He saw I was wearing a Borsellino fedora and he directed me to an area that had many beautiful fedora' s. He helped me choose a couple in my size and made sure they fit properly. I purchased one and still have and wear it every fall and winter. I took a picture of the shop from the outside on a very snowy day.(I'm a photographer.). I have the picture hanging in my den. I came across this store and was super excited to geek out with the workers and share experiences with other hat store employees as I almost never get to do that back home. I arrived and was greeted very coldly by the female shop owner. I told her I worked in the states with hats and she completely no sold it. Couldn't be bothered with me. Whatever. It's the middle of the work day so it can get tiring. I get it. I come across a hat I thought would be cool for my coworker and asked her if I could take some pictures so I can get my friends opinion (because I was raised to fucking ask before you do shit like that in a foreign country or any store for that matter). She proceeded to snatch the hat from me and physically push me out the fucking shop and accused me of trying to steal her ideas and her hats (which is ludicrous because I work in ANOTHER COUNTRY) and I of course don't take kindly to someone putting their hands on me. We exchange some words and I go back to the place I was eating lunch at and tell my travel mates what happened. After we finish our lunch (which was next door to the shop) we are waiting outside the street when the husband comes out and asks if there's anything I'd like to say about his shop (I was of course pointing out to my friends the woman who pushed me out the shop). The husband, wife, and I get into an argument in the middle of the street and I never once got an apology. I don't think I did anything wrong. I don't want to say it's race related but she treated the white customers in the store a hell of a lot better than she did me. Maybe they were regulars? There's another hat store 5 minutes away in the same district. The people are friendly there. Don't bother with these rude and aggressive people.

We talked a lot about hats, he helped me try on several, and I found the "one" I really wanted but with VAT and everything I decided I couldn't just do it that day. But he gave me the information of the manufacturer, correct hat size, how the hat should fit, etc. Fast forward a couple months and I ordered the hat from the manufacturer and it was nowhere near the same as I tried on - but it's on them completely, I found the service and attention to detail at Ibiza fantastic and would recommend this shop to anyone interested in a fine hat/cap.

It is near the Notre Dame Basilica de Quebec. Simons is a very small and quiet department store. Convenient for the tourist who forgot to pack something or now needs warmer clothing for the cold Quebec weather. We were surprised that Simons did not have a small giftware section where we might purchase a unique souvenir of our visit to Old Quebec that would not end up being a dusty tchotchke.

With profiles in publications like the Quebec City daily paper Le Soleil (https://bit.ly/2Fa0zmm), it's a hard to ignore Québec Urbain's role in the local fashion scene. If you are fashionable and young and have some money to spend, you'll definitely love Québec Urbain. However, in my humble opinion, the heart of Québec Urbain is more in the "Québec" than the "Urbain." Shhh ... don't say it out loud, but Québec Urbain is kinda sorta in some ways ... a "gift shop." But a "gift shop" in kindest and highest-quality sense of the word. For one, Québec City gives themselves constant reminders of the Nordiques, their long-departed NHL hockey team (1995). As far a I saw, nobody in town provides more Nordiques gear -- and more fashionable ensembles to wear your gear -- than at Québec Urbain. The store just generally LOVES Québec itself. I haven't seen the Q word on so many hats, t-shirts, sweaters, snow globes, scarves, mug and cups, plaques, keychains, pens, and other ephemera then I saw here. And if you dig on the that beautiful azure flag of Québec called "Fleurdelisé," you'll find plenty of it in many form and fashion at Québec Urbain. Then there are some cool, somewhat out-of-place knick-knacks: Christmas ornaments, dreamcatchers, nutcrackers, big animal wood carvings, lawn ornaments, and the requisite maple syrup products section.
