What a wonderful gem in the middle of the Heartland. As a native New Yorker, I am so pleased to find a theater of this caliber that attracts world, renowned performers. The theater offers easy access, super comfortable seating, with extra legroom, that you don't find in older theaters. The building offers the added bonus of amazing acoustics and a very large stage Last year we had the privilege of seeing the Alvin Ailey dance theater and this time we were in town to hear one of the greatest pianist of our times, Yunchan Lim (the youngest gold medalist in the Van Cliburn piano competition). The pricing of tickets is unbelievably affordable at this venue. The very good seats we had were approximately $50 each and I noticed that this young man playing in Carnegie Hall in two weeks the tickets were over $500 each. While we bought ours with a seasonal package, individual tickets are readily available. Check out the Lied performing arts center for it excellent shows in an excellent venue.

I Enjoyed seeing Tina the musical here at the Lied Center. The atmosphere was lively and fun, and the views of the stage were very good.

We had a great time seeing Weird Al here! It's a pretty large space; next time there is a show here…read moreI want to see, I will buy tickets when they first go on sale. Parking before the show was easy, lots of people to wave us in to the right spaces. Unfortunately most of those attendants were nowhere to be seen AFTER the show. And that was frustrating because it was really a huge cluster of cars. REALLY. Fortunately the parking is free. The Bowl is part of a park that is really nice, with a pond, beautiful trees, and an interesting display of huge old columns. So if you are there early you can wander around. The seats though. We were in the last row, and obviously the Bowl did not have quite enough of the regular chairs, so those of us in the way back were on these white folding chairs that definitely appeared narrower and less comfortable than the black chairs that all the other rows have. It was warm and we were REALLY close to each other. Food and drink is available. I believe the site says you can bring in an empty plastic water bottle. Though apparently it needs to be CLEAR and not opaque plastic and that is ridiculous. Thinking about it now I'm going to take off another star for that, since we were not allowed to bring our water bottle in and they were jerks about it honestly.

What a small and unique music venue…read more It doesn't look like much, but it produces five star events featuring some of entertainment's biggest names. Stage, sound and lights are world class. Whoever you come to see will look and sound good. Portable seats are brought in every show. They're semi small and they're packed close together. I've seen skinnier days, so I did my best to make myself small. Please beware if you're in a similar weight class. You may want to buy early, so you can find seats on an aisle. I couldn't find bathrooms. Somebody in another review said there were real bathrooms on site, so I guess if you know you know. Luckily there are a few porta potty farms with sinks. Lines formed, however they moved quickly and even though some of us may have had some adult beverages, everybody behaved themselves. I didn't see any food, but I did find some beverage stands. They seemed to be fully stocked with the normal beer and cocktail brands. Expect to pay inflated music venue prices. Parking is easy, but there are only a few ways into the venue, so it will take a while. Please give yourself plenty of time to travel.

As a parent of young children it can be hard to get away for one of these movies, but during the summer of 2025 they have been showing children's movies at 11 am on Saturday mornings for FREE! It's been a wonderful opportunity to revisit some old favorites and see new ones.

A haven for film nerds & freebies!…read more This is a University of Nebraska-owned theater, which means that in addition to showing movies to the public, they use the theatres for film classes. During the school year when classes are assigned to watch a film there, they often open up the empty seats to the public, for free. They offer some good sneak peeks before movies are released. Recently, I saw Charlie Bartlett, American Gangster, & Forgetting Sarah Marshall there all for FREE before they were released in theaters. This is also the only place in Lincoln (and most of Nebraska, for that matter), that you'll be able to watch documentaries like "Control Room" & "Bowling for Columbine" in theatres. That goes for liberal films too, which won't garner much of an audience in Nebraska. For a couple years, they showed a compilation of all of the Academy Awards short animation nominees. That was cool - I can't even find that on Netflix! They serve the local community by occasionally hosting premieres of locally-produced shows for our statewide Public Television Station (NET Nebraska), or premiering local films & doing Q&A with the filmmakers afterwards. TIPS: 1) Check their site (www.theross.org) often for special deals (free popcorn?) and for the upcoming shows. You can also grab a flyer (to the left of the ticket booth) for that info. 2) If there's no metered parking available on the street, try the University's visitor lot, a block east. 3) Try the Kookaburra licorice. It doesn't even taste like "licorice". It tastes like awesome. 4) If you're going to a free sneak preview, this is how it works: - Go there a day or so early to pick up your ticket voucher. I think you can also do this the day of the show. This is not a ticket, & beware: they overbook it. - Get there an hour early. Again, at least one hour early. 30 minutes before the show, the lobby will be crammed full of mostly college students waiting to see a free movie. - Exchange your voucher for a ticket, & wait in line. - For some of the more popular movies, the distributor will send a "bouncer" to check your purse or backpack before you enter the theatre, to make sure you're not trying to make a bootleg. So...this may not be a good show to sneak food into either :)

It was spacious, clean, and capable of holding large parties up to 300 people. A parking lot dat holds up to 90 cars and no pukas!!! The facility is gorgeous, well stocked and had all kinds of extras that you can choose to use for your event. Great sound system. She was involved through the whole process and so easy to work with. The bartender was great and so accommodating when we had a featured drink request. Thank you so much! We will definitely look to you if we ever need an event space in Lincoln again!
