com/BowieUMC .
