I noticed that the beer in Swedish grocery stores is all 3.2 to 3.8 percent alcohol. You can buy higher percentage beverages but you need to go to a separate type of store. You need to bring your own grocery bags or buy theirs. You bag your own groceries.

Tucked in the ethnic food quarter in Malmö, this place is easy to miss, but it's actually just a short walk from Triangeln station. The decor is old fashioned, proven by the flowery curtains and the tartan patterned seatings and the marble tables but it does give the authencity feel, that you know they're making their pastry their old fashioned way, as your Scandinavian grandma would have made them. Price is on the fair side, but don't expect much of a service. The grandma that owns and serves the place can be rather grumpy as Richard S pointed out, so make sure you keep on eyes on the pastries only. Like in most places in Sweden, drinks (coffee and tea) are included, so this is definitely a good place to do your fika. As for the semla, they were good!

A good selection of Smoked/Nova Salmon also. As they are close to my usual hotel, this location is perfect for any forgotten travel items and snacks. They do have self serve checkout and are good about opening up more check out lanes when busy. Good to check hours as they are usually open even if the mall is closed. (I.e. they were open on the most recent Bank Holiday.). They do have a separate entrance at the back of the mall. Conveniently located close to the train and bus stations, this is the spot for your grocery needs while in Hyllie.

Everything in here reminds me of those giant "hypermarkets" chains that we have in Indonesia. Rows and rows of different vegetables, a huge cool section for meat, their own fishmongers and butchers - and so many different brands and even for people with allergy or just vegans. Swedish supermarkets know to cater them all. My favourite buys from this place? The fresh Asian veggies, the seafood and the cheese in tubes... and oh, the Swedish prepackaged meatballs. LOL Whenever you are in Malmö for a shopping run, do your groceries at the same time!

This supermarket reminds me of a space capsule. Everything stacked so close and so neat and you hardly have a room to move, I guess it's to maximize the space. There's also salad bar in the middle as well when you can mix and match your own salad and buy it by the weight. In general, to sum it up, much better than average Danish supermarkets despite the size. PS: Their Asian selection is very limited, but that's not surprising given the location that it's not right in the city center and the fact that this place is small, but you can have some coconut milk and Japanese soya if you want.
