This particular store was close to our hotel in Potsdamer Platz, and we were driven here by Therese H.'s desire to find a sundress to wear to a restaurant. I ended up with a new linen shirt. Thanks, TKM, for keeping the clothing part of our journey within budget. As I always sing, in the words of an old commercial jingle, "Man bekommt maximal für wenigstens am TK Maxx."

Date of visit: May 30, 2024…read more We love Primark and try to visit when we are exploring different cities as they always have a great variety of merchandise including some things that are local to the particular venue. For example, here we scored some Berlin shirts to bring home for souvenirs for a fraction of the price of the souvenir shops elsewhere in the Alexanderplatz area. It definitely can be hit-or-miss, but I feel that's the case for every store, really. The lines can also be long but we didn't do too bad outside of the person behind us with some terrible BO, not that's Primark's fault!

Sadly they are all gone in the US, but a few survive here - and this one is a lot like the ones I remember growing up. Inexpensive little things and lots of clothes inhabit this space - although the 2 euro combination lock was a total POS. That said, it was 2 euros. Shame on me. plastic hangers? yep. stationery basics? yep. socks? yep. A bit of a time warp, but one I welcome. Note: This store is a little more 'downscale' than the one at Wilmersfdorfer Strasse.

Date of visit: May 30, 2024…read more TJ Maxx in the United States is one of my favorite places to look for bargains, but that is not so much the case in Europe with their similarly-named TK Maxx brand. This is the second one I've visited and haven't been impressed with either outlet. This store is not lacking for merchandise, it actually seems to be packed to the rafters with stuff, too bad the prices aren't all that good or I would have helped them take some things off their hands! There is a nice variety of brands and it was cool to see some that you don't tend to find stateside, but between the inflated prices and the exchange rate with the Euro, it didn't make much sense to buy anything here--especially when Primark is close by and is far better organized.

Back to my regular review, this TK Maxx store is quite a large branch in Alexanderplatz, it is located in a good location in the area, fairly close to the train and metro stations and next to a fairly nice branch of Italian chain Vapiano. I originally called in this store just to take a browse and see what it is like, as I've never seen a TK Maxx branch outside of the UK before, meanwhile they are branded as T J Maxx in the United States, and obviously the same branding as the UK of TK Maxx seems to apply here in Germany. The store had pretty much the average layout with a few added things such as a limited selection of alcohol. The overall feel of the store was good, yet the service and product range as a whole was just OK, mainly down to this and considering the location in Alexanderplatz in Central Berlin, I feel this branch deserves a three star rating.
